@EverydayDriver As a 2010 GTR owner - I can say that your report was actually very accurate. The car hates to be driven slowly. At 80 MPH it starts to wake up and urges you to go faster. I like the fact that the electronics can save my life as I'm about what a car can do - and being able to do it - versus having to be a pro driver to get the most out of my car. Someone can say- "but it isn't as fun!" - maybe - but nothing is more "fun" to me than watching others disappear in my rearview mirror.

@051croatia - What gives you the impression the guys never drove this car quickly? Just because the tires aren't screaming and blowing smoke doesn't actually say anything about the speed of the car. If you watch again you can see the digital speedo on the G-Meter screen - definitely above 40. Similarly, taking a 20mph corner at 40+ would be considered fast, while doing a long straight at 50 would not. Sorry you didn't enjoy the review more, and thanks for watching.

At the time we did this review, we hadn't started the "Exotic Driver" Sub-brand. In fact, driving this car was one of the reasons we decided to create "Exotic Driver" as it obviously belongs there. Additionally, you're right our guessing about used prices dropping below 50k turned out to be completely wrong. The GTR is recognized even parked between two 300k exotic cars. Because 99.9 percent of us can't afford the exotics. But some of us can afford GODZILLA. And we know it will keep up those exotics on the racetrack.

its only as fast as a z06 corvette i dont think it can really keep up with the "higher" end supercars (lamborghini aventador, Mclaren ect) though the later ones (2012 - 2014) were on level of ZR1 which on track and straight line do BEAT them was not sure if you were talking about this GTR or new ones : )

I've seen speed tests done online..The GTR was the fastest 0 to 45mph against a Porsche Turbo S and a Bugatti Veyron. The Turbos S beats it to 60 and a 1/4 mile by a tenth of a second or so..The Bugatti obviously pulls away with ease after the 45 mph mark..But on the Nurburgring track in Germany, the GTR would beat both of these cars. The new GTR Nismo just clocked a 7:08 on the Nurburgring track. It is the fastest massed produced car in the world..I think the Nismo will be offered around 150k. Price hasn't been revealed yet..But the GTR is the best bang for your buck imo.

Gentlemen I know this is an early video but America is not the centre of the car world you need to go a bit more global with your opinion, your missing what the rest of the world gets. This car was built for a specific purpose and Nissan nailed it..Perfect! It is rediculious to say it takes the experience of driving away, just buy another car again you missed the point and BTW any car on the very limit still takes driving skill. In regards to its size, you have to compare it to other Sports Coupes with Back Seats. M6, RS5, C63 Coupe, Camaro ZL1, Mustang Cobras. NONE of those are small cars. All of them look hefty, bloated, and oversized. You can't hide the fact that you must have large exterior dimensions to house an additional 2 back seats. The Z06 is considered the GTR's direct competitor only because it's similarly fast and similarly priced. How about the Z06 get two more seats and we'll see how small and light it is... or How about Nissan make a Sports Coupe with only 2 seats. GTR would drop 400 lbs at a minimum, weight would be more centralized, polar moments of inertia would come down, handling would get even better...

they do its called the GTR track edition for 120 USD (115 euro) and its the same size and only lost a little over 200 pounds as for adding two more seats to the Z06 corvette they have companies that do that and the weight is increased by about 150 LBs due to the fact the Z06 had the largest 2 seater trunk ever put into production.

Eh, okay. If you had a 40 seater school bus and took out 38 seats, that doesn't make it a 2 seater coupe. Exterior dimensions of a car designed to be larger will always hinder its performance regardless of how much of the interior that you take away. A two seater coupe has to be designed from the ground up as a two seater. Look at a Lotus Evora vs a Lotus Elise. Evoras are designed as 2+2 cars. They weigh 3000 lbs. Elises are designed at 2 seaters only and weigh 2000 lbs. Just because you pull two seats out of a GTR does not mean it was designed from the ground up as a two seater. If it were redesigned, it would be much lower, have a much lower center of gravity, much smaller, much lower overhangs, much lower polar moment of inertia, much lighter, etc etc.

Greetings from Japan. One thing I find rarely mentioned in English laguage review of the GT-R is its areodynamics. It porbably has more "down force" (negative lift) than any other car. Computer technology is not the main srouce of its driving characteristics, but that down force is.

there were several other production cars that had much more downforce then this GTR the key was its drivetrain set up and its computer manipulation for power control its downforce was nothing impressive it was actually quite average for a sports car : )

i disagree. you can't get that driving characteristics with drivetrain setup or engine control. perhaps you are confusing its 4wd system with that of mitusbishi evo's active yaw control, whose aim was to counter under-steer due to traversely-mounted front engine layout.

Well, the guys don't work off scripts - everything they say is done in a stream of consciousness/improv style. Yes, Top Gear and most everyone (including the guys here) have been extremely impressed with the GTR. But all those same journalists (Top Gear, MotorTrend, etc) have discussed the car as less involving than they hoped. If you're a Clarkson fan you've probably seen where he picked the BMW 1M over the GTR. The GTR can kill the 1M, but wasn't as fun. Thanks for watching!

Wonder how many of the GT-R fanbois in here have actually driven one. I did at the track... video is on my page. The performance doesn't make up for how boring, isolated and heavy the thing is. And this was at the track where it's supposed to shine. I can only imagine how boring it is on the street where you can't use its performance. I was happy to get back into my "slow" 350Z. All the GT-R is good for is fast lap times and arguing on the internet.

Wow - you guys have gotten some tough reviews on here... I will make you feel better. I own a 2010 GTR - a 1000+ awhp one in fact (videos on my channel) and your review is one of the best around. Besides the looks part (it's an eye of the beholder thing) - the temperment and drivability comments are bang on. It hates going slow. It does allow you to do more than you are capable of. It is NOT for getting groceries (although it has a big trunk). Keep doing what you are doing guys! Cheers!

@ivanr77 - The GTR is an amazing machine, and worth 4 stars. There are many things said in this review which praise the car, but GTR fans generally think anyone who finds something bad about the car (many car reviews) instantly doesn't know what they are talking about. This is a four star car. It is also flawed. Otherwise, most of our audience enjoys the two perspectives of our show. We hope you'll watch more of our work and enjoy it as well. It's not your approach, and we respect that.

For the MANY people who have just discovered this video and concluded we "know nothing" and we "hate this car": 1 - Thanks for watching, and we hope you'll watch our other reviews. 2 - How many of you have actually driven a GTR compared to regular cars and supercars? Our guys have... 3 - There's no hate here... both our guys gave the GTR their highest rating. But the car is not perfect. 4 - Beauty is personal, but we are far from the first (or last) to say the GTR isn't beautiful.

I love coming back to this video and reading the past predictions on pricing. 2009s still fetch low to mid $50K on the used market. The car seems to be holding up well over time.

I really appreciate your videos- your commentary is candid yet descriptive. My only issuewith your piece on the GTR is when you say that it can be a "one trick pony." While I agree that no car is perfect, this car has a lot going for it and for its speed, is quite practical. It has rear seats (for kids), can fit golf clubs in the trunk and has AWD when the weather is less than ideal. I had the pleasure of driving this car and came away completely amazed with it.

@EveryDay Driver, you guys are awesome. I've always tried to watch your guyses review on a car before purchasing it and now I'm on my way to godzilla. Although, Nissan claims (and others) that the 2012+ GTRs are now more soulful. If you guys could review a '12 GTR that would be sick, and I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for this! Thank you, Aaron

@jv7324 - Both of the guys said positive things about the great high-speed shifting on the GTR. They compared it to a motorcycle transmission and discussed that as a good thing.

And for the guys reviewing the GTR. The reason for the GTR dropping significantly in price for the 09 models was due to the transmission problems when using launch control and if you used launch control once, it voids your warranty. They fixed it in the later models. But still, 09's go for around 58,000 not 50,000.

I love the gtr, but I also love this review because they were honest and not saying the same stuff everybody else says, an opinion is an opinion remember that people.

@theroyalasshole1216 - Not for this video. We've used Glendora Ridge Road before and it's awesome. But it also gets a lot of play from other outlets so it's only one of the many we use throughout the LA area.

My dad just got one for fathers day, and it is honestly just a fantastic car. He absolutely lives it. We like how big it is, it pronounces it in a world of super sleek tiny supercars; kind of like why I like the Charger as well.

@TheDezzalution - At no point, anywhere, are we claiming to be Top Gear or trying to be them. The original UK Top Gear is in a class far above everything else in quality, entertainment, and budget. Not even their own spinoffs can match the original. There are plenty of viewers who enjoy what we do, we're sorry to not count you among them.
