This is a live (non-emulated) speedrun of Ghosts N Goblins for NES. I go through both rounds of 6 levels each without any deaths in 22 minutes 56 seconds. This video is of the old world record time. The faster speedrun is linked at the start of this video.
Also check out my no-death Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts!

This game was always in the back of my mind about me remembering it for some reason, and the only two things that stuck with me were that stupid graveyard, and that the guy wore boxers after taking a hit

I've played this on and off since my childhood, never making it past stage 2. Starting yesterday I decided to try to beat this game. I believe I've made good progress, so far I can make it the end of stage 6 with the two devils, once I beat loop1, loop2 shouldn't be a big deal. my biggest problem was the red arremers, now i can consistently defeat them. update: Just completed both loops for the good ending, spent half the day competing it. spent over half that time just on loop2 end of stage 6. Not sure why cause on loop1 I didn't has much trouble. maybe just luck the first time.

Are you f'in kidding me?!! I played this game so many times and was just happy when I got to the 3rd level. If I ever got to the end to only be started over I would have went insane!!! They didnt even think about checking if they were grammatically correct because they probably thought no one would get there.

This is a perfect example of memorization, timing and not hesitating. I tryed playing this as a kid i could'nt get passed the second level, so hard because back then in the 80's and early to mid 90's there was no internet for 95% of the people you had to figure out this shit on you're own i wouldnt be surprised if this person played 1000's of hours on this game.

But this the Nes version which was scaled down. The Arcade version was the famous teeth shattering difficult almost impossible version. I know because not only has it been officially announced many times before back in the day but also I have a old school cabinet from chigago gaming where i can play all the orignal arcade versions of these classic games and i play this one everyday to kill some time before bed and there is alot of shit missing in the nes version

The Red Devil at 5:56 was killed and his death animation (the little red explosion) was actually further left of where he was when I hit him for the 4th time, but since he was in mid-swoop, the animation took place in the next location that his sprite was going to be had he survived.

No Joke. When I was a kid I couldn't get past the first level. Then I got it back out again when I was in high school and that blue cave level was as far as I could get. As if it isn't hard enough, they tell you to go through the whole game again in order to truly beat it. Also, when I was a kid I thought it was pretty hilarious that the guy was running around in his underpants being chased by ghosts.

You, my friend, deserve the worship of all gamers. *bows before your awesomeness* Sometimes, I look at this game and can imagine the conversation the creators had upon finishing the game. 1: So... We've officially created the hardest game of all time! 2: Nah, still not hard enough. 1: So what should we do? 2: Ooh, I know! Let's make it so you have to beat it a SECOND time to win! 1: Great idea!

Christ almighty, I'm glad I never played battletoads or any of those other impossibly hard games) so I've never played a game as hard as this, the difficulty literally a nightmare! You are correct. Playing this game for a third round is more difficult than the second round. In fact, it will continuously get more difficult the more you beat it. All the enemies get faster each round, and there are more enemies overall, especially ones that appear on-screen (as opposed to ones that enter from the side of the screen)

I've got memories of hours upon hours of playing, failing, resetting, getting close to the end and dying, resetting, and the unimaginable frustration that goes with all that. Now I'm doing it all again with Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts. Are you going to disbelieve that too? I've never made a tool-assisted speedrun, and I don't even know how to. Keep arguing if you want but this is my speedrun, I made it, it's verified by multiple sources as genuine, and I know it is because I made it.

The bosses in my second round also move faster. They increase in speed each round, and will be faster still if you try to play a 3rd round. One way to spot a second round is the behavior of the red devils - they shoot two fireballs in a row instead of one like the first round.
