Yes, I did enjoy watching. I always like seeing the basics demonstrated. As a DIYer who doesn't work in a lot of cars, videos like this serve as a very helpful reminder to check the basics. Thanks!

If it doesn't start it's either the battery, starter, or the ignition switch. That's what you read on the Internet. I'm surprised it didn't have a new ignition switch in it too! Pretty nice find...makes for a great video example of voltage drop!

This jogged my memory from when I used to work on cars. I remember the insurance company brought in a newly painted car and they were tripping out why it wouldn't start. I had it easy since I found a ground that was painted over. What I want to know is what did the customer have fixed or serviced before it started having the problem. This could be the fault of the dealership mechanic that worked on it last. Just saying since I've had to fix other people's stuff before.

Some folks will argue to the death that the grounds wouldn't cause that! My friends jeep was causing troubles!! He drove it a lot, and could feel it, but I really couldn't! But it only took my 5 mins to find the ground to the body broken and intermittently breaking loose! I put a new end on it, and it took him three days to admit that I had fixed his issue!

Last but not list. The gear lever is not shifting either from parking. Until you switch off the ignition is when then it can move freely. If u turn it in while it is in "D" or "R" and you try to shift the gears, it still stuck until you turn the key off. It is really hurting.

The parts changer made 3 or 4 hrs for changing starter and battery that didnt fixed it while Tommy get and hr ifff for fixing the real issue that took him 15 min.....if the starter was misdiagnose/replaced inhouse,cause they cant charge customer more money for a sold job.. Or if the car came from somewhere else they can bs the customer and charge/say what they want or plain simple just be honest,which i find many shops hard to do..

throttle bottle they are installed dry at the factory.. except for Coil boots.. but it would be a nice gesture though
@throttlebottle59066 жыл бұрын
correct, but chances are it's rusted/corroded and has been arcing since it was a no start, I always remove, clean and grease the grounds when any vehicle is having untraceable issues. and make sure engine to body grounds aren't missing completely, which also makes me wonder on that VW, certainly there was supposed to be other ground straps?

Just wondering if I can't get some more guidance here. 2006 jetta tdi brm manual transmission. No crank and no start, also no CEL and no glow plug light (no communication to the ECU). Starter tests good, battery tests good, new ignition switch, all grounds have continuity, all fuses test good with a test light and multimeter, all relays test good with a multimeter as well. I replaced the main power supply relay that's in the fuses box under the hood just in case and still nothing. Ecu tested good by rocketchip performance tuning. He even deleted the immobiliser and still nothing. Swapped the 2 relays that are the same that are under the dash and still nothing (wipers worked with both relays). Those relays under the dash all click like they should when I turn on the ignition. The relay under the dash however does not click. If I jump that relay the fans will kick on. I haven't attempted to hook up an obd2 or vagcom cable while jumping that relay, but with just the relay in I can't even get my obd2 tester to turn on when I plug it in and the vagcom cable isn't connecting. This all started about 3 days after I put in a smf kit. All seemed well until 2 days after I replaced it all and I got a real slow crank but it started... Then the next day I had this issue. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone in Ohio who would be willing to come take a look? Thanks in advance

Both Starter solenoid and Starter motor use the same ground?..so it was high resistance on the ground for the motor only, because it needs more current..but still it was good enough connection for the solenoid to be energized and do its job?
