Nissan Misfire, Coil Pack Replacement P0300+ (Skill level = 1 beer)

Another maintenance project. The Xterra has 135k miles on it. Troubleshoot along with me codes P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306... yada yada

I suggest changing all of them out at once if one starts to go, not very many miles after, another coil went out, which forced my hand to do the rest. Cheers!

You did good by buying the Napa part. I had the same problem after i changed all the plugs. Napa has the best price for oem parts. Your old coil is likely a OEM Denso coil however made in the China division. I bought a made in japan denso. Your old coil likely went out because its a POS like my POS coil. They go out all of a sudden. Im dealing with transmission issues because of the OEM Calsonic crap radiator. Any radiator is more reliable than the f*ck OEM Calsonic. If you do spark plugs change use 2 wobble extensions to remove and install your spark plugs. #1 and #3 are a pain in the ass. Nissan factory service manual recommends an upper intake removal. You also might consider buying a oil catch can on the pcv system or whatever the POS hose that routes crankcase gases into the intake. My intake and plugs were oily from the pcv system, almost like what would happen on a direct injection motor or turbo. Nissans are a pain in the ass. I found the oil because of removing the upper intake for plug changes. My coil screwed up next and i was going to remove the upper intake again so i used the 2 wobble extensions. I removed the plugs because of all the scare stories i heard from a nissan saying that the misfiring plugs caused the coils to go out. The plugs are best bought at Napa for the 2 platinum plug tips. Then you won't need me plugs for the rest of your vehicle ownership. The nissan dealer wants to do the job for 430 dollars to do the job and they give you the cheaper oem plugs. My plugs ran about 12 each. When you buy parts online other than napa you run the risk of counterfeit parts. Or crapchina parts. If you got a good napa parts person they will know if your getting oem parts. Altrom brand is usually OEM parts. Your trans fluid is nissan type S which is the best that you can get. Nissan has the highest standards for trans oil which exceeds all other oils specific to auto trans seals compatible to that oil.

I forgot to mention because of the pcv system oil from the crankcase makes spark plugs harder to remove from baked on oil onto the sparkplug threads. My FN Nissan is a real pain in the A$$.
