ska and punk ran in Gwen's vein... after that they changed a lot and no doubt became an unrecognizable... good times with no doubt in the 90s, who played alongside sublime etc at same stage. She still a legend for generations.
@moodyinformed5 ай бұрын
True, but on the positive/realist side of things - nobody is the same person they were at 18-21 when they reach 30s, 40s, 50s, etc. I think it's totally natural that this happens for tons of bands and artists as they grow (beyond label interventions and just had decision making/money-hungriness) sometimes I don't care for the newer stuff but I respect the growth journey and know that those classic albums are still there forever to go back and enjoy ya know?
@endlessnameless64943 ай бұрын
@@moodyinformed She chilled out with age, which was smart. How seriously would you take a 35-45 year old Gwen talking about the "skins" she hangs out with? She had this phase, her rock star phase and then her pop star era. She deserves it: she was a legit "cool" local hipster back in the day. More than you can say about most pop stars. Only other one I can think of is Madonna (who was somewhat deep in the NYC punk scene in the 70s). She's cool, let her be her.

There next album was a little more 80s post punk influenced with a lot of studio experimentation but there music was always a blend. The following album was heavily Dance Hall influenced I think unrecognizable is a bit of a stretch. The influence is always there.

They all made lots of money. They are all excellent musicians and made magic together, but Gwen’s charisma and lyrics are what sold it. Otherwise we wouldn’t know No Doubt, and they’d be just another great jam band. Gwen didn’t sell out for money. She wanted to be a mother and try other things. She can control her schedule for her kids now. Very few bands last with the original members. It’s a hard gig with competing egos, creative differences, and personal obstacles. Even the Beatles only lasted 10 years. It doesn’t make them or their music any less iconic. Just appreciate the magic that was made.

I LOVE listening to No Doubt. They are a fun band with a great variety of musical arrangements and combinations of styles from album to album. No Doubt is a jump jazz, skank dance, classic vaudville, and popping music band from song to song. They change styles depending on the song. Gwen Stefani looks a bit like Charlize Therone in this video. Looking foward to the new album.

Strong in her own way NOT a woman just trying to be a man 2.0 it's just swapping genders like rey, captain Marvel, Wanda, she hulk, that new Marvel series about a native American woman, etc who represent ALL millenial and gen z women...
