great video. short and concise. entertaining as well. few things: I think suspens makes for better ending so rather than telling the viewer of the fix in the beginning you'd rather go thru it with them. secondly for the diyer it would help to give an alternative procedure because most of us don't have access to wiring diagrams (or can even use them) and other fancy devices. So an old school, maybe a little more involved way, will greatly help the diyer. I personally enjoyed it thoroughly. It is very well explained and clear to anyone with a fairly okay background in basic auto diagnostics. Thanks again and keep them coming. PS: if you could make special videos about tips and tricks for general and common repairs that'll help a lot and bring more of the novices to your channel.
@Autofixpals7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips. all great advice. I could make 2 versions of some videos using the same footage. This entire diagnosis could be done with a test light and a multimeter. I do plan on doing a video that explains how TPMS systems work. i know that's still kind of a mystery to a lot of people and a very common issue. I will try to make that as DIY friendly as possible.
@Usmanthemecano7 жыл бұрын
Auto Fix Pal or you could just add footnotes for the alternative procedure (the test light & multimeter way) at the key junctures. I absolutely hate tpms lol I live with the light on forever. That would definitely be a great addition. I know some require a fancy scan tool to reset them.

I just bought a used 2008 nissan xterra, 2 wheel drive. Ive only had it a week, and immediatelly it sometimes difficult starting it makes sounds trying to start but takes 5 - 10 seconds sometimes to finally fully turn on and engine run. But usually if its been running and only recentlly turned off , if i start it soon after it seems to usually start right up. I may be misremembering, but it seems to have more difficulty starting fully if its been turned off for a few hours or overnight. Guy who sold it to me said nothing about it, but i dont trust him at this point, as no way it literally just started happening the day i bought it from him. I had battery tested and its good, only a year and a half old. And i noticed a slight fuel smell today inside the xterra while driving it. Unfortunately i was told by oreillys auto parts when i asked about getting a new fuel filter that this model xterra doesnt have just a simple fuel filter that is easy to access and remove and replace alone, as its instead supposely inside the friggin fuel tank and has to remove the friggin fuel tank and replace whole fuel assembly and buy and whole new fuel assembly to replace fuel filter. Which is nearly $400 for just the part! What batshoot craxy dumb design instead of jjust having fuel filter outside fuel tank easy to access and replace like some vehicles.. And this xterra has a built in alarm system connected to a chip in the key, apparently. When locking and leaving vehicle apparently after getting a certain distance from vehicle thealarm automatically arms. Suddenly today when i drove to auto store and turned engine off and removed key, immediatley as i opened door to exit the vehicle the alarm suddenly went on making alarm noises for a minute. Had no idea how to turn it off or why it suddenly started alarming as i was still in vehicle with the key in my hand. It at least stopped alarming sound after a minute. Just concerned as it shouldnt do that and have no idea why it did or if its going to again and how to stop it.

I got a question, I have a 05 xterra and here is whats up. My wife's car had a check light for bank 1 cam position sensor and leakey valve covers forever. Using your video which was super helpful I did the valve covers changed the plugs and replaced the cam position sensor and VVT sensors on bank 1 and two because they were listed as possible culprits for the check engine light. Keep in mind that besides the smell of burnt oil the car ran great started great. So here is what is up the car is hard to start now with the new sensors... like it used to fire right up, now it has to cycle for like 4-5 seconds before it fires. So I took the intake off again and re-checked everything . I looked at all the plugs but one....the firewall on the drivers coil bolt was acting weird like it would loosen but not release tension. This could be my culprit but I have a hunch that its not. I just put it here because its questionable. Now , the car runs great it doesn't hesitate or stumble I drove it 100 mile yesterday let it idle for long periods of time and no issues just the long cycle on the start? So my thought is the cam timing is off and the guy before who installed the engine adjusted the timing with his fancy scanner, if that is possible so that the car ran right with the bad sensors? and now that it has good sensors .....the cam timing is off? I know it is a long shot but that is what i'm thinking.Honestly I am not even sure if a nice scanner like at the place that installed the engine could do that or not? Or is there a relearn process for the computer that I need to do when replacing vvt or cam position sensor. I did disconnect the throttle body which is how I found this video? God Bless I love your videos, I am pretty mechanically inclined, but I am in uncharted territory right now as this is not my cj or a small block Chevy and it seems like one sensor is messing all of this up. I could take it apart and put the old sensors back, but that just would get my goat if it was still doing this? Help Please
@elonsus97473 жыл бұрын
The cam position sensor you got is probably bad. I would go to a Nissan dealer and get one from them. I installed eBay ones from Nissan for 20$ for all 3. Of course one was bad, and it would crank and crank, and it took a few more times to start. I didn’t feel like doing the job myself again and paid a mechanic to do it. The part from Nissan was like 200$ I should of just left the original ones in to begin with, I wasn’t getting any codes but after sitting for a few hours after driving my car would crank longer than usual and then start. But I would start there personally.

Auto Fix Pal Hi I have 05 pathfinder Have intermittent no fuel situation Sprayed start fluid in vacuum line like you suggested and she fired up so went to plug on fuel pump to test power to plug Had no voltage but was not sure if I have to be cranking to get power to pump? Plugged pump back in turn on car and she started , and ran for a few days no back to no start just cranks again I changed the fuel pump a few months ago could I have a bad pump? Also I swapped out relay ecm with fog light relay when I got it started a few days ago. Questions 1 - how do I check pump is good? 2 - should I be cranking to check voltage a pump plug? Thanks 🙏
@Autofixpals5 жыл бұрын
@@egegg5916 yes you need to be cranking to check voltage at the fuel pump. It should be the 2 thicker wires in the plug. you will only have power there when cranking. Have a buddy crank while you check for power. Its possible you could have a connection issue at the connector, be sure to inspect the plug well or it could be a defective pump.

@Autofixpals5 жыл бұрын
You said the starter does not crank? there is 2 wires on the starter a big wire straight from the battery and another small wire that is controlled more or less by the ignition switch. You should have 12 volts on the smaller wire when the key is turned to the crank position. If you have good power (can flow current) at the small wire when trying to start the car then you have a bad starter.
