Did my second prerelease today, opened a Valgavoth and Overlord of the Boilerbilges so i knew i was going to be in Rakdos, but I also had two copies of Reluctant Role Model, so I ended up in a black heavy Mardu deck. Unfortunately i only opened two copies of Live or Die as reanimation, so I wasn't sure how the deck would play. Ended up going 2-1, winning my first match by the skin of my teeth. Dropped to 1 life in game 3 and topdecked a Dissection tools with my Overlord already on the field, gaining 11 life and killing my opponent's flier in the process. Match 2 I completely overwhelmed my opponent, he had a few early fliers in the first game but I was able to remove them and take him out with an unchecked Reluctant Role Model. Match 3 was against a fairly aggro Orzhov deck that had a bunch of removal, he was able to answer all my threats pretty quickly and I wasn't able to find a second red source in time for my Overlord to do anything. Game 2 I had to hardcast Valgavoth because I had to use both of my Live or Die spells as removal. He had exiled a Reluctant Role Model with one of the white O-ring type spells, and used a Come Back Wrong to kill my Valgavoth, then used a kill spell on my newly returned Role Model and cast it using Valgavoth before it got sacrificed. I was already on the back foot anyway so it didn't matter much, but it was kind of funny to die to my own creature. Definitely had a lot more success with the deck than I thought I would!

Maybe the card ”flash” comes close to being a card named what it is? Allowing instant speed play of one monster, but also effectively restricts one more mana till blue.

1:09:58 why not equip it to the 5/4? Leaving the 7/6 on the ground forces the 4/4 to chump, puts them at 1 instead of 2, and can guarantee you keep your whole board if needed.

This set only has 4 reach creatures, and 2 of them are not even good. So we are back to fliers being good again, like LCI situation or even better. And that leads to Unable to scream being better than you expected, since blue plan to victory will usually involve flying over 0/2 blockers.

Yup, the 1/3 flying vigilance (erratic apparition) was actually a pretty real threat during my prerelease. Of course Abhorrent Oculus was also an absolute bomb when I could get it into play, although it did get stuck in my hand a few more times/turns than I would have liked.

It's not the exact same thing as text box = name, of course, but Urza's Saga has subtypes Urza's Saga, and there are several creatures named [something] Changeling that have the changeling text.

I’ve noticed the two drops for all the colors is pretty sparse at common, especially blue

Curiosity carried your games for sure. Can’t wait to brew with it in standard. Cryptid inspector also looks like the best payoff for manifesting dread.

I did a ugr manifest deck in the prerelease and almost milled myself. Manifested only lands and removal though

I’ve had really bad luck manifesting dread tbh 😂 did it 8 or so times across my prerelease games and hit a creature twice

I'm starting to feel manifest dread is kinda lousy as a main mechanic for a deck. For some value yeah sure. when you play there card manifest dread for example, you pay 2, get a 2/2, and then you have to pay for the cost of the creature to turn it face up to get some value out of the mechanic. Only way this works is if you get some triggers off the mechanic from other cards or it's late game and you have all the mana to turn stuff face up. The resurrect deck is nuts since it works well with delirium and manifest dread.

Fling comes to mind it's not a keyword ability, but it could be. abilities like it happen all the time.

Yeah but the fact it isn’t a keyword ability makes all the difference. We just colloquially call it a Fling effect based on that card. It’d be way different if the original card said “Fling a creature.”
