Gwin, I looked at the $400,000 that I lost as the tuition that I paid for the education that I received from having run an unsuccessful business. Truly the life lessons learned were worth so much more than that. The rationale when my late wife and I moved to Arizona from New Jersey to open the store was, I would rather try and fail than to have regretted the fact that I never tried at all. So we gave it a shot. I failed and I moved on. Perhaps that is why Zach was willing to give up running a software company in the DC area to take a shot at his dream and I love that he is willing to take that risk. We assigned a repo guy to repo a car for us and the owner came in and paid in the afternoon and we called the repo guy and left a voicemail for him not to repo, yes the days before mobile phones, email or text, and he did not get message and repo’d the car that night. Since guy was up to date on payments he got the vehicle back with a clear title and account marked paid in full.

Somehow the price flew up to $32,000 after taxes, fees and an unnecessary expensive warranty they weren’t even going to tell us about, plus, they were going to give her their rate at 5.89%!!!!! CRAZY we got rid of all the extra charges, and got a 1.99% interest rate from Chase. And left very happy. You have to keep your eyes peeling in dealerships!

I took a $5000 hit on it and traded it 5 months later. I went back to Chevy/GMC which I should have never left. That Titan was literally junk. The place where traded it immediately took it to auction and broke even on it. The thing that is hard to believe is that Nissan has survived until 2020.

I've had a couple vehicles end up in an impound lot in my life, none due to default, but I'm pretty sure that they must grant you access to remove any personal belongings not attached to the vehicle free of cost, atleast in CA. You car isn't towed back to Nissan, it's towed to an impound lot and you literally have up until the day of the auction to retrieve your personal belongings. I'd love to hear how this differs across the US.

They tow your car if they say you owe them money, charge you for the tow and a daily storage fee, then sell the car after a short amount of time if you do not pay the original amount you owe plus for the tow and storage, plus interest and penalties. They keep the money from the sale but do not apply the proceeds to what you owe so that you still owe it.

What is it, when does it happen, what rights does a buyer have when the delivered vehicle is not as agreed, is a "to do list" amount to a conditional acceptance, etc. I know a lady that bought a brand new purple Mitsubishi from a dealer near Salt Lake City, and when she went to pick it up the antenna was ripped off, the paint was scratched and there was food debris inside and the dealer said it was not their problem.

Oh, but the way cops do it all the time. It is a $450 tow, $40 a day in impound with a 30 day minimum hold here in California. Who in the hell can afford that if they had no money for tags and had to work to eat? Yeah I know some of you do not care.

Maybe people will obey the law then? Oh, wait, that requires taking responsibility for one's actions, not committing crimes to get your car impounded, etc.
