Im glad that you’re featuring the Z31. It’s good for our cars and it might just shed some light and make parts more available for the Z31 community. In my opinion you’re wrong when you say that parts are easy to find. The aftermarket is very unkind for this platform. If you buy a Z31 make sure it’s pristine or else you will struggle finding the appropriate replacement parts. These are my thoughts and my experiences.

Its such an underappreciated platform!

Your prob right. But man I love em. I always had my eye on a close neighbor about 10 yrs older than me. I'm 37 so I grew up in the 90s. Anyways the z31 was turbo and pristine. Sat there. He eventually sold it. Fucked part is I did a landscaping job as a teen and we were at this post office woman's home or something like that. It was her car. All brand new motor replacement and we knew from looking at it. Damn. That or a supra from that body or up to obvious 98. Love pop up style cars. Supra kinda ugo until 90-93.5. Similar to previous but more sleek. Anyways. Can't find jack for z31. Engine diff but that's it.

I've owned my Z31 for 32 years,it's just an n/a automatic. I bought it from my aunt with about 8k miles. I needed a automatic because I had knee surgery and the only other car I had was a 70 ss454 Chevelle w/ 4speed.😊

Z31 is such a solid car.

I bought a 1985 Base new. Everything I see it's difficult to get parts for these cars. Otherwise, I would love to find one.

It’s honestly not too bad, genuine z31 parts are pretty hard to find nowadays but thankfully Nissan used the Vg30e in several other cars and almost everything else is interchangeable with the s13

Thank you for the video. I love my 86 n/a, even if it only makes maybe 100hp (in theory) to the wheels on a good day lol. I say in theory cuz I haven't got mine to run yet but it did start today, finally...after a year of work haha. It's an easy car to work on though. I love it. Auto to manual swap was easy. I gotta do work to the brakes. Rust isn't terrible. Could have done a lot worse considering the car was free and came with an 87 turbo for parts in the same color haha

Honestly.... a GM 3800 + turbo motor swap would do this car justice. Yeah yeah, LS swap the world... whatever... I know they make swap kits for this car/platform... but, the 3800 is a great engine to swap in, it would drop right in place with little modifications and would be as reliable as the day is long. Good gas mileage so you could daily it if you want and still be light enough to have fun through the corners.

this is such an underrated motor, even just the factory supercharged variant would be cool
@derektrieglaff91035 күн бұрын
@@ThreepieceUs yes, it would be cool to have the supercharged variant in the Z31 but unfortunately, the supercharger would be backward and would hit the firewall with the throttle body. I mean, if one could fabricate a 90° adapter for the supercharger so the throttle body could be mounted next to the supercharger then maybe it could work. But actually the supercharged engine with the N/A intake and a turbo w/ intercooler is actually better overall. Because the intake from a 4th generation camaro bolts right on and is positioned in the right direction.

@@ThreepieceUs I love the stock motor of this car. I added a boost controller , 3inch downpipe str8 pipe, coilovers, kaaz 2way lsd. I’m satisfied now. Just doin body kit now that’s it. Definitely don’t need to swap the motor at all.

The stock motor is fine. And it can take a nice amount of power honestly
@derektrieglaff91034 күн бұрын
@@flyguyhiem hey.... you can like what you want. But the fact of the matter is, the GM 3800 has a larger aftermarket support network. You can do more things with it. It's easily upgradable and if you turn up the boost you won't have the bottom end spewed all over the floor in 5,000 miles. I can see that you're hooked on keeping things "original"... but, you can't argue with more power, better reliability, more aftermarket support and the thought that the 3800 was the pinnacle of the gm 6 cylinder and was used for damn near 40 yrs in one form or another and powered some of the best that the USA had to offer for decades.
