She has original work " utopia " the one were she's playing the electronic roland drums was done in on take. The place she plays them looks like the same place her and tamu the drummer from nemaphilia played together. Thanks : D

Enjoyed your reaction and analysis! Can’t get enough Yoyoka. Try her cover of the Stray Cats Rock This Town when she was 8. Maybe not the most technically difficult (other than she’s standing on one foot), but once again shows how she finds the groove of many genres, and if her sheer enthusiasm doesn’t put a big smile on your face, you need to see a psychiatrist. 😁

The way you react and comment is the best of all the Yoyoka reaction videos. The way you stop and cover the drumming mechanics of the juiciest parts is great. I'd watch reactions on all her videos. You deserve more views, good sir.

Now you understand why I preferred this cover than Burn. She definitely put the ROLL in Rock on this one. Those rolls and snare work are top notch. Awesome control and precision. Especially the last phrase. 3 comments though: 1) You paused too early. She did a cheeky thing at the end. 2) You were mostly blocking the snare view. And 3) You probably need a wireless mic. Btw, I thought this will be out on Monday but anyhoo, thank you for the reaction. More please. 👍🥁🤘🏼💥
@vand3rhorst3 жыл бұрын
I absolutely need a wireless mic! I realized most of her vids are right-side oriented so I am switching sides to prevent the blocking of the drums now :D I'm gonna take a far more structured approach to these now. I've learned a few things to really make these **polished** Thank you for helping me to get better :D & I will absolutely let the videos 100% play through from now on. I realized I was missing key parts, just cause the song is over, doesn't mean the video si over! :D

Always great to see you react to, and explain, Yoyoka's playing. Your point about fundamentals is well made: she seems to have put in a lot of work on her core skills so she doesn't have to *think* about what she's doing, she just does it. This one really made me notice that she somehow manages to have complete independence between 2 hands and 2 feet, and yet she's always totally together and in the pocket. It's exhilarating to watch.

Great commentary! You are so generous to continue to elevate our understanding of why Yoyoka is so great! Really enhances the experience for us fans. Great reaction! Like your enthousiasme. Another young Japanese female drummer you might want to check out is Senri Kawaguchi. Despite her young age (now early twenties) she already performed on lots of jazz festivals. Her skills are amazing and I'm sure you will enjoy listening to her (and be impressed). A good one to watch for example is her “Adventure” solo (great video quality too).

Much like Ian Paice, who has always impressed me more so than John Bonham with both his hand and foot speed. He and Terry Bozzio were the only two drummers who ever left me thinking that hey were the highlights of the show, which is pretty impressive considering I saw Ian with Deep Purple, and Terry with Frank Zappa, UK, and Jeff Beck! Yoyoka, of course, adds another drumming sensation that I can't look away from while she's playing. I've always been a guitar guy. This little one has turned my head, along with so many others now in her camp.

Willie Dixon? Surely you've heard of Willie Dixon. Willie Dixon invented the blues. Spoonful, Back Door Man, Smokestack Lightening and TONS of other songs were ALL written by Willie. Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Cream, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, all those guys, and many, many, more straight up stole Willie's music & lyrics. Led Zeppelin had to give him writing credits and a whole bunch of money because songs like Whole Lotta Love were complete rip-offs of Willie's tunes. I hope you've heard of Willie. I met him once down in Hollywood. Big old dude. Drunk as heck. It was at a Koko Taylor show back in "the day." I got his autograph. He's dead now. Good thing I met him before he died & not after. That would have been gross. Thanks for the excellent reaction video and keep up the good work. I'm already a subscriber (as you probably know). Deep Purple ROCKS. Ritchie Blackmore is otherworldly. He makes virtuosos like Satriani look like grade-school amateurs. Peace. Now that Yoyoka calls Cali home maybe we'll be able to see her play live. I sure hope so. She's a once-in-a-generation natural percussive prodigal musician.
