Matt Younkin's Beach 18 D was built in 1943, it's pretty much the same aircraft it was back then. It went through an extensive restoration around 2002...added lot of strobes and lights.

That old airplane looks pretty nice inside.

I have a lot of time in a Beech 18's and was very surprised that you forgot or didn't put the ust props into fine pitch on final in case you had to do a go around. I have seen some other Beech 18 videos on you tube of the same thing. Where are these pilots getting trained.

That's such a cool plane!

Is a Beech 18 something you'd recommend to other recreational pilots? I really love the idea of a 'bigger' plane, seems it'd be smoother & more forgiving to fly and you'd have more useful load to configure for vacations and other various trips. But I'd hate to think of fuel economy and maintenance costs. Really wish there was more aircraft in between like the size of a Baron and a Model 18.

not unless you have the time and money to take care of it. it will cost easily 3 times a baron just to keep her fed.

What are your typical minimums for takeoff and landing distances?
@nizexlizzy5 жыл бұрын
if I had to I could probably easily land on a 2000' strip but generally try to keep it to over 2500' if possible. 2000' would be a very stressful situation.

you have a lot of questions. It is a 1948 airplane. So of course not. Not being ugly but how old are you?

@@nizexlizzy My father and your grandfather were friends. I think he used to do my father's flight reviews as well. I doubt you'll remember, but we hung out together a handful of times a long time ago at your grandparent's place while my father helped out with a Pitts that was being rebuilt there. We went swimming and rode your motorcycle. I always enjoyed seeing your grandfather...always real nice to me.

tracy moore I am sorry but I don't remember. Old age apparently is catching up to me. What was your dad's name?

And your memory is much better because that is exactly what we would have been doing and my grandad was pretty awesome guy. 😀

Most good ANR's are better than DC'S. I have used Headsets Inc. Headsets for years. I loan mine out and Have sold many new headsets to DC users! They have a name not a good product!
