The "Everything is canon" line makes me think of how the Mad Max films eventually reconciled all the contradictions between the movies with "they're post apocalyptic folk stories" and Max is basically a legendary figure in the wasteland akin to King Arthur or Robin Hood. Painful, Pointless, and Hopeful might all contradict each other, but if you take it as not everyone knowing the whole story and embellishing details like "I heard this Brad guy took on 24 guys and won!" then you have room for a setting of infinite possibilities.

About the guns and ammo bit. I feel that for the most part, Pointless went for a more "realistic" approach. After all, Enemies do far more damage while armed, bottles are basically lethal, and even Alex's moves cause self harm. And then you look at Hopeful/Painful, with people flying headfirst at mach speed, Finger lasers, and bullets do no more than a single punch. With the pointless, its a different approach to the setting, which allows for a stronger impact when Joel actually considers firing his gun, or when Alex gets heatstroke or sick from the garbage.

Jessie Spencer I think that maybe ammo would be more common since you CAN make ammo with the right tools and skills but making a whole gun is a whole other story since you need to get the spring, the right external parts, mold them into the gun, find all the right internal parts and put them together and even still there is a chance it blows up in your face.

I don't think that's one hundred percent accurate. The Pointless had its fair shake of Finger Lasers, dudes punching off joy mutants heads and so on. On the guns and ammo approach I think that most people don't know just HOW RARE Joel's firearm actually is. It's accurate its a weapon used to hunt big game...so its a bolt action pistol that takes a specially modified pistol cartridge that is big even for a rifle. Its ridiculously rare outside of the apocalypse. Bullets are easy to make, I had a family member who made them for a hobby and I can tell you that it doesn't take someone smart to do a job anyone with atleast a single synapse and the ability to pull a lever can do most of the leg work to make a bullet for a common firearm like...a 9mm for example but a bullet like that wouldn't be made after the apocalypse. Hell, its barely made now.

IRmightynoob sorry for the late approach but I think the gun that Joel’s grandad is using is actually a thunder 50 BMG pistol. Well it certainly looks like one and it can take down rhinos if you take in the flashback as being real.

Just like Yume Nikki, LISA has a large ground for telling stories in the same universe. I mean, there is not so much to do with a complete story like Undertale: pre/sequels, AU's... Really late comment : I’ve been super deep into Lisa thanks to u James and something else I noticed about BeltBoy is he is basically a good version of Buzzo besides having real names and nicknames starting with B , they were both manipulated by girls from their childhood , both have Mohawk esc hairstyles , both have their eyes hidden ( Buzzo with his helmet , BeltBoy with his shades ) and both have goofy shit eating grins . Does anyone in any of the lisa universe ever address the fact that 1 women isn't nearly enough to survive past a few generations? With a genetics board approving all mating for only the most genetically diverse offspring the bare minimum to avoid genetic bottle necking from inbreeding is still around 50. Well exactly the super mutants are part of the in game world and so they give plenty of lore to explain how it works within this fictional world. Since the women is such a focus of the plot It seems to have so much opportunity for a plot point there. Either what this worlds rules are or the crushing acknowledgement that its all just for a small inbred generation also bent for doom

Actually, it's not necessarily all like that, I believe the Lisa kind of society is mostly in Olathe. The fact that there are no females must have something to do with Dr Yado and the flash, and even he had a daughter, which he used to experiment on the people of Olathe. So I doubt he destroyed humanity that way. And also, it is mentioned that Joy was created for the army, but obviously failing in creating super-soldiers, so the wasteland might just be a region which was used to experiment with it

Then since it's not just one dude, there's a lot of them, people could come in from outside the family, just hoping they have all girls for a while too. But I'm not a scientist, that just seems like it would hypothetically work.

I fell for the joy trap near the end so hard... Had a hunch that something wasn't right when the game started handing out joy left and right and an optional boss that was so strong you NEEDED joy to deal with him, but I didn't expect it to actually make a difference. That's something I disliked about the original LISA game, played through it without popping a single joy on any partymember and it didn't effect the ending (which makes sense since Brad was knee deep in the addiction from the start).

Well, most of the Nintendo fangames that I've seen taken down were straight-up remakes or sequels of old games (or even games still getting official sequels, like Pokemon), so the situation is somewhat different and you could argue a bit more reasonable. @@k-leb4671 another part of the reason from what I can tell is that they could lose rights to an IP if they do not quell this kind of stuff, especially ones that require payment. ontop of that, they don't go after absolutely everything, there are many things that they don't go after simply put because they don't have the time or workforce to deal with, such as actual bootleggers, and don't forget, would you buy another game like say Pokemon if you found someone making fan made games that were doing not just a reasonable job at it, but instead of a new one that costs money every so often, the game is either just updated or a new one comes out at no charge? As much as I wish Nintendo would allow fan made projects or even hire the makers to start making official off shoots, but we don't live in a world where everything is free and laws never need to be enforced because no one breaks them.

I just finished this game and I´m blown away. Although I find the ending to be a bit rushed it was just amazing. The characters were so intruiging and it was easy to feel relatable. I wonder if there´s ever going to be a sequel? I wish I could know more about the characters. I think there´s so much opinion. Both hopeful and pointless have been the best fan-games so far Spoilers: Frankly I found the death´s of both of my mates even sadder than anything that happened in joyful atleast.

Guns in the original Lisa the Painful also sucked so I don't think people should think much about it. We should just accept that guns do worse than hand to hand combat, Brad literally shoots fireballs as one of his techniques so there's a bit of fantasy in the combat.

I loved Lisa: The Hopeful, but I'm currently put off by the intense difficulty spike at the end. While in Lisa: The Painful, Brad gets buffed and the enemies get weakened since he is on his own now, it does not do the same for Lisa: The Hopeful, which usually causes me to chug a health item, get hit for half hp, have to keep chugging until they miss or dont use any attack for one turn, then it repeats until I run out. I'll probably try again at the end later.

I feel like with the small amount of damage beltboy’s guns do they might be air soft guns or such. Hard hitting enough to break skin but not an instant kill like a real gun. This would explain the difference between pointless and hopeful where one bullet is a huge deal but then this guy is slinging around hundreds of bullets while doing mediocre damage.

Two theories I've heard about guns in LISA: 1. Everyone has horrible aim and can't hit for shit in combat. Every bullet just grazes until that one lucky lethal hit. 2. All of the ammo is made from scrap and is much weaker than regular ammo, which is for the most part depleted.

When you either give players the devkit tools or the freedom to make games off an IP you'll always be amazed by what people can create, it's how some people end up getting hired in the industry. A good example I can think of is Sonic Mania, that upcoming 2D platformer whose developers originally made fangames before being hired by SEGA to produce an official game.
