Thanks You. Our 2015 Murano just went off warranty so decided to do this myself. Should have watched this before I drained the oil - have to wait till next year to replace the crush washer. I was able to change the oil filter on ramps without removing the wheel. Yes, it was messy but I wiped it all down when finished. The links are awesome too!

Yup, exactly why I’m doing oil changes on mine as well. Every once in a while we’ll get a coupon for a cheap oil change from the dealership, but more often than not I’m doing it myself. Don’t sweat the crush washer. If it’s not leaking now, it’ll probably be good until the next change. Thanks for the comment!

There is a jack point in the middle just behind the front bumper to jack the whole front end up then put 2 jack stand in both side where you showed in your video and you don't have to take off the wheel, after the wheel in the air just use your arm to turn the wheel outward to access the oil filter plastic panel.

Your 1/8 quart is for the oil filter. What I do is buy the five quart jug with 1 single quart (1 single quart will last 5 oil changes) I use the single to fill the filter and the 5 in the engine haven't had a issue, I change it every 4k. Same process used for the last 50k miles

@FastFixYouTube

I used the frame rail which is close to the Jack point. Just make sure you don’t use the floor pans or any thin metal areas. Ideally you’ll use the frame or pieces bolted to/welded to the frame that are also heavy gauge metal.

Hello. Just snug it up then tighten a little beyond that point…maybe a quarter turn or less. If you want to be precise, a torque wrench is the way to go, but most people don’t go that far.

First time ever owning a nissan. Are they all this complicated?lol on my Silverado I just drain the oil, replace the filter and add new oil. I hate that you gotta remove the tire, remove some covers and you gotta sideways filter that can potentially leak on other parts.
@FastFixYouTube
@FastFixYouTube 4 жыл бұрын
Miguel Velazquez I hear ya! This is the most complicated oil change apart from a super car in my opinion. There’s a comment at the bottom of this feed where a guy suggests turning the tire out by hand then accessing the filer. I’ve never done it that way, but I’m going to try next time. Maybe try it too and let me know how it goes. Check out the comment. It should be the last one in the feed.

@Fast Fix what do you do with the old oil? just dump it into a drain on a street? I only recently moved to the US so this is a serious question. I see it's normal to dump used AAA batteries to trash whereas in Europe you have put them into special recycling boxes you find in every supermarket.
@FastFixYouTube
@FastFixYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
Hello. Dumping oil down the storm drain is not only wrong, but also illegal. Depending on where you live, you could face large fines and even jail time. Fluids that go through the storm drain network ultimately drain to the environment. They do not get treated like sewer waste. It’s easy however, to get rid of your oil. Just capture it in an oil pan and bring it to any auto parts store. Most will take the oil go free and dispose of it for you. I wish the U.S. did something similar with batteries, but it’s always up to us to personally recycle the smaller batteries and finding places to do that is scarce at best. Anyone with knowledge about that please feel free to comment below. Thanks for the question!
@PawelRaszewski

In my opinion, using manufacturer recommended oil is imperative to the optimal performance of the engine. For example, viscosity grade refers to how well oil flows at different temperatures. So, engine temp ratings need to align with the viscosity rating of the oil. Just my opinion and using a different grade oil a few times shouldn’t matter much in the long run.

Hello. There are frame rails behind the front wheels almost underneath the drivers and passenger seats. There are other spots as well. Basically, you’ll want to find a spot that’s welded or strongly bolted to a frame component. Thin metal or the floor pan is a big no no. Hope that helps.

How to you prime a filter that’s installed horizontal?
@spartty
@spartty 4 жыл бұрын
I think he wants you to put a little in it, let it sit and get absorbed, then put it on. Don’t know how much oil would need to be placed, where it’s all absorbed and won’t leak out when trying to install horizontally, but I’m guessing that’s what he wants. Love the video by the way. Awesome to know how to get it done yourself if you really need to. But my Nissan dealership charges $15 with your own oil and filter and it’s the only time I take my 2018 Murano to the dealership for a multipoint inspection and checkup so I let them handle the oil change every six months (usually less than 5000 miles for me).
