I have been using my utility trailer to dump garbage as a weekend gig and was trying to find the best way to do this exact thing! I had to turn down jobs because of the dump time and regular work hours. Thanks for the vid! This will be much easier and cheaper than buying another couple trailers

Pretty cool...I unloaded 2400 lbs off my utility trailer this past weekend by hand and noticed I have a reciever hitch on the rear of my trailer and thinking about installing a winch there to make things easier next time
@sololawnprofessional4 ай бұрын
Definitely a receiver mounted to the rear of the trailer, that'll make the set up so much easier to put together and you don't have to have the winch out in the weather all the times.

This is great. Giving me a lot of ideas of how I could do this on my 6x10 trailer. I don’t really want to get a dump trailer. Utility trailers are more versatile for me since they’re easier to load with lower deck. Very interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing your set up

Thanks for your comment The only downside to a utility trailer is the weight capacity is much lower than a dump trailer in a similar size.

What a Great job! I could only imagine what you could Rig up if you actually put some Money in to this unit! I am thinking like metal sides for trailer and metal push blade! This is the same concept as the garbage trailers i have seen only they use a hydraulic piston behind the blade to push the stuff out!

Awesome video… you just answered my question I’ve been asking myself all year on how am I gonna unload everything from my utility

This setup works great. I've had it for 4 years now. The most important thing when putting this setup together is a rear roller. I had the roller mount bend to the point where I couldn't use it twice before I put together the one I have now it works but it's not great.

I’m putting a 12000 lb winch on a 16 ft and plan on hauling tree branches and logs. Think this setup would work? Or should I just spend more and get a dump trailer? I have a 99 f150 5.4L 4x4 I’ll be using to haul.
@sololawnprofessionalАй бұрын
@PowerThroughMusic The setup just to make your life easier. If you don't plan on buying a dump trailer, that dump trailer is going to be far superior if you're going to be constantly unloading material and we'll be able to handle much higher weight capacity. The downside of the dump trailer since we're in the same situation with the old trucks is going to be, The added weight of the dump trailer and the material it can haul will put a lot of strain on the truck and more than likely wear it out, prematurely the brakes, transmission and everything else.
@PowerThroughMusicАй бұрын
@@sololawnprofessionalBut you think the 12000 lb wil be strong enough for a 16 ft trailer full of brush? I load a trailer then chop it more with my chainsaw to fit more brush. I’m trying to get a trailer now with walls made on already and then weld my winch and everything on the trailer. All I have is an 8x10 trailer atm

Can't believe how much good firewood is dumped there...

Think a 12000 lb winch with this setup would work well for a tree company to haul branches and logs?
@sololawnprofessionalАй бұрын
Sorry for the delay. Your previous comment disappeared on me. The winch will be completely fine moving debris from a landscape trailer. There's videos out there of 12,000 lb winches pulling trees over pulling tractors out of mud. It's extremely powerful. Unfortunately I can only get about two unloads with my group 24 battery so think about getting a larger battery to run it and have the ability to charge it.

I'm thinking I should maybe make some kind of channel for the false wall to slide into so it stays moving at a 90% angle instead of possibly turning while it's moving.
@sololawnprofessional7 ай бұрын
Everything you see here is just so I can take it apart real quick and put my mower back on the trailer. The only problem with running through a track that I can foresee is debris getting hung up like mulch that kind of stuff and binding up the situation. I have some new videos where I'm using it with the walls bolted on for doing leaves and that kind of stuff and it works perfectly fine

Just ask me the questions on here and I can make a brief video for you if needed
@jamess9910 Жыл бұрын
@sololawnprofessional thank you. First question, at 1:23 you show the winch wire coming out of the plate, without the big fairlead they give you in the box. Did you leave that off for any reason?
@sololawnprofessional Жыл бұрын
@@jamess9910 I didn't use the big fair lead because there wasn't any room for it under the trailer there's barely enough room for the winch mounting plate
@jonsheahan3816 Жыл бұрын
I noticed in the video that it looks like you put a cable lock on the winch to keep it or is it there for something else? Also it looked like you put a piece of metal underneath the pulley for the cable in the back, possibly to keep the cable on the pulley?
@sololawnprofessional Жыл бұрын
@@jonsheahan3816 The cable lock is just for theft deterrent. The rear roller frame is made of scrap metal and the first time I tried it out with a full trailer load the roller frame bent in half. It wasn't built strong enough so I made a new frame and used pieces of the bent metal to reinforce it. I have not had any trouble with the cable falling off the roller while in operation.
