I cannot begin to say how humbling has been to be part of self concept. For me, the work will always be the work... This is to say that NLP is not about fixing people or ourselves, but a technology to help us understand how us as humans structure the world and operate in the day to day... The moment we think we know it all, or know how to fix everything/everybody, that's the end of our growth... To even think we understand everything about humans operate is in it of itself naive... Thank you for keeping us real and grounded🙌💪🏽💜🧠

I love this deeper explanation! There is a lot to be said regarding all the motivational /achievement industry, where getting results seems to have solved all the underlying issues, but it's a cover up! Great video, thanks for making this fundamental concept so well explained!

can you give a clear and concrete type example of the difference between a surface level 'fix' vs going deeper into values etc.

Like I mentioned in the video, playing with the submodalities of a critical voice or playing with the submodalities of food you like to eat but don't want to because it's not healthy. Also, taking traumatic or painful memories and trying to use NLP to get rid of them like they never happened. Another big one is trying to create confidence. You cannot go at self-esteem and confidence directly but that doesn't stop people from trying when they learn NLP. It usually goes bad when they try this.

Damon what do you mean learn NLP through Self concept model? You mean to learn self concept first? Or do you mean if I am someone who does not know nothing about NLP I should go for a complete model like the self concept and then NLP basics will make much more sense?
@DamonCart2 жыл бұрын
You could do either. The point I'm making in this video is that you can learn NLP by trying to put all of what appears to be random parts together (which is typically how practitioner trainings are taught) or you can learn it within the context of a complete and broad model. You can also do this with the Meta Model because it's so complete. It's just not as fun unless you're really into language.

Like baby hackers who only know just enough code... lol. I felt you about this and that's why I am learning as much as I can before I bust out with any strategy. I'm appreciating the information and seeing how various things link together from various disciplines and fuse the congruent elements of my favorite sectors (cognitive psychology, human motivation, NLP, metaphysics, quantum physics, Tao, Zen Buddhism, New Thought writers of the early 1900's and probably some other stuff I can't recall right now). So naturally I really love your channel... It's good information well said and real.

Hey Damon, I recently found your channel and saw your videos on swish pattern, fast phobia process and reimprinting and it seems genuinely great(haven't implemented on myself yet), but my main question is that I am a stutterer so can you guide me how to use these nlp techniques to reduce anxiety and self doubt and how to make peace with it, Thank you for your videos though really helpful.

The Swish Pattern and the Fast Phobia Process would be good techniques to try. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJqXXnuQrch4gMk

Have you created more problems for yourself as a result of using NLP?
@MyNewLifeOnMars3 жыл бұрын
When I first started using these techniques i didn’t have a coach to remind me of what the initial goal I was aiming for was. I would have huge anxiety and unworthiness as I approached what I wanted and would use the techniques I knew to remove the anxiety. It would go away but I did it (in retrospect) by diminishing my intent to achieve my goal. I still wanted what I wanted but it couldn’t attract me to it. I used to blame the techniques as faulty but if I had a coach they would have easily spotted what I did.

Hey man as much as I love your content brother. I think this one is based more very much on personal belief and subjective experience than actual factual data let's be clear the whole self- concept is a model therefore it's just away of looking at something not hard in stone truth I don't think it's good idea to presuppose to newbies out there they will fall into a "so called" trap and cause we all know couple NLP masters who don't necessarily agree with the model but still successful in whatever they do. All in all I think it's great model and everyone should take a look at it but like nlp skills I think it's paramount that we look them as just another way of looking at things not hardcore truth.
@DamonCart3 жыл бұрын
You make a valid point. Any time you warn someone of something you're introducing an idea to them that they may have otherwise not ever fallen into but because you brought it up they become more susceptible to it. It's a risk. NLP is less about a way of looking at things and more a way of tracking the patterns of how we create our subjective experience of reality. Your self-concept is the biggest generalization you make. All of your other generalizations regardless if they are about you or the world around you are connected to your self-concept. The Self-Concept Model, better than any model I've ever come across, reveals the structure of how you create your sense of self and how you're creating the reality around you. If you learn NLP techniques without learning them in the context of a solid model, you do run the risk of NLPing yourself into a corner. I've done it and I've coached people who have done it. The Self-Concept Model is the most complete model in my opinion so if you're going to learn NLP techniques, I recommend learning it within the context of the most complete model available to us.
