By the 3rd period, there were 50 hits per team. Adding Stamkos and Thachuck would be an amazing addition to our team. Thachuck alone, would make us cup contenders. Would be awesome if we snagged them both. Btw...yeah Florida beaches are nice. But we have some nice beaches...like Wildwood...plus we have something Florida doesn't....amazing boardwalks with amazing pizza and fudge. Hell, that should be motivation for the boys...pig out on pizza and fudge in July...then in August, say "I have 2 motivations to hit the weight room: beating the rags, and burning off the crap I ate last month!"

@@runninwiththedevils hahaha you CANNOT get good Italian food or pizza outside NJ/NY. Hell, same could be said about Chinese or Japanese food. I remember I was in Tampa on business once. Decided to try a hibachi place, and their noodles were literally Publix brand angel hair pasta..and their rice...was Uncle Bens rice....that shit would not fly here...Same thing happened with pizza that trip...asked the hotel clerk for a recommendation...the place they recommended tasted like cardboard with ketchup and Parmesan cheese on it. It was disgusting. Tom Fitzgerald should be trying to sell these players on the food! Santillos, Reservoir Restaurant, Jimmy Buffs, Rutts Hut, Hot Grille, Topps Diner, Ralphs Pizza, and many others are all within 20 minutes of the Prudential center. Want to win them over? Take them to a dinner at Izumi in Wayne, or Ralphs in Nutley. They'll be hooked.

Okay I am JUST about to go to bed so I'm not watching this right now but I have to comment the irony. Steven Stamkos is a carbon copy of my brother (who is also a Devils fan) to a genuinely creepy level. You can barely tell them apart. And if he came to Jersey, I would laugh SO HARD because it would legally require me to get him a Stamkos Devils jersey. It genuinely would not surprise me if my brother got recognized AS him while wearing it. That is all for now, I must sleep! 😅

Please no ! Stamkos’ best years and motivation are long behind . Why not bringing in Ovechkin then ? Do we need other pieces to get Palat going ? How about buying him out ?! We don’t need worn off veterans ! We need a stud defenseman , a power forward and a decent goalie . Priority number one - Brady Tkachuk . He is a type of character that gets other characters going .

I don't think Cooper gets fired for the core aging out (what's left of it, anyway). I'd be open to Stamkos for the top 6 depending on price and term, but it's a two way street in UFA and we still need to get tougher. An aging Stammer doesn't really address that. He's just a better Toffoli replacement imo. Fun discussion points, though. And screw the beaches, come down the shore 😎

Even in this series and especially last game they were a bit unlucky. That second disallowed Tampa goal is a joke. The GMs must do something about goalie interference rule. 10 years ago this is a legit goal in 100 out of 100. But Florida is overall a better team and as I said two months ago I'd like them to win it all this year as they are the closest to what the Devils were in the 90s. Coming back to Stamkos. He is much better leader than Hischier and if hypothetically he comes over he must be the Devils Captain and he should be playing top 6 as a Centre demoting Hischier to the bottom 6. That's not gonna happen with the Devils. I'd try to lure Montour to Newark and a couple of Carolina bottom 6 Ufa players as the minimum of what the Devils need. Instead of Stamkos I'd rather go for Marchessault who would be cheaper and plays wing. Although , Toffoli is even cheaper than Marchs😅

@sst6601 If Fitz gets some of the pieces we need this Summer, I think NJ will be closer to a Cup than Tampa. The goalie interference rule is getting out of control. I do not like it either. The Devils will not strip Nico of the captaincy. Players like Stammer do not need to have a letter on their jersey to be a leader. Think throughout history of all the guys the Devils had that were leaders without having a letter on their jersey. Montour is on my list as well. I am hoping that Stammer really wants to win another Cup, and comes to NJ for $4-$5M

The Devils are sadly built just like the Maple Leafs (a total disaster as youve rightfully said) but WORSE MUCH worse. At least The Leafs have players like Bertuzzi and Domi in the bottom six. Devils need high end skill and sandpaper mixed. I don't think Stamkos is the answer. The devils need a player like Tkachuk or Barkov, Marchand or even Eichel or Evander Kane. A player who can create with energy and physicality, not just finish like Stamkos. They might need even two of these type players, due to how soft the Hughes girls are, as Vegas has in Eichel, Marchessault and Stone. In all fairness these sort of players are almost impossible to source. They need to be drafted and then it is 5 years of development. An aging Stamkos i dont think is the answer, although I do like him. Main problem the Devils have is a cluelessly dumb manager and cheap banksters in charge of the purse strings. Harris and Epstein are too busy with empowering black businesses (virtue signalling), setting up programs for kids with no interest in hockey and donating to local synagogues and zionist causes than to care about the devils. Devils need to trade the Hughes girls as they are soon to take up 20 million of the cap and are useless in crunch time. They make Marner look hard. Great commentary :)

It boggles my mind that a franchise that credited the toughness and determination of Scott Stevens for their cups, and ridiculed the Rangers for bringing in soft players, now backs a team being built around the Hughes girls. I watch them when they dont have the puck and they stand stil, get upset and throw tantrums when they dont have their way. They dont go into the corners and when they do are tossed aside. You can see lazy pampered entitled JH, unlike bratt who bulked up a lot, hasnt yet seen a weight he likes, after 4 yrs in the NHL. They are fine for the power play and perhaps even as secondary specialist players for the regular season, but for the playoffs? Look at what is happening to Marner and co and what the devils looked like against Carolina last year. Fitzgerald is a dope. I like Nico but if this is the toughest player the devils have in the top 6 they are doomed. I would also add that the Hughes girls cant change not only bc the management panders to them (LH was never benched in spite of the horrific turnovers) but because they were raised like prima donnas. Agree on everything. Especially on Bratter. Everyone wants HIM traded if the tougher player comes to the Devils ( Tkachuk for example) but what nobody realises that Brat is ripped. Just look at his shoulders when he gives interviews in a t-shirt. The man is tough. It is just his height that makes him look soft. But he is not. I'd trade J. Hughes for Brady in a heartbeat. And than bring Stamkos to replace Hughes as a Centre if you want Stamkos as this episode suggests. That's how you build a contender. ​@@sst6601 I agree on everything you said. If one replaces Hughes with Brady Tkachuk and then fills in an offensive hole with Stamkos devils are perfectly balanced. Bratt, who is yes ripped and strong as a bull, is perfect for the skilled man, meier, when he is on his game a solid power forward and in-close shooter, Tkachuk as the Marchand the sandpaper leader and mouth of the team, HIschier as the two way forward like Stone and calming influence, Stamkos as a power play specialist, veteran presence and another calming influence. This then would be a real contender. I know this might be unpopular but Losing mcLeod was a monumental loss last year. Besides the goaltending, management not replacing Hamilton when he was out 3/4 the season. the man was just brilliant in the playoffs, top faceman in league and a gem out there. Sad he had to go for something that is 8 yrs in the past and i personally dont buy anyway. Bratt is as you said a physical speciment, a quiet man with broad shoulders and boatloads of skill. To trade him when he is NOT the issue shows fans are clueless. The love for the Hughes girls makes me cringe as they are just dreadful personalities as well. ugh. Another thing we can agree on i thin is fitzgerald is a clown and company man. Devils need a tortorella, not a cooper, as wonderful as he is when the team is balanced right devils though are not balanced right. Torts would bench the hughes girls if they stay and rip their dresses off when they put up a tantrum. It is nice to see a sensible hockey fan on these boards. it is rare :D
