I’ve had Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my F-150 now for two years. I live in Ohio and have been awesome. Put them to the test in all conditions & never been disappointed.

Thank you for taking the time to make this review. Well, I’m mostly a highway driver but tend to go off on weekend hunts in the country. I’ve had two separate sets of the ridge grapplers and both were horrible in wet traction and didn’t last very long. The siping of the ridge grapplers are horrible as both sets on mine literally disappeared and at just 15k miles. Finally switched back to the BFG KO2’s and never looked back. New truck and now on Toyo AT3’s, great tire so far.

Good to hear your opinion on the new replacement tires bud, a nice looking tire that fits the factory wheels nicely! I am not elated with the factory all-season Goodyear 22's on my Limited & am looking forward to a slightly wider beefier tire like what you show there. Thank you for sharing Justin!

Yeah I was pretty disappointed with the factory tires. Got 40-45k miles out of them, but they didn’t feel safe in wet conditions.

My personal favorite tire has been the Cooper At3 Xlt's. Load range D. Best all around tire that I've ever owned for miles, towing, road noise, snow, rain, on and mild off road. I used to tow every day and I would get 40,000 miles out of a set pulling 7,000lbs 5 days a week. Rotated every 10k miles
@MrJustinWheeler
@MrJustinWheeler Жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried those yet. 40k miles with that much towing is respectable for sure.

@@MrJustinWheeler I've run both the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S (Passenger tire) and the AT3 XLTs (Light Truck). One 4S set and One XLT set on my 19 Ram 1500, as well as my two sets on my 20 grand cherokee. I've gotten over 60k each on those three sets. Rolling onto 40k on the XLTs on my ram now with about half tread left. Gotta pay attention to loads when using the 4s if you're gonna tow heavy on the truck (p tire ratings are weird for trucks), but they were much quieter and had no noticeable differences in traction compared to the XLT(snow/ice/dry/wet/gravel/dirt).

I absolutely can say they are one of the best set of tires I’ve ever owned, I didn’t tow with mine that much as I mainly used mine for the bed. I had over 70k and they still had 7/32nd when I serviced it before I traded mine in. All hwy for me and mucky job sites along with the Co snow phenomenal tire in all aspects.

Form what I’ve been told by a tire shop is that the mountain snowflake tires have a softer compound for winter, which also means that they won’t last as long as the non snowflake tire which use a harder compound

I'm on my second set of Ridge Grapplers. The first set was on my 2015 Ram and were the same size as the factory tire. They were one of the best tires I have ever used for winter driving. Especially in the slush. Keep in mind though that the tires were installed just a few months before the onset of winter and I traded the truck in that January. So I don't have a long term report for those tires. The 2nd set is on my current 2019 Ram truck. I installed 33 x 12.5 x 22 and I have over 50,0000 miles on them with decent tread life left on them. I must say though, the wet and snow traction are absolutely horrible on these. It's actually dangerous. It just proves that tire size makes does make a huge difference in performance.

Great, informative video’s Justin! Question on your Nitto’s you use, are they XL, D or E rated? I have XL but am very much considering changing to D or E rated tires for a firmer ride when towing my bumper pull camper. The load range is 200 pounds more for the XL than the D rated tire but the D won’t be as “soft” as the XL. I have the limited with the auto air bags. Great truck, all I drove before were Silverado’s. My last Silverado was nothing but problems with oil coolant lines blowing and a rough transmission.

The Toyo open country R/T trail are a good tire too. They are lightweight and get great traction. And here’s the thing you didn’t mention is you always should think about replacing your tires every 4 to 5 years if they need it or not especially if you tow heavy or go off road.

Man 120k out of Terra Grapplers. That may be my next tire. I have Continental TerrainContacts A/T's on right now and I really like them. They're quiet and super grippy on wet pavement, but I don't think they're going to last 45-50k miles.

Coming from duratracs on all my trucks, I tried a set of the ridge grapplers…no comparison, they’re worse in the rain, and worse in the snow. They are though much quieter, wear better and last longer, but I get generally 60k-70k on my duratracs so not to much difference.

Wow 120,000 miles on a set of tires is unheard of for me! I recently had a set of Falcon Wildpeak AT3W put on my 2020 Ram and hoping to get 50,000 out of them but time will tell! In your video, you ran the truck through water pretty fast. Just wondering, how do you think that might affect the manifolds and bolts given that they are already susceptible to expansion and contraction at different rates for the block and manifolds?
@MrJustinWheeler
@MrJustinWheeler Жыл бұрын
Haha, it’s probably NOT good on the manifolds. Luckily the engine wasn’t very warm when I took the plunge. But we know these manifolds are likely to crack again in time. I’m just accelerating my future header purchase. 😂
@TheNewenglandboys
@TheNewenglandboys Жыл бұрын
@@MrJustinWheeler So you’re saying you would replace the manifolds with headers? I’m unfamiliar with “headers” So why would headers make a difference? And I’m presuming the first time you replaced them that manifolds were used due to warranty coverage but not what you would have chosen?

Well ,the Nitto grapplers wear well but they our terrible on snow,ice,and wet conditions. I have a F 250 4x4 diesel and got stuck in 4 inches of snow with a little ice. Got rid of them. They are a great tire for dry payment or driving in areas where there is little or no snow or ice.

I was a falken fan boy until just recently. I have the AT3Ws on my F150 and my Jeep. I bought them for my F150 first and I have been through some decent snow, mud, gravel etc. I enjoyed them so much that I bought a full set (5 with the spare) for my Jeep. I just went and measured the tread and two of my tires are at 3/32 and the other two are at 4-5/32. I found my receipt from when they were installed and I have around 22,000 miles on them. Granted I mostly tow my bass boat when I use my truck, but that is pitiful. They were the P rated instead of LT to save some weight and maybe that was the difference. But now I am really disappointed and will probably get the ridge grapplers this time.
@EngineeringGoneWrong
@EngineeringGoneWrong Жыл бұрын
I don't know if I got a bad set or what but the ridge grapplers were some of the worst tires I've ever owned. Everything was great until about 40k miles in. (Mind you they had plenty of tread depth at this point). The rubber compound was shot. They were so slippery in rain I literally needed 4x4 to go up steep hills I'm NOT exaggerating. They actually had more traction in lighter snow then in rain. They were truly dangerous, by 60k miles I wound up taking them off, whe they still had like 7/32nd of tread. I just didn't feel safe anymore. I've had ALOT of tires before and even piss worn mud tires handled rain better then those things. I was shocked. Never again.
@MrJustinWheeler

I noticed these tires are Q speed rated and not H rated like the stock good year. I'm worried about the on road handling of these, especially since i do practically no offroading and only deal with snow a d sometimes dirt roads and gravel but mostly highway conditions. I'm guessing these wear quicker than stock tires and don't handle as well either. The only benefit i can tell is the cool aggressive look.

So I’m having a tire issue with my 2020 limited. I’ve got about 60 thousand miles on my truck all highway and this thing is killing tires. I didn’t even get 25k out of the factory ones Second set were rated to 50k not even going to get close to that. Took the truck to discount tire and spoke with them about the warranties and pretty much was told there’s nothing they can do until they are completely bald When I bought this truck I didn’t realize I’d be replacing tires every year like a sports car.

I have the factory Falkens on my 2020 and they are excellent tires. I've got 40k on them now, and probably drove the past 10k on them with a front end alignment issue that I finally had time to fix last week, so a couple of my tires have slightly worn shoulders. I should have taken care of the alignment sooner but even with the extra wear I think these tires will make it to at least 50k or 60k, which is unfortunate since I've been itching to move up to bigger tires, lol. Haven't had any traction issues in rain, light snow, or muddy county roads. So these are great factory tires to have to "live" with until the next tire upgrade.
