@@TheMinimalMom As an experienced camper (I've camped since I was 9 months old. My parents camped the entire summer at a County Park until I was 14 and the county came up with this B.S. that you couldn't stay at the camp for more than 14 days. That ended my parents camping for 3-4 yrs until they found a place that allowed you to camp for the entire summer (privately owned campgrounds) for a fee. *************************************************************************************************** I think I've found a good reason to start a YT channel, giving experiences to first-time campers like yourselves. There's a lot of things about camping you obviously don't know and hey, you have to start somewhere, I get that. However, I think the outdoor kitchen concept (IMO) is ridiculous. We cooked over the fire, had a camp stove (Coleman Stove). I suggest a folding table, a crockpot, and a tripod for cooking over the fire. Individual cereal boxes (kids love things like that which they don't get often!!) Simple lunches and meals in the Crockpot OR over the fire. Remember, camping is for MOM too, it shouldn't be all work.

I kind of wish we had done this! we bought a vehicle last summer that could tow... and then bought a camper in November. it is SO long (for 7 of us)! It's really intimidating to pull. We have only used it twice. And spent 19K on it.

@@kamehaz the per night cost of renting is high, but then you don't have all the storage fees, if you can't keep it on your property, or long term maintenance. Plus most people don't use them THAT much...and you can sometimes rent at your destination so you don't have to tow

Many years camping, almost all “lack” counter space. If you look for one you can build a removable butcher block/wood top counter top extension with a single leg on the end of the island, you’ll open your options up. This small inexpensive and fast fix can often double your counter space :)

Here I am going on year 5 and we are DONE! We have a larger 5th-wheel too and I still complain about lack of space all the time for a family of 3. I want my big house back. We are in limbo right now waiting for a nice rental house to open up and we are selling this and never looking back. Yes we have good memories but this past year has been a lot of troubles (we bought used but it was barely used...some fade on the outside but inside was nice). We have never and would never paint the inside. Not due to weight but the pain of it. If I will never paint inside a regular stick-n-brick house again (will hire that done if I ever want to paint a house again), I sure am not painting inside a rv!

That's the exact model our family just purchased this year. Our family of 7 really enjoyed it on our first trip out. Ours did have the outdoor kitchen on the back in place of the 4th bunk. That really does make all the difference. I love how you flipped the master bed. I have to sleep crumpled up as I'm 6'4". My wheels are turning.... But first I need to finish my home projects. Lol. I agree about length and size. I wish they still made the excursion. I had to buy an expedition to get a seven seater that would handle the 9k+ lbs. It's a little under powered but it's mechanicaly sound which was my biggest priority. We've broken down on vacation before with all the kids. Es no bueno. Best of luck finding just the right model.

That very wrong green was the color of our bedroom when we bought our house. We lived with it for 12 years while we remodeled and redecorated every other room in the house. I was putting it off because I wanted to remodel the open closet space first. I didn't want to have to paint the closet all over again after the remodel. After listening to your minimalism videos and Laura Hutchinson's KZbin videos on decluttering, I minimized my wardrobe and realized that the closet no longer needed a remodel -- there was more than enough hanging space and shelves for the wardrobe I had left. It was such a wonderful feeling to finally have soothing taupe walls. Thanks!

Wow! Your husband is a saint....well he's young too. We are just finishing up a kitchen remodel and right this minute at 8:59 mine is in his chair, falling asleep after running to work and the grocery store. No he did not do the remodel, but he did lots of ancillary work like tearing it out, putting in the hood and working on the duct work through the roof, but the roofers came and did work on that. We are really hoping to get a camper to travel throughout the United States after his retirement in a few years. You guys remind me of my youngest daughter and her former Marine husband (who is now legally blind). They just sold their tiny California home for $70,000 more than the mini-mansion they are buying in Texas. The completely redid the tiny home (1237 sf) and added a third daughter. I was there yesterday and baby girl was in the jumpy thing while the older girls (6&12) were helping do stuff. My daughter was walking around with putty filling holes in the walls for their buyers (another military family). My husband does excellent work, but right now we are concentrating on our garden. He built a new very large greenhouse from a kit from Home Depot that has a ton of tomatoes and peppers in it. Good on you guys!

Still trying to find a rental house in this tight market. I won't ever full-time again. After having to do a ton of maintenance to keep the slide out seams from leaking we decided no more slide outs for us if we can help it. (Although the extra space they give you is nice) We went completely minimal with ours and it just has a small kitchenette, a bathroom, happyjak bed (Comes down from the ceiling) but we like it so much better than our older, larger 'fancy' camper. We mainly boondock at places in our state but I can't wait to take it somewhere like Florida!

That was quite the journey! Campers are never ending work but if you keep everything sealed properly, wash and wax, you’ll have it for years to enjoy. Maybe you should consider a heftier tow vehicle before the next one? Can’t wait to see where this goes😊

I'm more like Jim Gaffigan when it comes to camping. No thanks. Plus it's too close to being homeless. And that is something that a time some of us have been very close to. So it brings no joy within me to be in any kind of a camper. I want my snuggle --- but you enjoy it because it's beautiful...

We had a camper for several years and it definitely was NOT our thing. We love being outside but I like my bed to sleep in. Just as a word of caution to anyone considering it: They are expensive to maintain and store (plus insurance and plates), and it was a huge pain for us to attach/detach/set up camp when we had 2 small kids at the time and my husband has difficulty focusing on those kind of things. I think if you know for sure you're "camping people" then go for it. If you're not sure, then you probably aren't "camping people." Happy for you and love you show!

Ooh can you do a video(s) on family camping? I don't think I've seen that on your channel. Like what to pack for kids, what to pack for us parents, easy food hacks. Heck - how to park a trailer!

Have you guys ever considered flipping campers and turning them into AirBnbs?! Your remodels are absolutely beautiful and so many people could enjoy them that way! It’s also a great promotional and money making opportunity for you too!💗

When our kids were in Rodeo we camped with a couple who had taken a school bus and repurposed it to a camper. The outside looked like a bus but the inside was super cool. Personally I would have painted the outside but just an idea 💡. You could pull a vehicle behind you

We have a 17BH right now. We would love a little bit bigger but nothing more than 25ft. My husband has a desire to keep it under 5,000lbs. We have looked at the Grand Design (lovely but heavy) and Forrest River so far. I can't wait too see what you guys end up buying!

Camping is usually affiliated with roughing it and not worrying about a designer home on rolling wheels. Would you paint the inside of your tent if it didn't suit you? Yes facetious I am, but as the other comments have stated, when do you not have a project on? Maybe just rent a trailer for a couple of weeks? You two are better than anything else on television! Hugs to you all!

Oh no! It's too late now, but cold weather and paint don't mix.... obviously. A sprayer does usually work great though, just not in the snow. Lol. It sure looks like that darling camper will be perfect for the family to live in while they build. I know I'd love it.
