Nissan Titan ECU/TCU Transmission Update and My buddy bought a TITAN!

I Can't thank you enough. My transmission was doing the same as yours for my 2017 Nissan Titan XD. I was racking my brain on what was going on, and the local dealership kept saying it's normal. I've driven enough trucks to know that it wasn't. After I saw your video the other day, I went to the dealership this morning and told them what I want done. Sure enough my truck rides like a different truck. It has more power, and no more delays. Thanks again for sharing!

Love those Nissan Titans. I’ve been driving my 2012 Nissan Titan and a 2008 Nissan Frontier for my business and they have been the most reliable trucks And I have owned Chevy, Ford, and Dodge trucks in the past. But In my experience, Nissan Trucks are the most reliable.

Had the same transmission in my wife's 2017 Armada. Had this firmware update as well due to some funky shifting and the improvement was huge! Actually had no qualms with it after that.

2017 pro-4 here. Same issue. This truck has the dumbest shifting cycles. When you run it hard it’s fine. If you drive normal it’s confused when to shift at what rpm it needs to be at.

what color is better ? Those were the 2 colors i was going for. I pick the brown 1 n order but last minute they are like we cant find 1 in that color you would have to wait and our deal we negotiated would be off the table so i was force to chose my 2nd option the black 1. lol I got such a good deal on my titan they wanted to cancel deal i feel aha.

I wasn't charged for the update. It was covered under warranty at the time when I owned that truck. The radio is a aftermarket Phoenix Audio

I know this is a little late and you don’t have it anymore. Is it normal for it to have that diesel type sound to it? I just bought a 17’ and it sounds like that. I don’t know if that is how they normally sound or not. I sent it to Nissan cause I was worried that something was wrong with the engine. Also having the ecu/tcu updated while it is there.

Yes..it starts to sound like that after a while. It's actually normal for those engines. They still run great with very little problems, but they do sound like diesels. Even the 2021 I had sounded like a diesel. Nothing to be alarmed about. It just take some getting use to.

Good morning, just wanted to know what do I have to tell my dealer to do in order to get mine reprogrammed. I havent had any codes etc pop up but it cut back in 2nd to 3rd gear sometimes if im easy on the pedal. If i give a firm push it doesnt happen other than that i love the truck but thats minor.

It may help because that was one reason why I had to get it done at the time. Definitely get it done if you have some warranty left

Yes it was covered under the warranty.. about 1 hour .. no charge

Let them know that you are having shifting issues and they have to do it

Reverse went out on my 2017 SL with only 48k miles. Every drive gear works flawlessly and no dash lights at all. Anyone else with this issue ? And what solved it ? THANKS

It became common on the 16 and 17 models and fewer 18 models. In some cases a TCU update fixed it and in some cases the transmission was replaced. So if you still have a little warranty left, I would use it. That's one of the reasons I got rid of mine
