You should also check out "I Get Weak", "Mad About You", "Circle in the Sand," "Leave a Light On", and my personal favorite, "Summer Rain". Thanks for reacting! I love Female Friday! To answer your question - the GoGos broke up in 1985 due to "creative differences", and several members were having drug problems. They have gotten together several times since then to do reunion shows, and even did a reunion tour in 2021 (with Billy Idol!), which coincided with their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I think of more than just love with this song. “In this world, we’re just beginning to understand the miracle of living…. they say in heaven love comes first. I laughed out loud when you mentioned her sounding a bit punk because the Go-Go's actually started out as a punk band before realizing they had to move to pop to actually break. There was a TV show called "Behind the Music" that did an hour on the band, how they formed, and why they broke up. Turns out the girls were just as into drugs as sex as the guys were. The guitarist Jany Weiland is actually a dominatrix now. Definitely worth a watch. You could have a lot of fun and get very educated by reacting to episodes of that show. Would answer a lot of questions about a lot of bands I've heard you bring up during various reaction videos you've done.

The Go-Go's are one of the best bands ever. Belinda, was the lead singer and her solo work is excellent. Check out "Mad About You", "Circle in the Sand". The Go-Go's went from nothing to huge in such a short period of time and the success, drugs and everything else that came with it took its toll. I've been waiting a long time for you to discover this beautiful gem of a song! One small note, the title is Heaven is a Place on Earth. This was a #1 single off her 2nd solo album, also called Heaven is a Place on Earth released in 1987. She had a very successful solo career after the Go-Go's broke up and in my opinion is one of the most underrated singers ever. The man who appears with her in the video is her actual husband, who also appeared with her in the video for the song Mad About You, her first solo single off her first solo album, Belinda. As far why the Go-Go's broke up, it was the usual thing that happens to a lot of bands, egos got in the way, different members wanted to do different things, and no small amount of drug abuse. They have reunited and broken a couple more times but now occasionally put on a few shows. I haven't seen them together in decades but I did catch Belinda by herself at the Minnesota State Fair a few years ago. For some other great songs from her solo career, I suggest the afore-mentioned Mad About You, Circle in the Sand, I Feel the Magic, Summer Rain, La Luna, Little Black Book, Nobody Owns Me, Do You Feel Like I feel, (We Want) the Same Thing, Runaway Horses, In Too Deep, You're Nothing Without Me, I Plead Insanity, Tell Me, One With You, California, A Woman and a Man, and Always Breaking My Heart.

Belinda was the "not Madonna" of the 80s. Madonna was known to be fairly risqué while Belinda was known to be like the girl next door. The Go-Gos didn't last too long from what I remember, unless they started earlier than I thought. Because I can only remember one, maybe two songs from the Go-Gos, while Belinda went on to be pretty popular in the mid to late 80s, but just like most 80s pop stars, they lost their fame in the 90s when everything turned to Grunge, Boy Bands, and Hip Hop/Gangsta Rap. But by the mid 90s, you started getting your pop stars again like Alanis Morisette, Gwen Steffani in No Doubt, Lady Gaga, and Brittney Spears. But back to Belinda...she literally dropped off the radar by the early 90s. I remember asking myself, "whatever happened to Belinda Carlisle?" It seems like just shortly after releasing this record, and maybe the next, she disappeared from the music scene. As did a lot of the 80s pop stars as I said above. The massive change in the music scene circa 1992 just devastated a lot of the 80s stars. It was like, where'd everybody go? Thank God it's not like that today. At least not in my favorite genre, heavy metal, where we still have bands from the 80s and 90s still around, because the genre has proven itself to be pretty timeless. Seriously. I hate to keep harping on this in a lot of these Millennial/Gen Z Reaction channels where y'all are just now discovering some of the greatest Singles to ever been released from that bygone Era, but if you can latch onto a genre that tends to be timeless, you will always have a popular form of music that lasts forever. I think I'll be listening to Metal till the day I die, and I got into it at the Age of 13. I'm pushing 50 now, I'll be 49 in a little over 4 months, so... But one reason why I think Metal will endure for a long time yet is because it has not only matured, but it has also evolved. In the 80s, the Golden Era of Metal, there was only about 4 genres of Metal...Thrash/Speed Metal, Hair Metal, Death Metal, and what now known as Traditional Metal, which is that which doesn't fall into any other category. But now, 40 years into the main genre, you literally have dozens, some of which are off shoots of others, but there's most likely something out there for everybody. Symphonic Metal for example seems to be a genre that is an easy way to ease girls into Metal who haven't been exposed to it before. Bands like Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica, Visions of Atlantis, etc, which are female fronted, btw, are great ways to get girls to say, "Hey, this stuff is pretty good." And I also see a lot of Black reactors who would normally listen to Rap, right, who start hearing some Metal and they start jamming along with it. It's a great thing to see. But anyway...yeah, Belinda man...I would say that she was my crush in the late 80s there. As for some more suggestions for Female Friday, I highly recommend the band Visions of Atlantis. As I mentioned above, they're a Austrian Symphonic Metal band with a French lead female singer with an Italian male back up singer. They do Nautical themed music, like Pirates, and stuff like that. And for an intro to the band, I highly suggest the songs "Release My Symphony (Live)" from their last album, and then "Master the Hurricane" from their current album. Both 7 minute-ish epics that will blow your socks off.
