200k is solid for any vehicle. Hemi is a great engine. We have 160k on our 2012 Hemi. Still purring 11 years later. We’ve pulled out cars and trucks from the ditch. Long road trips. Towed with it. Love our Ram 💪

I have a 2020 Laramie 1500 e-torque with 160,000 miles. Only replaced the basics. Zero engine issues, e-torque flawless (I was slightly worried when I bought it). Planning to go over 200,000 with it. Also bought a 2023 Laramie 1500 e-torque this week as a second truck. Hopefully I get the same good luck. Just take care of it and you’re good. Great video!

I have a story for you: Just got back 7.27.23 from a Road trip in this same truck but without air ride it’s a Laramie with 32k miles. It’s my son’s truck, RAM 1500 just went 2,476k miles towing a 36 foot RV, 8,500 pound dry and likely 10k loaded with three adults and gear, from Dallas, Texas to Pace, Arizona (Lake Powell) then to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and back to Dallas, Texas. The mountains were no joke. The truck pulled that trailer at 75-80 miles per hour most of the way 75% of the time we were at 3,000-3,500 rpm 5th gear and 25% at 4,000-4,500 rpm 3rd and 4th gear, it wouldn’t hold that speed flat or go up a hill in 6th, 7th or 8th gear the temperature out side was 105-109 degrees. -The oil temp at its highest for a short while was 268 degrees most of the time between 250-260. AMS Oil Ultra so no issues there but did seem high. -Coolant temp 215-221 -Trans temperature 194-201 -37” tires lifted 6” Everything possible was working against the truck. Max tow weight, over loaded payload, way larger tires than stock, Mountains for days, over a mile above sea level, temps well over 105, and lifted 6” and it’s a black truck :) MPG for the duration of the trip was 7.8 He does have a Boral Attack exhaust so it was noisy. Absolutely a durable great truck. You will need to lock out the gears and shift them on your own, letting off the throttle until the shift is completed. You will burn up your transmission if you don’t do this! Great Truck RAM!!

@@Gooddog1 TFL The Fast Lane Truck does the very best comparisons of all trucks when towing, MPG loops both with a trailer and without, and other details. Thanks for the update! Just a little note on the UOA, elements like Calcium and Magnesium are actually added by the oil manufacturer as detergents to neutralize acid and having "lower than average" doesn't mean anything, you actually want higher numbers there as it generally means a more stout formula. However its the total formulation that matters, magnesium might be half of calcium or another formula might favour high amounts of magnesium and less calcium. Moly is very important of our hemis, it's an additive meant to reduce friction and wear as well. The actual wear elements we need to worry about are Aluminum, Chromium, Copper, and Iron as those come from your engine and not the oil.

Have similar 2020 Limited - not surprised- feel the same way - thing has been flawless and a pleasure to drive (quiet/comfortable). Have a split tailgate and I'd never want another truck without it - makes placing/removing materials so much easier since you don't have to lean over the tailgate. I also added a fold-away step that makes climbing into the bed a breeze. To get both the Rambox and split tailgate, I had a choice of 3 trucks in the US. One in California, one in Colorado and one in Florida. Rare as hen's teeth and that was before covid hit. Very impressive truck - I've owned Ford and Chevy too, so not brand loyal - the RAM is simply the best truck you can buy.

My 2019 1500 5.7 Hemi Laramie Longhorn (no eTorque) is at around 90,000 miles. I have gotten the oil changed every 3,000 miles. Did the brakes at 80,000 miles along with the diff and transfer case services and I'm on the second set of tires and a new battery. By far, the best vehicle I have owned and it still drives like the day I bought it back in May of 2018. Apart from some small stupid electrical anomalies when the truck was new such as speed sensors on the wheels and the cluster lighting up like a Christmas tree, all have been overcome quickly. Hopefully she'll keep going long into the 200 thousands and beyond.

At 210,00 i had my rotors turned and put on new pads. Lifetime fluid is a myth. It's good for the life of the warranty. I changed the fluid and both filters in my NAG 5 speed automatic and it shifts perfectly every time. On the floor, it barks the tires on the 1-2 shift. I'd line up next to yours any time and show you my dented up rear bumper. A good tune really changes these truck's attitude actually improves the gas mileage. I went from 18.6 at 60mph bone stock to 21.4 after the tune and slight mods. These engines are choked to death from factory. Change a few parts and let them breathe. It will be a totally different truck.

I use my 2020 Ram 1500 5.7 to tow my 30 ft. 6,500 lb travel trailer from Northern Michigan to South Florida each winter and accumulate about 4,000 towing miles each year. No air springs on my truck so it makes the quality of the hitch much more important. Using a 4-point sway Equilizer hitch, about $750 complete makes this a fairly stress tree experience. Buy a good hitch, drive no more than 65 mph and pay attention to tire pressure and wheel bearings and you can haul your home on wheels anywhere. Great trucks!

That's awesome. My 2010 has 214,000 mile with a very original unopend engine. Original cam, lifters, pushrods.... everything. At 160,000 miles, I had it tuned, headers, full exhaust, new sparkplugs, .. just a really good tune-up. The tune makes it run better than new Doesn't use or leak any fluids. Id easily drive it from Mississippi to anywhere across this continent and just have to worry about gas.

Starting to find my way to these videos but this one specifically is so reassuring. Just hit 72k on my ‘22 1500 that I bought brand new. Given it’s my 2nd Hemi; 1st one ‘14 Charger R/T bought at 26k traded in early ‘20 at the beginning of the pandemic with 122k problem free miles, I kind of have some faith in the reliability of the engine. But Seeing that a properly well maintained same gen truck made it to 200k without any major problems is something that solidifies my faith in the Ram brand. Good Stuff 👍🏽

Speaking of replacing lights and the interior,just reminded of all the 1970’s and 80’s trucks that had little light bulbs in the dashes which I grew up driving around in, and the circuit boards that all burned out and had to be replaced, it seemed like every truck had a bad light .I miss the older cars and trucks that you grew up fixing as the parts weren’t throw away, you fixed starters, alternators,rebuilt calipers, things broke down,and were fixed ,today many dealer techs are just part chargers, as the dealer simply has if you see this do this in their repair mindset , swap out the whole component ,they don’t want their techs rebuilding ,or repairing a lot of the parts, due to simple maintenance come backs being prevented, which makes sense in many ways I guess, it’s like heads,and superchargers they have them swap the whole unit out instead of repairing them, which is wasteful but still helps with come backs I guess..

My 19' Longhorn just hit 70k.The air suspension makes towing a dream and the 3.21 gear isn't bad at all. I do get concerned when I see 230+ oil temps and water temps over 222. Highest I've seen so far was 234 oil temp, 225 water temp towing 5500lbs going up a small mountain on a fairly cool day. I guess they can live and survive running that hot on a regular basis, but what are your thoughts on how hot they run.
@MrJustinWheeler
@MrJustinWheeler Жыл бұрын
My experience has been similar to yours. I’ll see temps over 220 for oil and coolant pretty regularly when I’m in Texas during the summer. I’ve never had a warning light or anything come on, so I haven’t been too concerned. So far, so good. (:
@383Spec3
@383Spec3 Жыл бұрын
@@MrJustinWheeler At 220 coolant temp I can hear the fan go into high to cool down the engine, but that's it. In my BMW racecar if my engine temps hits 220 it starts to pull power and over 225 I'm beginning to risk a head gasket so it's interesting the 5.7 is surviving those temps just fine. I'm still shocked it's completely normal for these trucks to run so hot all the time without long term negative effects.

The big question is…… are you buying another one? When it’s time to purchase another truck for work, are you going to go back with a Ram?
@MrJustinWheeler
@MrJustinWheeler Жыл бұрын
That IS the big question. But there are a lot of variables there to consider. I’d buy my truck over again in a heartbeat. There is a possibility my exact truck won’t be an option in 2024 when I’m ready to make a switch. We already know you can’t get a Hemi without etorque. Possible you can’t get a new Hemi at all in 2024. I’m not opposed to other makes/models, but we will just have to see what Ram offers when I’m ready for a new one.

The people who designed and built the trans (ZF did, not Chrysler marketing group) says the transmission absolutely needs regular fluid changes. Theyre on record saying that. Now, changing it at 200k plus might bring issues, might not. But changing it every 50k would made for a very long lived transmission. Same with the rear axle and transfer case.

I’m curious to know how you drive.. can we get a video about your driving habits? Has your truck been mainly highway, city, off road. What’s the split. Do you hot dog the truck at all like get in it at times. Etc. would be highly interested to know. I have had a 19 big horn and now a 22 TRX. I just have a hard time getting away from RAM. Just too many great experiences. My daily is a 22 silverado with the little 2.7. But boy would I trade the 22 in for my 19 big horn new body back. Still I’m interested to see how the 2.7 does for me. Hey Nico. I do drive a lot of highway miles. But I’m not a full time delivery driver or hot shot driver. My full time job is in an office in a major city. So I have plenty of city driving with almost daily traffic. My truck is also off-road a significant amount. When I’m not in the office I am traveling to well sites across the country. I’m not climbing boulders (usually), but sand, gravel, and deep mud is a weekly occurrence.

( I live in one of the worst parts of the rust belt ) so typically vehicles fail because the body will rot out, the brake and fuel lines will fall over before the vehicles 10 years old stainless steel or not doesn't make much difference, exhaust systems always fail, suspension parts have their bolts and mounts rot off so when bushings go bad you can't replace them because the bolts simply no longer exist. And I have to say the absolute worst vehicles I've seen for rot are modern F150's and Rams and those chevy suv's the tahoes and suburbans. Where I live, I see trucks as new as 2016 with rot holes in the sides. Just can't bring myself to spend 60,000+ on a throw away vehicle. (Again talking about the rust belt) for the rest of the world its probably a great vehicle.

Glad to see you’re having luck with your new ram you got a 1 in 1000 unit. My family friend (mopar guy like myself) traded his 2019 in for an F-150 about 9 months after buying it because it was having multiple electrical problems and some other odd and end problems, my co-worker also bought a new 2020 and has had several problems with it as well including the tailgate not opening leaking coolant as well, he said he’s gonna try and keep her but it’s not looking good since the usb ports have started to malfunction. As for myself I bought a 2019 warlock and have had constant electrical problems with it, cruise control bottom went out, screen randomly freezing, automatic windows work when they feel like it, windshield wipers only have two speeds currently and my windshield sprayers have now broken twice even while using washer fluid rate for -30. Needless to be said I just placed my order for and F-150 myself I’ve been very underwhelmed with the build quality of my Ram 1500 the interior has my squeaks and rattles than my 05 Ram 1500 regular cab. I’ve gone from a mopar or no car guy to a mopar or no car? Looks like I’m walking guy🤷‍♂️

My friend, as a owner of 3 ford's now, I did the same mistake as you and ordered 22 f150 with 5.0. Transmission is garbage and it's not just my truck, I've had tons of loaners due to lots of warranty repairs on my ford's, and let me tell you, after driving them all xlts and lariat, 2.7, 3.5, 3.3, 5.0 all transmissions are just not good. Had 4 appointments in a year now, and it's a bit better, but now I'm at the point that it's not as bad for the ford to fix it, and bad enough for me to hate driving it ( clunking, hard shifts, feeling all downshifts sort of like gear braking...) Overall my f150 was not worth the money I paid....

Justin, do you allow the MDS (4 cylinder) system to operate as designed? Also, A very trusted mechanic told me if you change the fluid in a high mileage transmisson just drain the fluid, refill, run it approx. 100 miles, drain and refill again. Do not flush as it may cause the thing to start slipping. I've done that on an old beater truck with 100K miles, and the tranny kept on changing fine. The fluid that came out was some nasty stuff for sure. 😀
