NISSAN/INFINITI VQ35DE Engine PCV REPLACEMENT

This video documents steps I've taken to replace the PCV valve on a 2010 Nissan Murano LE with VQ35DE engine. The OEM PCV part # that I used is "11810-EA200", but please double check to be sure your VQ35DE engine PCV is the same.
Similar procedure should apply to most Nissan and Infinity vehicles with the VQ35DE engine as shown below:

I've cleaned one before for my xterra. Looks the same. I got a small glass jar and submerged the pcv in the cleaner. Came back the next day when it evaporated, sprayed it off once more, let it dry, and then installed it.

Great. What year Murano do you have? And do you have any dashboard cracking issues?

@@DIYLifeSkills Mine is a 2012 with 120K miles on it. No dashboard issues but it has been kept in my garage most of the time.

@@1640mm That's good. Keep it in shade as much as possible. Prolonged direct sun light just destroys Murano dashboard.

Just did this to my 2017 QX60 and is easier if you remove the bracket holder for the fuse box on top of it easy access!

How many miles did you have? And how was the PCV condition?

@@DIYLifeSkills 50k miles I just cleaned with carburetor cleaner it was a little oily I was going to buy one but I don't see the need since it works as it should! Also none of the sockets fit I had to use the crecent wrench!

You should always replace the PCV hose as well when it's that hard and brittle. I replaced mine and the vacuum hose that connects the front and back valve covers on my 2018 Murano while I was replacing my spark plugs.

Good idea and I recommend it too. On my friend's Toyota Sienna, PCV hose had a crack, and gave him intermittent check-engine light for months until they figured out it was just cracked hose leaking vacuum.

The 2016 Infiniti qx60 has some type of electrical box in the way. Only room for one hand in there. This is just crazy.

Should help because PCV recycles sunburn fuel back into combustion chamber so you get to maximize the fuel

What's the likelihood of the pcv causing blue smoke on start up 2003 Maxima with 122k. Both valve covers were replaced @90k when the spark plugs were done. The new valve covers were a Dorman brand and came with the new pcv valve. My thought was it might be valve seals. Problem started very intermittently about a year ago and most recently occurs more frequently. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Could be valve seals or PCV, but for older cars with high miles, it’s also often due to piston rings getting stuck with carbon build up usually due to poor engine design or infrequent oil changes or running on low and dirty oil too long.

@@DIYLifeSkills thanks for the quick response. I've owned the car since 2010 when it had 47k and I change the oil and filter every 3k. I alternate between synthetic blend 5w30 and high mileage blend with a Wix filter.

I didn't get any bad PCV related check engine light, but replacing PCV is something that I do as regular maintenance. Plus it was burning some oil, and I wanted to see it new PCV would help.

Yes VQ35DE is the common engine for 2017 Murano as well. Buy the OEM from dealership or from a nationwide large auto parts store as there are too many fake parts being sold on Amazon and eBay.

can I use how will you know if your pcv is bad and neeed to be replace ?

If it’s more than 5 years old, it’s good to replace it. One way to test this type of PCV is to shake it up and down and you should hear and feel internal part moving up and down and makes rattling sound. Blocked PCV will not make any sound. If it’s partially blocked you might hear some noise but it’s not loud. This is a cheap part that is easy to replace and it’ll help other problems like internal gasket leak, oil burning, less fuel economy, etc.

@@theseattlegreen1871 It is ridiculous price when Toyota PCVs are just ten bucks. When you shake and it still rattles, you could just clean it with any cleaner spray that can dissolve oil and carbon. Just spray into the holes in both sides and cover it with your fingers and then shake it. Repeat this few times and most of the oil and carbon deposits should be removed and internal valve should rattle more freely.
