“…And Loving It” was part of a reoccurring joke in the TV series “Get Smart”, which Mel helped create with Buck Henry.

The coach driver at the beginning is Ezio Greggio, an italian comedian and friend of Mel Brooks. He wrote and directed his own horror spoof with Silence of the Hams, a parody of Psycho and Silence of the Lambs in 1994. Mel Brooks has a cameo in it.

Calling the daymare, moving the coffin or the chandelier, and the return of Dracula's shadow during the dance with Mina... Okay, what alias were you using in the movie's credits? Sure seems like you deserved a writing credit, Aria! 🤣 -- Amazing reaction as always! Your sense of humor always reminds me of what I love about these movies.

The woman with that sold the cross to Renfield was Mel Brooks real life wife Anne Bancroft. And to see Leslie Nielsen in a more serious role watch "Forbidden Planet" where he is Captain of a space ship.

If people like this movie, I always suggest they watch "TransylvaniaTwist" its a spoof of lots of horror movies and scifi references. From Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface chasing the same girl through the woods in the opening sequence, to Hellraiser's 'Pinhead' coming out of an acupuncture salon. It also makes fun of things like Wheel of Fortune, the Honeymooners, old scifi, 3D movies, cameramen getting distracted by pretty women and even silly songs. RIP Angus Scrimm of the Phantasm movies, in TT he parodies his horror character in an enjoyable way.

He could have warned them. Yes he could have but where’s the comedy in that? As the character of Jonathan went to stake Lucy, Mel Brookes and Leslie Neilson both knew what was coming but no one else knew the level of blood that was coming. For another good comedy take on Dracula watch the movie “Love at First Bite”. It’s a Dracula spoof that was created from a discussion about how you would go about making the sun tan king, George Hamilton into the character of Dracula. If you haven’t watched it yet “Robin Hood Men In Tights” is another good parody movie from Mel Brookes.

I also thought I had watched enough Dracula movies to get everything in this movie, but I had never watched the 1931 Spanish language version (filmed parallel with the Bela Lugosi movie). When re-watching this one later on, I saw a lot of the slightly camp acting of Carlos Villarías in Leslie Nielsen's character. Also, I found the performance of Peter MacNicol as Renfield to be even funnier. Another movie that this one made fun of is the 1967 vampire comedy The Fearless Vampire Killers (aka Dance of the Vampires). But mostly it's the 1931 Lugosi version and the 1992 Bram Stoker's Dracula directed by FF Coppola that is parodied.

The staking scene will never not be funny. Just the second staking having even MORE blood and Johnathan throwing his hands up as if to say "Of course!"and his little chuckle. If you stay after the credits, Dracula says "Servaaannniiiaaa...."just at the WB credit afterwards. He got the last word! You should try "Kung Pow:Enter the Fist"!

This film is so odd because it seems less like a spoof of the Dracula tale and more like a tongue-in-cheek remake of the 1931 film with slapstick added. It's so utterly faithful in the retelling that it actually functions as its own version of the story, not simply a send-up of it. Contrast it with Young Frankenstein, which is certainly a spoof and not a direct remake of anything. Young Frankenstein takes some of its plot points from the third Universal movie, Son of Frankenstein, but it draws upon various classic scenes from the first three films and remixes them into a satirical pastiche with its own identity.

You certainly had enough dracula movies under your belt to appreciate this parody. And it made for a great reaction too. But I think you are wrong in saying it was mostly a spoof of the 1930s Bela Lugosi dracula movies. It came out right after the Gary Oldman adaptation and it played equally off that version. It's not the first time they tried to make a spoof of that genre though. And you being an afficionado probably already know about Roman Polanski's THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS. I recall that it was very funny. Maybe not wall to wall funny like the Mel Brook's treatment, but intelligent funny, more of a highbrow comedy. And it also starred his wife Sharon Tate in one of her last roles. You might want to check it out if you haven't already seen it. Would probably work well as a reaction video though since I'd guess not too many in your audience has seen it and likely wouldn't tune in.

Total truth time! I watch your reactions often. Letting you know that you are dealing with a SANE person who realizes that he will never meet you, I think you will not be scared when I tell you that every time, I see you have a new video lyrics from a David Bowie song play unbidden in my head, - " Your face, your race, The way that you talk. I kiss you, Your beautiful. I want you to walk!" So yes, don't freak, but a complete stranger has a hard crush on you! Damn girl, there ain't nothing I see about you that I don't like! I hope that you will take this note as the harmless comment it was meant to be and not the act of a deranged stalker! I don't think you will, but these days there are a lot of sick people. Anyway, in summation, I am sane, you are hot. I've got a crush on you and since I will never meet you, I want to brighten your day by giving you the sincerest compliment that I know! I pray that it is taken as such! And your voice is sexy as hell!

Well now, Aria, in my honest opinion, you don't really need to conduct _that_ much research to enjoy _Young Frankenstein._ As I understand it, it _most_ directly lampoons the movie _Frankenstein_ that came out in 1931, but I say, "As I understand it..." because I have yet to _see_ the original. _Young Frankenstein_ is _still_ a movie I enjoy. You don't really need to be familiar with _Star Wars_ to enjoy _Spaceballs,_ you don't really need to be familiar with _Star Trek_ to enjoy _Galaxy Quest_ and you don't really need to be familiar with _Frankenstein_ to enjoy _Young Frankenstein._ In each case, it _helps_ a little, but it's not really necessary.

"She's alive?" "She's Nosferatu." "She's Italian?" Fun Fact: The ship's name "The Demeter" is consistent with Bram Stoker's novel. Casting Notes Fact: Steven Weber and Amy Yasbeck both co-starred in the highly popular Wings (1990). Parody Fact: Much of the dialogue from the original classic Dracula (1931) picture is repeated here and spoofed. This includes the film's star Leslie Nielsen doing a spoof-impersonation of the famed Bela Lugosi. What Script Fact: For the scene in which Harker puts a stake in Lucy's (Lynette Anthony) heart, Mel Brooks didn't tell Steven Weber that he would be covered in 200 gallons of blood, so that his reaction would appear natural. This led him to ad-lib: "She's dead enough." Deep Cut Reference Fact: The character of the gypsy woman Madame Ouspenskaya, who was portrayed by Mel Brooks' wife actress Anne Bancroft, was named after Maria Ouspenskaya, who played the character of Maleva in both The Wolf Man (1941) and Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man (1943). As Renfield (Peter MacNicol) arrives at the hospital at the end of the film, he turns, holds up his hands and laughs exactly as Herman Munster does in the credits for the original TV show The Munsters (1964) starring Fred Gwynne.

Actually it is Son of the Dragon, Vlad the Impaler was also known as Vlad III Dracula. The name Dracula means “son of Dracul.” In the Romanian language today, dracul means “the devil”-drac is “devil,” ul is “the”-but it is derived from the Latin dracō, “dragon.” (Dragons have been historically associated with Satan, hence the evolution.) Now, “son of Dracul” is a reference to Vlad’s father, who was a member of the Order of the Dragon, a Christian society of knights in the manner of Crusaders. The order chose as its patron saint, St. George, famed for his legendary slaying of a dragon.

Yes "YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN" is done the same way. That's why it is so important to watch the first 3 Frankenstein movies. "FRANKENSTEIN" "THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN" AND "THE SON OF FRANKENSTEIN" they are all 90 minutes or less. All 3 are used in "YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN" if you don't watch all 3 you will miss a lot of the jokes. It's 100 times better than this movie. I loved your reaction to this movie.
