+mjarail Yeah it was a great layout. Unfortunately it was dismantled when the club had to move to a new building next door.

There is no need to beat a dead horse re videography. Life is one great big learning curve, there is no shame in not being perfect, there is only shame in not trying to do better next time. The layout looks AWESOME, I bet you had tons of fun running on it. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Looks like a great layout, and it's in my state too. Unfortunately, it seems all the good Michigan layouts are in the south, a full day's drive away. Does anyone know of any good layouts in northern MI (preferably within an hour or so of Marquette). I know of only two that are worth seeing, and they are both small home layouts where an entire operating session consists of moving about a dozen cars.
@CPWindsorsub11 жыл бұрын
I wish I could help you out there but I don't know of any layouts up there. It must be freezing cold in Marquette right now.
@mpeterll11 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, freezing it is. -11F on new-years-eve. We get all 4 seasons here: Winter, Deep winter, Late winter, and Road construction.
@CPWindsorsub11 жыл бұрын
Wow I couldn't stand that weather.
@MrMitch565610 жыл бұрын
mpeterll Ha! Road construction lol! Thats funny. Yeah -11 isn't that bad. It's been around that here in Windsor too.
@mpeterll10 жыл бұрын
***** -11 would seem warm now. Since then, we've had daily highs lower than that, and lows in well into the -30's. To top it all off, I let the sparks out of my pellet stove circuit board a few weeks ago, and was without heat in my basement until a couple of days ago (finally got the replacement on Friday).

I have some of my grandpa's old steam engines but nothing new. I mainly model modern stuff. Yeah it would be cool to see a steam engine every once in a while.

One of the most gorgeous MRRs I've ever seen. Nice scale speeds, too. Wow what a blow that must have been finding having to move out after all the arduous work you've obviously performed...I'm sure with the talent you have in this club you'll eventually produce the very same quality on the new one.. One teensy tiny critique: A little more gray and brown rock work. I know that the region you represent is lush in green foliage. Just a little less in a few areas'd nice.. But that's all....A1 jobbers you all are ..... Time for beans....> ...... Mark -
@CPWindsorsub10 жыл бұрын
Thank-you! Yeah I'm not sure what has been salvaged off of this layout though. I know this has been taken down though since I visited the club with the train club I'm apart of.
@mikesmart357710 жыл бұрын
Good video but very shaky. I agree with others pan slower and use a mono-pod to stabilize the shaking. Mono-pod is slimmer than using a regular tripod especially in a tight area.

@deb5449910 жыл бұрын
One complaint.... I know there is a lot to see but from what I have seen there is more time spent watching scenery than watching train operations.....why would you want to watch a bridge, or road crossing when trains are operating at other spots on the layout ?
@CPWindsorsub10 жыл бұрын
One of the reasons why was because we were doing an actual operating session and I was paired up with a member with the Blissfield club and I was following our train so while were stopped at stations or in sidings I got shots of the scenery that was around us since I couldn't leave my train. I understand where you're coming from though.

+David Curtis Kind of hard to redo it when the layout doesn't exist anymore and it was only shown to us through a club visit.
@TheGryxter9 жыл бұрын
Seems like a beautiful layout. I had to stop watching since the camera was so jittery I could not take it any longer. The camera barely has time to focus before it moves again. Too much jumping around. Sorry but I would rather you just follow the layout from start to finish. Not showing this side that side, scene to moving train etc.
@CPWindsorsub9 жыл бұрын
+TheGryxter Yeah I filmed this back before I knew how to take good videos of layouts. We all have to learn sometime lol.

Layout great but camera work real bad. If you are filming this to show a friend don't show it on youtube or at least cet some instruction on how to run a camera. I've shot better video on a cell phone.
@NgaiOlaudah9 жыл бұрын
This is terrible and even stupid cinematography as I could not enjoy watching & seeing the wonder of this club... do it again and remember steady camera... no swooping and take your time and set up each shot, IN OTHER WORDS KNOW WHERE U'RE GOING BEFOREHAND!
