One strategy for druid of purification is not to target the obvious threat. Somebody will target the rhystic study, nobody is going to agree to leave that up, so choose something else so they have a harder time colluding

I run Fatal Grudge in my Juri deck. It's red black for "sacrifice a nonland permanent, each opponent sacrifices a permanent that shares a card type with it. Draw a card". I guess it's a bit niche since you sacrifice something yourself and it's not targeted, but for a commander like Juri it fits within the gameplan AND you get a card back for playing it. Using it in the early game before your opponents are starting to snowball feels quite good since the chance of hitting something relevant is bigger in my experience. I got rid of my friends One Ring with it which felt great lol

I was very high on these type of cards until I realised they draw a ton of hate. They make you the archenemy for no good reason becuse you aren't dropping a game winning bomb you're just making people angry for no reason. On top of that, what usually happens, in my games anyway, is that ONE person is going off and has a bunch of threats you want to remove, which you can't with most of these cards (Druid of Purification could though, if everyone targets the same player).
@gemkid8511 ай бұрын
So what would swords do to that player? Still only hitting one permanent. The players should also understand that removal is a part of the game. Good bye smothering tithe
@ekuude9 ай бұрын
Politic more. Unexpected absence says "up to one" so you don't have to hinder the player who's doing nothing. Make an example allows players to make piles of 0 cards, you can make it so your ally sacs nothing. I like these a lot bc they give you flexibility of how much you actually want to eliminate from the table whereas board wipes are just indiscriminate. I gave up on 1 for 1s bc no one else played removal at my table. It gets old using everything you have to stop the powerful deck, just to lose once the "smol bean" durdle deck finally turns on at turn 11 and you're out of resources...at least with cards like this you can keep things in check without necessarily pissing off each opp equally

Not-Optional modes, like soul shatter, can really ruin your ability to team up with other people to go against a single arch enemy. If every removal you cast also hurts your temporary allies you likely wont be perceived as "helping" the table.

if my deck is nonflyers in it, and no artifacts or enchantments then i love cards like: creeping corrosion hurricane corrosive gale arashi the sky asunder steelbane hydra ----- i also like creatures with lifelink or healing. like pelakka wurm, wurm coil engine, batterskull, obstinate balloth. generally healing alot in a 4 player match can be quite a good thing. i also like westvale abby. the board removals mentioned above though generally harm the opponents more than they harm me.
@RazgrizAce6711 ай бұрын
Card you didn't mention: Curse of Fenric. Played that today and it was BRUTAL. For 4 mana, Saga that immediately, you kill the best creature of each opponent, and possibly convert a tiny token you have into a 3/3 with death touch. Then you get rid of one more of your opponents key creatures over next 2 turns. Like a 5 for 1 especially if you are not deck trying to win through combat. Can be a 6 for 1 if your opponents attack anyone by trading with deathtouch token. People are sleeping on this one I think cuz it seems so goofy.

If you're saying you ***have to*** hit one of your own things, the part you're missing is the "...up to...". The option to do so is there, but if you don't have some worthless token to trade for a cloaked card, exiling 0 target nonland permanents you (or any other player, for that matter) control satisfies the requirement of exiling "up to 1" nonland permanent from each player.

Because it kind of stinks. How often are there 3 threats controlled by different players on the field? Almost never, because if there was 3 things that needed to die the game has gone completely off the rails; no one has removal? No one has been killed by these threats? The threats don't keep each other in check? Most of the time this card is going to take out 1 real threat and 2 things that are fairly irrelevant. The dream scenario of taking out 3 actual threats will rarely come up. Taking out 1 real threat for 4 mana is a bad deal.

@jayjayhooksch110 ай бұрын
@@Zzmj975 you sure you want to be hitting mana dorks with this? ~35% of the time it's going to cloak a creature off the top. Since you presumably didn't cast this card until the mid game, you're just giving them a free shot at upgrading their mana dork. Giving a cloak is significantly worse than giving a generic token, and I think people are underestimating that.
