Base structure of NME’s first round was a six bar phrase of 5/4 with a hemiola over the last two bars obscuring the timing to make it seem base four. The first four bars worked on a 3 - 2 subdivision of the beats, and with all the movement it smoothed out the weirdness of the odd time signature. Music Theory nerd here, trust me. Go back and count it.

When you said you like inkie's inventiveness but you wouldn't want to listen to it again, I felt that. Many beatboxers complain when he loses, but imo it makes sense that he still does lose despite his great level at looping, because it's not just about being creative. I like your videos because lots of beatboxers rarely consider what nonbeatboxers would say about their material and routines

I've been saying this for years. Inkie's ability to be creative with a loopstation is ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSIVE. But Creativity doesn't matter if it doesn't sound good. And this is a battle, sounding good is about important as you can get. The biggest example of this is his battle versus Saro. YES, he was absolutely "more creative" and I don't know if that's debatable, but Saro's tracks sounded far and away superior and made me bob my head. I can show any random person on the street Saro's rounds and they'd instantly be capable of vibing with it. There's absolutely stuff to appreciate about Inkie, but it takes time to digest and that's not necessarily a good thing.

Maybe its his style, listening to inkie the first time here was awesome. He has a great sound, advanced loops and its a genre i already like. It feels like he ranges from deadmau5 to drum and bass and i loved it. I have actually listened to the first song multiple times because i liked it so much. What you are saying i have with so-so. I don't enjoy crazy high pitched stuff with a lack of bass so when so-so goes crazy it doesn't do anything for me and i can only enjoy it for the skill. So knowing the crowd loves so-so inkie may just have a tough audience for him.

I would love to hear from you what do you think about how he transitions into other beats and your commentary on the structure of it, He is using alot more than just rc 505...
