Patrick, thank you so much, mate! Just had the exactly same problem. In my country a new pump costs 650€ + garage work. So looking at at least 800€ total cost. Ouch! Hopefully with your experience, I will save quite a bit!

Hi Bex yes some pumps are more noisey than other's, as they have a elecric solinoid plunger working like a hammer so they need a good rubber mount you may try this if you wish, we never when we done the pump you could hear a faint clicking noise in the cab loader out side but only when standing still on idle but when driving didn't notice it but the pump did get more quite with use and she still run to date thank you for your comments

I'm about to change the same pump on my 2004 x trail. The pump in question I think you'll find is not a lift pump to the engine but it's full name is transport pump being used to transfer fuel from one side of the tank to the other to keep the level the same. If you look at the shape of the tank you'll understand why. That's why if it is disconnected your engine will still run as long as there is enough fuel still in the side used to draw from but will run out with fuel still in the side not drawn from. Ridiculous price for Nissan part, well done Patrick.

Thanks for your video Patrick, I'm now having to tackle the same task on my T30 Xtrail. Thanks to your video, I'm also going down the method of taking the overall bracket off, and I managed to get at the nightmare bolt with an offset 10mm ring spanner, and I've disconnected the lines and the plug, but how in the blue blazes did you manage to wiggle the bracket out from above the sub-frame and rear drive shaft?

Hi thank you for your comment, glad you got to the bolt as it's a pain to get too and the bracket as it was a nightmare to deal with I think it got bent a little bit but bent back good luck 👍

Had same problem. Nissan part £210. Bought one on Amazon £12 but paid extra for next day delivery. She fires up first key. Was a nightmare to take bracket off as everything is in the way pipes subframe etc. Done now a good days work.😄

The new pump is the same as the old pump Which is a low pressure fuel lift pump only hopefully this helps .

Pumps from Nissan cost about £350 But eBay £70 or much less so go for it the pump we fitted still working fine and it's possible it may fix you miss fire please let us know thanks Richard for you comments .

Hi, thank you for this video! I changed the pump yesterday, it seems to work fine except intermittently it's making a really loud ticking noise..... I'll admit I went for the cheap £12.50 pump but still... The car seems to run ok but the noise is awful... Any ideas why this would be? Can't find any answers ont interweb.. TIA Becky.

just tried to do mine but the top bolt on bracket is solid and so rust I couldn't shift it with heat ether. any suggestions to get this bracket off. so I can fit the new pump?

Hi I know this is a really old video but I'm having this same problem. I bought a pump and wanted to change it myself but I can't tell what type of screws it's held in by, as it's so badly corroded. You wouldn't happen to remember what screws hold it in Thanks in advance

Hi yes thank you for your comment the screws used were self drilling Tec screws I got the from a screw fix shop so no drilling or threading

I'm literally having to do this job right now to my T30 Xtrail. The screws on the pump are so corroded on mine too, I think they're cross-head screws, but no way they're coming out, as the back one is inaccessible. I'm going for Patrick's method of removing the bracket, and I FINALLY managed to get at the nightmare bolt yesterday with an offset ring spanner. They're 10mm bolts holding in the overal bracket. ( I now however can't work out how to wiggle the bracket out).

Great video thank you. I'm having trouble getting the bolt above the drive shaft off, how did you manage it? I've drive using 3/8" and 1/4" extensions, universal joints etc and still can't get the socket flush on the bolt. It's driving me mental! Also no ideal how I'll manage to get it back in when I do get it out.

Hi I was lucky and it came undone the area is a rust trap so if this won't come undone use along chisel and hit the head off it you can use a self drilling threading tec bolt to replace it sorry to say the removal of the bracket is the hard bit popping it back is much easier, be luck 🍀

Hi Patrick can you tell he which way the flow is on the tank I have a issue of the fuel gauge reading ring and been told its more than likely this as it pumps diesil between both side of the tank?

Thanks for you comments and yes the pump has a metal lump one side with the tube for fitting the rubber tube on, this Is the out and the plain tube straight to the pump body is the in and the Nissan has the same on the factory fitted pump will see it I can post a picture

hi sorry late comment would get a long sharp chisel to it hit head off and use a drill screw eg a tec screw to refit hope this helps

mi engine is working without that pump.....pulled the plug from the pump out and no diference on the engine

Marius Spiescu yes I guess it will because the main high pressure injection pump will draw the fuel up from fuel tank , but on a low fuel tank or when changing fuel filter you will need it to bleed the fuel up to the filter and on then to the high pressure injector pump also if the fuel is under high demand at higher throttle settings the higher amounts needed may be more than the high pressure pump can draw so this may be the reason but i have not tested this hope this helps .

Hi yes very hard to do but used a long extension bar with a universal joint headed socket or cone end that allows the socket to flex about at the end , also if this is not possible use long chisel to cut it off hopefully it helps

To find cheaper Chinese pumps go to EBay just follow Listed in category Listed in category:Vehicle Parts & Accessories/Car Parts/Air Intake & Fuel Delivery/ Fuel Pumps : free post or enter fuel pumps in search !!!! and low as £12.50 + but I recommend the higher quality pump made in japan which is the Car go 070161 pump so if you just Google this as " Car go 070161 fuel pump " there are lots of suppliers thank you good luck !!!!

So,got my ebay pump,no problemo.What a bitch to do though. A hole in the subframe to get a socket though would be marvellous,cheers Nissan. Must find out what controls the pump...
