@@PistonShack Thank you again!!! Had a little trouble as I was uncertain of the torque specs, but I got them from the FSM. Hardest part for me was lining the transmission back perfectly. But the most annoying thing was getting the crankshaft position sensor off and back on, and I might have put it back on wrong as my truck only starts after 3 turns of the key, LOL. As far as it running though, it's running perfectly. No noises, no hesitation, no lag, no issues whatsoever. Changing out the fluid was easy too, maybe just a product of a manny tranny.

@@lowrivera It wasn't easy for me as well to alight the tranny. You can replace crank sensor later (just remove front drive shaft to get access to the top of the bell housing). According to Nissan Xterra Shop Manual Crank sensor is not used for engine timing. I would check for vacuum leaks, ignition timing and general tune up (filters, spark plugs, wires ect.)

@@PistonShack Should I replace the flywheel bolts and clutch fork? 2003 w/ 146k miles. I'm also wondering if the flywheel is resurfaceble, can only find answers about the second gen frontier/xterra, which I think is a dual mass and can't be resurfaced.

@@ggKampii Yes, you should always replace flywheel bolts (same as head-bolts - one time use). I won't worry about fork it doesn't damaged or worn out. Nowadays, cheaper get new flywheel than take it to machine shop, I will go with a new one only. Dual-mass flywheel only can be replaced - I never heard about resurfacing dual mass. If you do flywheel I will recommend replacing rear main seal as well with seal retainer. I did mine 4 years ago on this Xterra. Cheers brotha!

@@PistonShack thank you! Ordered a new flywheel. When you did the oil retainer, did you use the oil retainer gasket (the one that goes against the block and retainer) Did you do RTV on both sides of the gasket, or just one side.

@@ggKampii When I did my main seal, I ordered rear main seal with retainer, retainer paper gasket and oil pan half moon shape rubber gasket, plus new flywheel bolt from local Nissan dealer. Yes, I retainer gasket, applied light coat of petroleum resistant gasket maker to both sides of the retainer paper gasket. Don't forget to lubricate main seal lip before installing. I also applied sealant (Nissan manual) where oil pan, engine block and retainer meet each other, otherwise retainer will leak at the oil pan. Make sure no any oil left on surfaces before applying sealant.

So I'm pulling my engine its a 2002 xterra manual transmission 2wd I went to pick n pull and pulled an engine out of automatic transmission now when I dropped the dust cover for the bell housing I gained access to the flywheel and the 4 bolts for the torque converter i removed and the engine came out now im trying to do the same thing on my manual transmission but I don't see the 4 bolts to remove the engine. Do I have to drop transmission to get to the flywheel? And do I just switch flywheels from the old engine? Did I mess up buying a engine from a automatic transmission ? Do I disconnect the drive line and pull the engine and tranny together ? Or are the bolts im looking for on the other side of the flywheel?

Hey Sean you did almost right everything. No mess buying engine which was paired with AT transmission. I would say it even better. If you just need to do engine swap on your manual gearbox Xterra. I would pull engine out and leave tranny on a vehicle. Just undo bell-housing bolts from the engine, disconnect some wiring ect. swap or install new flywheel to your new pick and pull engine donor. Hey brother! Disconnect transfer case range indicator switch, then light should turn off. Most likely selector switch stuck ON permanently ect.
