I have a 2002 Chevrolet S10 4x4 pickup, and a reputable transmission guy did a complete rebuild less than 3000 mile ago. It now will not shift to 3rd and 4th, It just revs up. I don't understand how it failed so quickly after the rebuild. The truck is rarely driven and never abused.

I went through 2 used and one rebuilt transmission in a month. All did the same. 3rd and 4th gears stopped working. Unless I floor it and it will switch over to 3rd. One worked fine for a day. One didn't make it up the street and the last worked about a week.

A GM 4L60E transmission one of the easiest transmissions in the world to build if it's built correctly it's a great transmission if not it's junk

My sons 97x has this tranny, he had a hose burst and it drained almost ALL the fluid, only drove it a mile with low fluid, refilled completely, 8 qts, fluid level is perfect atm, test drove and now doesn’t engage 3 & 4th,….think I lost a shift solenoid or gears fried? It has 3rd if I shift manually, just not when in drive. Suggestions? Nice video btw, very thorough.

What does it mean when your 4L60E won't shift from 2nd to 3rd but only sometimes? Never slips and no codes.

Precision Transmission out of Texas has a sh@t load on the 4L60E.

thats crazy, how do you have rev and 1st but no 3rd?? or 4th(od)?? 3rd is usually direct 1:1 drive... rev requires way more pressure than all the gears, and 1st gets the most wear..being such a low ratio...

U can have R without 3rd. R is on a different drum.

Eeeyup,⚠️ 1st & reverse are the same ratio. In "limp mode" 🤭this trans starts in 2nd ratio.😁

I had my 1995 chevy blazer 4l60e rebuilt and in a couple months the third gear burnt out its ridiculous

@@Leekautorepair everything was replaced even had the valve body reamed and plugged/ several failsafe prodecures to keep 3/4 gears clutch pact from failing since it's a known failure point

I have a 2006 Tahoe the transmission in it 4l60e is junk I put a 700r4 in mine with a good converter haven't had a problem in 5 years
