Driven that road a million times. Had a drunk from Colorado pass me going head-on into traffic. Called and followed him into Cuba as he parked at the McDonald's. State police pulled up, and I pointed him out. Drunk as a skunk scared the living crap watching him drive like that all the way to town. That road is a dangerous journey much worse back in the two lane days. Good job officers getting him shut down. Stupid NM is always holding police back from kicking butt and taking names.

I worked in the Indian Law Clinic at CU for a while and this is very sad. I would say 3/4 of our cases were for drunk drivers in the 4 corners area. Alcohol abuse on the reservations is an epidemic and unfortunately there is no easy answer.

Why does NM have such a poor pursuit policy? They allow dangerous drivers to just keep driving for miles & miles just like California.... get in & PIT & stop it ... Charge the criminal with the expenses to repair/replace the damaged cruiser. Officers are trying... but so many videos they show lack of PIT skills. Can't blame officers for poor upper management.

i hope the cop setting up stop sticks has the sense to not do so while driving a patrol car. id keep him looking in his rearview, so he doesnt have all his attention on the stop sticks. if they had a sedan, with a deployable stop stick from the rear end, they could use it to get ahead of pursuit suspects, drop them fast, puncture, and pull off.

I love watching chases in NM because the landscape is so much more beautiful than FL and AK LOL. NM is close to Mexico. The natives in Mexico had alcohol historically and developed the ability to process it in their bodies. Natives north of Mexico historically never had alcholol so never developed the bodily adaptations to handle liquor It leads to so many sad situations.

The pickup was in 4WD making it harder to pit. The front tires are able to keep traction not allowing it to break traction and start spinning out. Majority of the time it takes a good amount of more effort in pitting a truck.
