its always the slaughterspine, no other machine gets stuck like this for me. Ive gotten the reverse situation as well, game locking into spawning only apex slaughterspines in daytime, which is a more welcomed bug, even found a way to replicate the latter bug

Yeah Slaughterspine’s are notorious for always spawning as regular variants when you die to an Apex. You pretty much always have to fast travel away and come back to get an Apex to spawn like I was describing in the video. It’s unlikely your RNG is actually stuck.

@@ArktixOfficial No the game was 100% auto stuck - I tried every trick on the internet to to get the damn apex version to spawn. The only thing I didnt know about was the auto stuck thing and after a single atempt it spawned me an Apex version and now I no longer see this issue as much. And when I do, I just rinse and repeat and it works almost every time. I just manually save the game at hideout far away, close game and verify files and that works almost every time *Edit* If i dont verify files it doesnt work though oddly enough Also Id like to add I rarely die to anything in this game so getting killed by an Apex version of a slaughterspine just doesnt happen

Your videos have really helped me out with this game so much. I’ve played through these games a few times and for some reason the combat just never clicked. I’d put the game on easy and trudge through it but never really enjoy it that much. I decided was gonna give it another try this time without lowering the difficulty and after watching your videos and making the adjustments I finally get it. An alternative to fast travel to respawn a apex, if you have the lategame mount, is just to to fly approx 150 metres away from the site and back, as that is enough distance to despawn them and usually brings back a apex. On PS4 with higher loading times, i often find that smoother than fast-travelling, especilly if its in a site you prefer more than others and dont want to fast-travel twice.

One more thing. For the tremortusk site you like (on the lake), If you start running while the screen is black towards the site while the screen is black you are more likely to spawn a regular variant. Waiting a second or 2 always guaranteed the Apex variant. I remember sometimes seeing the regular variant in the distance for a second before it gets swapped with an apex variant. This was at night on ultra hard after killing enough to max the spawn chance. And half a year ago.

This exact thing happened to me today - it was a Thunderjaw bc I hadn't done the Broken Sky questline yet, but I watched a regular TJ vanish, and then as I came down the hill from the shelter there was an apex waiting for me in the distance

When the game gives you a normal one instead of an apex after dying, you don't even need to travel, just reloading the save you died on works just as well in my experience.

When you are dead, a new quick save is created to prevent Apex from respawning. Loading a save before fighting Apex makes Apex spawn faster on the same area

I would love to see a video kind of like "differens between zero dawn and forbidden west" As a forbidden west player I just picked up Zero dawn, and realized that there were alot of differences which really threw me off. For example Im still not sure if you can upgrade weapons in zero dawn like you can in HFW. A video like that would be so useful for players going from HFW to HZD and vise versa. It doesnt have to be a comparison video or anything, but just preparing you for the other game. Aprreciate it🙂

Good question. Unfortunately, the merchants never restock. They have infinite supply of some basic items, like fast travel packs, but the more valuable items have limited stock. The only way to get them to restock is to start a new game+ playthrough.

I found this with bileguts and had to kill at least 8 before apex ones started spawning. They also started spawning after I did the cauldron so this may have had an effect on their spawn rate as there's an apex bilegut at the end of it.

Being on Custom difficulty can cause issues. I'll change to Very Hard, save, close game, restart game, go back to site (usually Slaughterspine), make sure its now Apex, and then change difficulty back to custom

The thing about the Apex Machine not appearing when respawning has to do with certain Machines. It mainly affects Heavyweight Machines like the Bilegut, Tremortusk, Slaughterspine, Dreadwing, Thunderjaw and Slitherfang.

Tideripper and stormbird too. dont know if its intentional? i also notice that these apex spawns are completely binary between day and night. They never spawn daytime apexes like many other machines do, even though the official guide states that machines, once youve reached the highest apex spawnrate tier from kills, they should have like a 60% chance to spawn apex during the day, which you see for all the small and medium machines. But for these machines this doesnt happen, with a couple of individual exceptions, like the slaughterspine sometimes getting locked into spawning only apex at day in a session, or the salt-bite thunderjaw being the only of its kind that seems to follow normal apex spawnrate rules of smaller machines. And then there are some heavyweights that follow the stated rules just fine with plenty of daytime spawns: Shellsnappers, Rockbreakers Behemoths and Fireclaws. Someone else noted that the binary heavyweights seem to have one thing in common: They have stand-in models when viewed from far away in the landscape beyond spawning range. It may also be a clue to why the unmarked salt-bite TJ is exempt: Doesnt have a faraway stand-in model since it comes down from the forested hill each time you approach close enough to spawn it (first time being an ambush where it auto-detects you, but after that it will just come down from the hill and patrol the site around the watchers).

Heh. I actually have the opposite problem. I'm trying to get my machine catalog full, and the only one I'm missing from those I might have encountered as yet (there are five empty spaces, I suppose that's for the endgame and Burning shores) is a non-apex Purgewater Canister Burrower. There are three sites that could spawn them, but day or night, most of the time only apex variants spawn, and if not, only one is a non-apex. Also I've got tons of Plasma, Fire and Acid spawns, but Purgewater appears to be rare.

The answer to the Non Apex Purgewater Canister Burrower is the Arena. Otherwise they are very very elusive. Most fun i heared someone missed as last? Tallneck! Burning Shores should have 4.

You need to do the Cauldron first before it can spawn.

I did loads and didn't see one until the cauldron was done where there is an apex bilegut at the end. After that I had them spawn on a regular basis.

I feel like, for some machines, you do need to progress something to get apex to show up. I'm not sure if it''s true, but I couldn't get Apex Slaughterspines at all until I did the cauldron on the Burning Shores. ( that has a slaughterspine as a boss )
