I always liked Onslaught a lot. It seems like a robot that had a lot of potential but just couldn't get it done. A stringer flipper and a reliable srimech would have made it a formidable force, I think.
@crystalheart97 жыл бұрын
Crusher had a pretty decent weapon but the tracks were really weak. Terropin with that little head poking out was so funny

definitely. that was definitely a shame for Crusher...

Yeah when you look at Crusher I think there's a very good reason why you shouldn't have a robot that runs on tracks unless there as tough as Sir Killalot's
@BambiTrout4 жыл бұрын
@@davidfearis7335 The only tracked robot that I can think of that actually worked without the tracks constantly breaking or coming loose was 101, and that's primarily because they a) made them out of a durable material, and b) because they added a protective housing to the sides of them so they were less likely to be damaged or fall off
@legodude4944 жыл бұрын
@@BambiTrout Mortis was a pretty good tracked robot, just a shame they had so many other troubles with it. Mortis could've been a great competitor, but because of their reliability issues and other unfortunate luck, they didn't do too great. Suicidal Tendencies was seeded at some point, I believe, and they had a pretty decent tracked design.

Can I just say I love that the house robots tend to nudge robots who are stuck on the arena in this series, not many roboteers want to win via a robot being "immobilised" whilst still perfectly functional just because part of the design or weaponry got stuck on a wall or on the edge of the pit, it's not really in the spirit of the competition. Plus, perhaps more importantly, the crowd wait for, what, 10-20 minutes before between each fight? They certainly don't want to see 12 seconds of tentative driving followed by one robot hooking itself onto an angle grinder and nothing else happening.

The refbot was definitely a welcome addition. With it helping stuck bots and counting down immobile robots

I have a feeling Terrorpin's shell was designed to counter any getting stuck during the initial rounds of Gauntlet and Trials that existed in the previous few wars - what a shame that they entered the first War without them!
@rowifi4 жыл бұрын
The shell went up and down, but when it hit the floor, the wheels and chassis actually lifted inside. The theory to get zero ground clearance to prevent flipping and also stop it being pushed. That was the theory anyway.

To be fair, I believe Series 3 was initially planned to have the Gauntlet and Trials (even the qualifiers were an exhibition) and it wasn't decided until the robots had already qualified that it'd be all fighting.

invertibrat's core design and novel, yet underpowered flipper that works both ways up was super cool, but that drill was never going to do anything. the point of a drill is to penetrate armour and ravage internals but if you make one short and fat it's only gonna manage surface scratches.

I think Inverterbrat is a really good looking robot, with a very sleek design, though the weapons were a bit lackluster. Terrorpin was actually quite good, even though it doesn't look like it. The armour seemed pretty decent, though once again the weapons were lacking. If only Crusher had better tracks, it might've done better, since it was probably winning on damage certainly against BoB. It's a shame the Roadblock team didn't come back for later series after this, like Behemoth did for every series after series 2 when they first appeared.

Although Invertebrat had limited mobility at the end there, he could still fight. This match should have at least gone to the judges, because the Beast Of Bodmin didn't really do too much. The house robots basically won the match for BoB, especially with Dead Metal coming out of the CPZ. I liked the house robots, but sometimes they influenced who the winner was going to be a little bit too much.

Beast of Bodmin - one of the biggest mistakes in the shows entire run. Replacing a robot so iconic and recognizable as Roadblock with a winky lump of poo was sacrilege. If you could build a whole new robot, then there's no excuse for not using RB's original appearence and just tuning up its insides.
@TheAWShowUK4 ай бұрын
It was crying out to just turn the front panel of roadblock into a massive flipper! Add some more powerful motors and it would have ruled! Probably would have beaten a lot of the favourites. They managed to even make a bad wedge this time, such a shame as Roadblock was amazing for it's time.

Does anyone else feel like the old seasons of battle bots or robot wars or whatever they called it sucked? I mean the robots are cool and all and I’m sure that they took a lot of engineering to create but their weapons were nonexistent essentially, they just did freggin nothing so every battle is just metal things bumping into each other. It’s quite boring to me.

Series 3 was tbh where it began to hit its stride with the classic wars. Series 1 and 2 were establishing the competition, Series 3 gave us the format of the show we know and introduced many early versions of iconic robots (Stinger, Pussycat, Chaos 2, Big Cheese (which I consider the predecessor to Wheely Big Cheese), etc. ), Series 4 began to REALLY set the stage for the spectacles to come and acts as the handover point from early competition big stars to the ones of later series, and Series 5-7 were able to let loose with amazing robots and competitions, helped out by the Extreme series' that happened too.
