It’s because artists were really artists. Nothing less than pure artistic integrity and creativity were tolerated and there was an incredible amount of true talent and artistry. You had one group that was better than the next, each pushing societal limits and breaking barriers their own special way. Now you have a bunch of lame gen z sheeple “posing” as artists and doing whatever is popular, following what their masters Tik Tok and instagram tell them to do. No more boldness or rawness so the excitement is gone. It’s only going to get worse once we have AI “artists”... don’t even want to think about that.

You know you could still be friends with your ex right? Not everyone is emotionally immature to hang around their exes in a civil manner. Not everyone had horrible relationships that made them hate their exes.
@crazyhai81552 ай бұрын
@Risingofthephoenix. This song is not actually about Tony. It's about another ex, in another band. But regardless, Gwen DID struggle with this song. Even now, she says she can't bear to hear it, as it's still too distressing to think about the emotions she was going through (during that break-up). So she was very strong, to record this song and make the video. And it's the same for the songs that actually WERE about Tony. She says she really DID struggle. Sure, you can be friends with an ex. But that usually only happens (peacefully), when emotions and distress have been resolved and moved on from. But when Tony dumped Gwen, it nearly emotionally destroyed her (by her own account). It took her years to come to terms with. She'd made her whole life and identity about him. And in 'Don't Speak', they'd only just split up. That caused such turbulence, the band had nearly broken up the previous day (before the video shoot). There was also tension between other band members and Gwen (contributing to the band nearly breaking up), because other band members were jealous of the attention the media gave Gwen. Yet they did a video depicting all that, i.e. the break-up between Tony and Gwen; how other band members isolated her, out of jealousy - so she couldn't rely on them for emotional support, either, etc. And they did it, whilst it was all something very current that was happening. So absolutely it was full of turmoil, to sing and film 'Don't Speak' - and a similar turmoil, for her to perform other songs about break-ups. Creativity is often fuelled by intense distress, and absolutely she felt that distress whilst performing these songs. It must have been very difficult, to see Tony and perform with him, so regularly.

The talent is beyond outerspace here!Someone posted that you can’t just listen to one song... and thats what happened to me. Not particularly do I gravitate towards the talents if female front women, but EGAD!!! That voice! The quirkiness! 👊

Wrong. "Everything In Time" was their last good album. Full of B-Sides and Rarities but a cohesive album at the same level than their pre Rock Steady albums. "Push and Shove" would have been at the same level if it weren't so overproduced. Has hidden gems tho like P&S, Undercover, Looking Hot (short version) and Undone.

I can't believe I forgot about this song! I don't think I had heard it since it was fresh during my college days. This was originally supposed to be a ballad, but making this more of an uptempo number was the right call.

Is this a punk band that makes pop or the other way around? Because this is what pop music should sound like. Gwen's vocals seriously complement the song too.
@Nowhatsgoingon112227 ай бұрын
Their sound most likely to be SKA punk, indie alternative This is way far from pop music
@anall3l37 ай бұрын
It's pop punk because punk rock is NOT listenable. This has punk freneticism and rhythm but with a harmonic variety.

Sadly this song came to fruition 15 years after its release. Gwen's greatest desire in life has always been to be a wife, mother, and to grow old with the supposed love of her life. Too bad Mr. Gavin Rossdale never grew up. Either way, she'll find someone who truly appreciates her for who she is: a decent, genuine, and wonderful human being. Keep smiling and singing, Gwen...you make the world a better place!

+SQP85 Nah, I just have the power of observation; basic critical thinking skills which are encouraged in a free thinking society. Sorry my opinion moved your brooding slumber to comment about such a trivial matter. When cloaked in darkness it's best to keep your steel handy and your instincts sharp. Those Death Lord Draugrs are a bitch.
