I appreciate pointing out how some of these cards were intended to (and fail to) work in their limited environments. I think it's more interesting to see what purpose a card is supposed to be serving than just making fun of them in isolation.

Yup and Wizards tends to agree with the sentiment. Simply put, some cards are only designed to be good in specific formats. Some are also intentionally bad for the purpose of people that like playing with bad cards. That is why I think the greatest sin in magic design is making bad AND boring cards. Those don't even see play in stuff like EDH and no one wants to pick in limited. Those are the true wastes of cardboard.

7:29 Interesting thing about Providence randomly metioning 26. Half of 26 is 13, Innistrad sets have several cards that mention 13.

Yeah, it feels like a "lore" card than anything else. Even if that were 2 mana cheaper I don't think it would improve it too much, but it's supposed to feel like regaining hope against the grim darkness around them.

I had a pretty decent Search the City deck in the standard of that year, since as you say - a lot easier to trigger it when you had access to flashback stuff from the previous Innistrad block. But it's not really a deck that survives well outside that specific environment.

What makes Structural Collapse even worse is that the only relevant artifacts in Gatecrash limited were keyrunes and situational rares

I've noticed that sets that come a rotation or two after broken standards tend to be powered way down. Return to Ravnica and Theros were responses to Zendikar/Scars standard, Ixalan to Kaladesh, etc. You could argue DnD, Kaldheim, and Strixhaven were a response to Eldraine standard too but I didn't play enough to really get a feeling for power level in those sets. Now this absolutely doesn't excuse the cards on this list, but I have found that this pattern can provide a tentative explanation for drastically powered down sets.

Mardu blazebringer is kind of decent now in vehicle commander decks just because it can crew pretty well. That's how I'm starting to use these kinds of cards now

I'd say Runaway Carraige is a bit better than Mardu Blazebringer due to its niche use in its limited environment. Since Carraige was in Shadows Over Innistrad, the fact that it was both an artifact and a creature meant that it had some use as an enabler for Delirium (although there's also much smaller and more cost-effective artifact creatures in the block)

Tireless Missionaries could cost 1W and would probably still see zero play. Hallmark of a bad card right there.

If it was 2 mana, it likely would see quite a bit of play in Standard, even now. It would be great to side in vs Aggro, and otherwise it is a 2 mana 2/3. Idk how much main board play it would see, but a lot of white decks would definitely side it in.

Ancient Carp seems like an omission here, as it's strictly worse than Keeper of the Cadence that also has a less useful creature type.

I have to disagree with Providence beeing on the list. It is very a sweet combo with Speaker of the Heavens, letting you create 4/4 angels from turn two. Righteous Valkyrie will also nicely pump your team. Providence can later be used for pitch spells. Magicaids made a video with the deck a couple of years ago.

Keeper of the Cadence becomes much more interesting with that recently spoiled Doctor Who legend that makes you draw from the bottom of the library. Seems like that thing is going to break a lot of old cards wide open.

If you want a comparison for how bad Flamecast Wheel is and want removal in colorless, Spatial Contortion costs 2 and is better in every way.

Providence does have potential to combo with speaker of the heavens, and it being a 7 mana white card means it can be pitched to force of virtue, solitude, and shining shoal. It just might see modern play who knows

Search the City would be awesome for Pack Rats decks. While those decks are horrible in the first place, the extra momentum would help... ...and then everything is wiped.

I've been playing Vintage for years. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've never heard of a maximum life total. I love to learn more about my special interests, could you please explain? I've had people concede because life total = time issues, but I've never been in a tourny where there was literally a max. Maybe it's a format to format issue. Vintage isn't very popular. The problem is that it is far too slow to ever see play anywhere (even Limited). It is a dead draw vs Aggro, vs Midrange it doesn't answer their threats, and vs control it either gets countered or they play a finisher (Etali, Atraxa, Breach the Multiverse, etc.) Even if you want a big blue enchantment to give you card advantage, you should something like One with the Multiverse, which can give you card advantage (since it lets you play stuff from the top of your library) and cheat stuff out.

I don't know how you choose these cards above others, because I'm pretty sure there is some random vanilla creatures in pioneer that, although more boring, are way worse than half this list...

Most of this list is stuff that's horrifically overcosted and/or has some sort of downside. Vanillas are inefficient, but even the worst of them do something for you, even if it's just attacking and blocking, more reliably than most of this list. Keeper of the Cadence def shouldn't be here, though. There are some vanillas with the same statline so it beats out those by default.
