The Northstar only goes into downtown Minneapolis, and terminates at Target Field. From there you will be able to catch the Light Rail, "Green Line" into downtown St. Paul, which will terminate at the newly restored/rebuilt historic Union Depot. Amtrak will also terminate at St. Paul's Union Depot, so you will be able to ride all the way from Big Lake to the rest of the country on the rails if you wish starting in mid-2014!

Thanks for watching! The club has open houses twice a year when we have our bi-annual flea markets. Other wise anyone is always free to come on down if you notify us.

Excellent layout! Keep up the great work. I'd like to see more about the electronics, the JMRI setup and the servos. What made the club choose them instead of tortoise switch machines?
@bnsfrailnut10 жыл бұрын
I will try to get a video of the servos up soon. Plus more in depth look at electronics. We chose the servos because they are MUCH cheaper than tortoises. The servos are typically around $2 when all said and done vs $17 to $20 on the tortoises.

Do not like the take cars off layout for staging. More you touch and handle cars more damage. Will be one hell of a layout, will put it on bucket list to come visit. Looks like 2015.

You need radios to run it? That is very impressive.

For something that is going to be ripped out, somebody really did spend a lot of time on that switch-back w/ the fascia and all.
@bnsfrailnut10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the one guy that made the switch back new it was gonna leave but hes retired and the layout is his second home! LOL

How many people will operate this railroad ? it is huge, any idea of the cost involved so far ?
@bnsfrailnut10 жыл бұрын
The club has around 40 members. We haven't had a chance to see how many operators we'll need but its gonna range anywhere from being able to run it by yourself to a full blown op session which I can think of at least 30 people can find work!
@bnsfrailnut10 жыл бұрын
The cost is over $15,000 at this stage. Which is better than I thought it would be. The scary price tag will come once we begin Northtown Yard. Its gonna be roughly 75' long and have 15 to 20 tracks in the yard.
