Prices are INSANE for a working person.....that and when the supply was short, they charged OVER MSRP and folk have not forgotten that. Many pod casters and youtubers were saying these dealers were digging their own graves later. It's why I bought used last year and saved a TON compared to new.

What you also have to remember is that the finance rep at the dealership makes about a 50% comission on the sale of the warranty, which tells you that it's only really worth half of what it costs, aka a $4,000 warranty only covers about $2,000 of predicted damage. Don't buy it!

If i have to do monthly payments, i don't buy the car. I've never spent 5 figures on a vehicle. Take the time to find a quality used car and then take care of it.

It''s not just these guys, there are several dealers near me that have Corvettes 3 to 4K under MSRP cause they are not moving! Corvettes typically sell for MSRP so this is definitely NOT the norm. Cars that are in the 80 to 100K range are just not moving much.

This price increase across the board is because the dealers were marking cars up so much during the shortage and manufacturers realized people would still buy. Effectively price gouging us consumers

The Dodge Hornet is overpriced garbage.. They depreciate over 50% in the first year.. dealerships don't want them on trade. 👎

In UK many years ago I was in a glass sales room at a main dealer. The sales man said he would go and ask his manager about the price. He left the room and walked across the showroom to another glass office to talk to the manager. I noticed on the side of his desk a speaker box with a metal grill across the front. I suspected it was a microphone so run my finger nail across the grill and immediately the two men in the other office some twenty-five feet away look up and at me confirming the room was wired for sound. I went somewhere else to buy. A second hand car sales trick is to empty all the fluids out of the engine. If it has no oil, break fluid, water, etc you can not see if it has any leaks. Don't tell them in advance which car you are interested in because then can run the engine to get it warm so it starts easier when you try it.

Please remember people that one of the main jobs of the car salesman is to steal your trade in. It is always to your advantage to sell your car privately.

Good to point out the tax goes up with all the up charges. Like your cell phone bill. All the fees, taxed, is what really racks it up.

I saw one of those new Santa Fe things the other day, I was behind one and I remember I kept saying to my son, what an ugly rear end. The sides look OK but the back looks like it was designed by a team of elementary school students for a science fair.

Now I know how I’m going to pay for my next car, I love this.👍 I refused to pay for a transportation fee when I was looking at all the fees that were involved with buying a car, the salesperson told me that every body does which made me upset, so needless to say I told him that I would go elsewhere. He replied “so I just wasted my time”, I said “sure looks like you did “

I recently purchased a vehicle from a local dealer. I agreed on a sales price, trade-in value, a down payment and an interest rate. When I met with the finance guy I started reading each document placed in front of me as I always do. He commented that he had never encountered a buyer who meticulously read documents before signing them. This sparked curiosity on my part. I’m a retired homicide detective who analyses speech patterns including context, tone, rhythm and so on. One of the speech issues i pay close attention to is when people comment about something which concerns them. Human beings simply want to tell the truth so their speech will often give them away. In this case it’s a good thing I paid attention because the interest rate had jumped a full point and a half from what we agreed to. Pay attention out there. These things do happen.

I took all of the advice on what to do and not to do when buying a car, and this was just me but I got them to take close to 3,000 off the price without having to pay any b.s add ons and what nots. Big thanks to you guys.

I've found that many salesman like it if you know what you want and what you're willing to pay. It doesn't waste anyones time. If i try some vehicle out and it ticks the right boxes, then I'll tell them, this is what ill pay out the door. You can move the money around to all the boxes that suit you to make it happen as long as it adds up to my out the door price. Be willing to walk. Make sure you leave them your #. They might call in a week and ask to top it up a bit but if they call you back, that means they'll already have accepted your offer.

Just went to a dealership in my area to pickup a part I needed and the amount of cars in their lot was INSANE. This was not a small dealership and there was NO WHERE to park. Every spot was occupied with an unsold vehicle. This is what happens when the prices are so out of wack to what the average person can afford. We need to hold the line and continue to buy used for the next 5-10 years this will force the dealers and manufacturers to stop making the entry level to a new vehicle so high. I'm fine with luxury vehicles being expensive but most the crap their selling for 60-70K these days is not luxury. Its what you would get for 20-25K 8-10 years ago.

The salespeople need more authority. The having to sit around while the salesperson is talking to the sales manager is the most obnoxious part of buying a car. Last time I attempted to buy a car off a lot, they left me and my wife sitting there so long, we just got up and walked away. Ended up buying a used car from Carvana. Worked great, no pain.

Buying a new car, they are showing me the MSRP and then adding a line called Delivery, Processing and Handling fee. Is this legit, or just a way to add more profits to their transaction? Btw, this DPH fee is $1,350. What's the best way to address this with thyem?
