It was her first marathon and she is already one of the fastest in history. I have no doubt that she’ll break the world record one day. She’s only 24-25, she still has a decade or so to go in her career. Can’t wait to continue this journey with her and excited to see her at the world cross country next month.

I do believe 2nd place is what's best for Letesenbet in her marathon career, because now is a matter of chasing her first official marathon title first, then gain enough experience to master the race so then an attempt to set a WR can happen naturally, as her progression gets better & better after each race. Letesenbet will be the female marathon WR holder in time. Cheers

2:16:50 is a perfect time for this women in her first marathon but you can not jump and say I am gonna break the record. Marathon is cleary diffirent from the other events first of all we have to understand this. If you want to a real marathoner you have to run at least 4 or 5 marathon in you carrier. We should consider the reality of the athletics.

At that time, she brokein Valencia the record of female fastest debut marathon. Her record was broken by forty seconds earlier that year by Tigist Ketema in Dubai
