Good summary. I bought a 2016 Titan SL diesel brand new and still own it with 123,000 miles. Problems I have had was an EGR cooler replacement at 80,000 miles (It had a pinhole leak and Nissan gave me the repair for half price ~$1500 after I persistently showed them it is a known problem with many occurrences online hence probably why the new EGR cooler is an updated version). This will no longer be an issue since I spent $1800 recently to delete and tune. I replaced the AC/heater blower motor at 110,000 miles which was an easy KZbin fix (~$100). I also had to replace a fuel injector at 100,000 miles. For those that do not know, a bad diesel fuel injector will click with weird pedal response just prior to failing, but when it does it looks like a major engine problem with LOTS of white smoke coming out from the hood (hint...stop driving immediately and get it towed to the shop!). Fuel injector was replaced without issues (~$400 - dealer). Problems I currently have is that the coolant reservoir level sensor is poorly engineered and will give you a false low level that puts you in limp mode (I have replaced the coolant reservoir/level sensor twice ~$300 and it still happens). This turned out to be an easy KZbin fix by unscrewing the level sensor from the bottom and lowering it about an inch held up by a securely wrapped bolt extension to hold it up (it doesn't leak if you unscrew it). I didn't want to completely lower it since I still want to know its low level and this works like a charm. I also have to top off the power steering fluid from low level every year or two...concerning, but manageable. I am just about ready to replace the brakes for the first time and plan on getting the same Nissan OEM rotors and pads since they perform fine and last forever. I never do additives as I think they are a gimmick and 5,000 mile oil changes are overboard for 10 quarts, but to each their own since it only hurts the wallet and not the truck. I change my oil every 10,000 miles using T6 Rotella 5w40. Touch screen display is lacking in these trucks, but the stock Rockford Fosgate stereo gets compliments from everybody who listens to it and interior leather is still holding up well. Is ~$2,500 corrective maintenance + $1,800 tune/delete too much for a 2016 truck with 123,000 miles? I don't think it is if you have some repair knowledge and pull out some KZbin certified mechanic to help save some cost. Truck still runs like new.

I have a 2017 I bought used about a year ago. Beautiful truck, lifted, 33X12's and it looks brand new inside and out. Had 30K miles on it when I got it and I just hit 51K a couple days ago. I love the truck. Its built like a tank. EGR cooler started leaking all of a sudden two months ago so I had Nissan install a new one . 2K for that but my warranty covered it so didn't cost me anything but a day of it sitting at the dealer. After seeing a bunch of horror stories on you tube I really started to worry about it. In particular the busted cranks. So I decided pretty quick on running Amsoil and hotshots all in one fuel additive. Think i'm going to switch to Diesel Kleen though since it's Cummins approved along with changing the oil and fuel filters every 5K miles which I started from day one. I've learned a ton about this truck since I've owned it and vids like this one take some of the worry out of my mind :)..Thanks for that :)

It also has a oil Bypass Kit installed. A Fuel Sump Pump with a High volume Fuel Pump Kit by XDP with a particulate and water filter kit system. The engine has 144,000 miles on it. With no CEL lights and seems to run fine. My question is: like you, I like to do preventative maintenance. I believe that keeps the vehicle in the best running condition. What would you start with first not knowing the maintenance history on this truck? I'm thinking of changing the engine oil first And then moving on to the fuel filters. Then transmission fluid and then front and rear axle oils. Of course I want to check out the brake pads as well. At what mileage should I change out the shocks? And should I be concerned about the sway bars and linkage I believe is all stock? I plan on towing a 6,000 lb camper trailer and keeping this truck for a long time. Any advice you could give me on starting a preventative maintenance plan on a truck with no know previous history would be appreciated. would be appreciative
