Damn dude, I learned how to use a baitcaster about 5 years ago just by watching your videos. Turns out your 10 year old son caught on way quicker than I did lol. On a side note, I think it's a great thing that your kids are into fishing and you take your time with them and teach them how to do different things and fish different ways. Love the vids bro, you're a great KZbinr and a great dad. 👍

Awesome, AWESOME VIDEO!!! Nothing better than teaching “the future Pro’s of fishing” and giving them guidance on perfecting their skills. Good on ya, Brother!!! 😎👍 (edit) Casting into the wind with a baitcaster or not checking your surroundings before casting and clip a tree limb during the forward motion of the cast can also cause a backlash. I’m a member of that club. 😁

My dad's been a spinning rod guy since day 1 so I remember teaching myself back in the early 90's to throw a baitcaster with a old Abu Garcia and it was a freaking struggle trying to learn it on my own at such a young age but I got it and finally converted my dad to own 2 baitcaster setups last year. He still throws his spinning the most but he uses the baitcaster for heavy t rigs and heavy topwater.

Does it normally juggle/shake to allow for play when casting or what. I just want to make sure my reel is not malfunctioning or anything like that. Thanks hope to hear back from yea.

Just a thought. The reel for a beginner by himself with no dad or experienced help can be a big hindrance. Cheap, ill maintained, or used reels can easily deter someone trying to learn. The kid having a dad with excellent quality gear and experience removes that from his potentially hating a baitcaster. Other than that yeah the reel as you say is a non factor when setup tight. Great video for a beginner though. 👍👍👍

I taught my now 12 yr old son how to use a baitcaster at 9. I was on the phone from work, I gave him the rod (top water frog) I set it up for him and I told him to cast. He said he watched me plenty of times making casts. He nailed it on his first cast, and I've got it on video too! As for line conditioner, you strictly use it on mono and fluro, correct? What about braid? I never backlash, but curious about line conditioner. Thank You
@TackleJunky81

@TackleJunky81
@TackleJunky81 4 жыл бұрын
I'm a big fan of the Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier or if you shop around you can probably get the Tatula CT for around 100, but it's a tad bigger in size compared to other reels, so it might be to big for your son. Another great reel is the Shimano SLX which retails for 100, but you can use my code TJ81 over at Tackle Freaks to save 10% so you could get the SLX for 90.
