Would a powerglide for the 1/8 mile events be feasible?
@andrewnelson37332 жыл бұрын
PG with current gears would work. With better prep you throw more power at it. The TH400 gives you more power with the gear multiplication. If you gear it for the 1/8 with anticipation of good prep you need both the steep rear gear and the trans gearing. If not, a PG and steep rear gear OR a 1/4 rear and TH400 first works well. It becomes very difficult to kill that much gearing with turning down the engine it creates a whole new challenge.

If there is a bright side... transmissions usually fail because there was too much horsepower and it usually is the weakest link. If you can afford it a clutch and a 3 speed manual planetary gear set , just use the clutch on the start and shift manually without the clutch that's what Garrett Mitchell uses on Ruby his 1/8th mile car. He's got a five speed but he's running a 3.73 rear he ran a junkyard 4.7 liter in that for 2 years, but no matter what engine, drive train combination you use you're gonna wheely on some tracks and come unglued on others and sometimes it's the ambient temp.
