Back in the 80's ska/rock/pop mixes had a following and were mainstream, in the early 90's grunge took over the alternative rock scene and straight pop took over the pop scene. In the mid 90's indie rock took over which allowed bands like no doubt or those with a slightly different edge to flourish.
@RAnn-oy6ub8 жыл бұрын
AW Return to Saturn wasnt a big album for ND. It was their little album in between the two bigger/popular albums. This was the year when Britney , Christina, Sisqo, Bkst Boys, Nsync & Destinys Child, Korn , Limp Biskit took over the radio. so when a song like this one or Simple Kind of Life came on, it was sweet. The other artists who came out in the late 90s during the whole indie/Lilith fair era did not survive 2000 radio & manifest the way that No Doubt did.

Funny story: when i was little i grew up seeing Gwen's Marilyn Monrone-ish look everywhere and i had a vague idea who Marilyn was, but i was too young to grasp the concept that she was back in the 50s, so, seeing Gwen all the time on TV and not knowing who she is, in my mind i thought she is Marilyn Monroe, I've always associated her image with Marilyn, and when I grew up and could finally understand who Marilyn is and saw her photos, it felt as if Gwen was the original look and Monroe was a cosplay, sort of like those guys who impersonate Elvis and then people see them everywhere so much that then when they see the real Elvis it doesn't look like they imagined Elvis to be😅
