If you're having issues binding the Rudder axis to your Triggers, try using Steam to play DCS World (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4bEfn6bYsqHp8U ). This will combine gamepads with 2 trigger axes into 1 single trigger axis and will allow you to properly use the Rudder in DCS.

There are also cheaper options to get a hotas, you don’t have to buy a thrustmaster A-10 to enjoy hotas. Thrustmaster Hotas One is probably the best bank for your money if you’re looking for an entry level hotas

If you use a VR headset, you could replace camera look with target designator slew or replace trim with turn on laser range finder and electro-optical camera. So you can really experience all of DCS in the frogfoot.

Thanks for this. I got the A-10C module back in 2013 but found the hardest thing was being able to look around in a decent manner. I would like to know more pls, I want to get in DCS using a Xbox One controller. This video and instructions was very helpful. Personally I would go with LT/RT as throttel, LB/RB as rudder for yaw, B for weapons, A for guns, and both Flare/Chaff fire off together with Y. So A is left open.

If anybody is using a PS4 controller, make sure you have your steam input correctly setup. I had the problem of not assigning my triggers a soft pull, so my rudders were all or nothing and stayed engaged.

Having an issue with the rudder binding. For some reason the rudder is stuck either full left or full right, depending on which trigger I have binded. I have to hold the trigger down to center it, if I let go it immediately swings back left as if I'm hold down the trigger. Any solution?

Yup, see pinned comment. Basically you'll want to run DCS though Steam with the appropriate controller support enabled. Whether it's Steam Edition or even Standalone

Unfortunately the only way to do this in DCS is by further decreasing the "Saturation Y" axis tune setting. Another option you could try is setting a curve on top of that, but it may still not be enough without resorting to Steam for mouse control. hey i got an issue with the view (head turning) in your video is kind fo smooth, with my game (using your exact setting) it's incredibly itchy and not smooth at all, looking on the side on a FIX point is nearly impossible, it keeps "jumping", nearly impossible to use without having your eyes melt... any idea why? it's like it's "super sensitive".

It's likely because you need to set that up through the Axis Commands section. Thumbsticks are analog axis controls, and because of that cannot be bound to the individual Left, Right, Up and Down slew button directions

If it doesn't allow you to set both modifiers to a single action, double check and make sure you've actually set both bumpers as modifiers to begin with. There should be no reason you can't bind using two modifiers as long as you've set both bumpers as modifiers before binding other controls.

This is because your triggers are two separate axes (ie. PlayStation or really old Xbox 360) instead of a single shared axis (Xbox One, Xbox Series, or any other modern X-input controller). The easiest solution is to run DCS through Steam, whether it's Steam Edition or Standalone Edition. You'll just need to add Standalone manually as a non-Steam game

Unfortunately there will be issues with the rudder axis on PS4 and PS5 controllers. But honestly, I'm tempted to just remove this tutorial entirely in favor of my newest one. really struggling to even learn how to play this game because seems like every control i need is missing. For example, i dont even have "pitch" as an option to change on my list. My controller picks up fine and i can clear all the controller controls but i have no pitch option at all on my list. I do see TDC Slew and Camera view but these are my only options on the axis menu. If anyone knows how i can add pitch to my list that would be great. I really want to try the game out before going all in on a hotas setup and spending extra on that because it does look enjoyable. It's just not even playable for me at the moment to find out if i would like it or not because i dont seem to have all of the controls showing up for me that everyone else does lol.

This only happens when your controller isn't connected, or if your controller doesn't have any analog axes for whatever reason. Make sure it's plugged in and detected by Windows, Steam, etc.

But i cant use the right joystick together with the modifier for the TDC adjustements. All buttons with the modifiers are working correctly.

Yeah, your only solution really is to unbind the absolute binds and just setup mouse control via Steam. It's FAR better than DCS'built in camera control system

I cannot get rudder to be bound to both triggers. Basically, when I don't touch the left trigger, it registers as rudder 100% left. If I hold the left trigger halfway in, it would be neutral rudder, and if I fully press left trigger, it would register as rudder to the right

This is likely due to you using a PlayStation style controller, or a very old Xbox 360 controller. Basically, instead of your triggers being a single, shared axis.. they are instead 2 individual axes. The only way around this is to use a program like Steam to take your controller and make it look like an Xbox controller to the game. This will combine the triggers into a single, shared axis.

When I try to bind the buttons ( X, Circle, Square, Triangle, All D-pad buttons) they don't register as anything. I've been able to get the joysticks and triggers to register but nothing else. Using a Ps4 controller? Anyone else having this issue?

ik the comment is 2 months as of reading but i just tried aswell with a ps4 controller and it doesn't work. apparently it works with an xbox one which is unfortunate.

I just watched the video on how to control the mouse with the right stick for a ps4 controller. ON DCS and I'm confused it wont disable the input when I hold L1 anyone know of a fix to this

I'll need more information about what's going wrong. Are you able to look around just fine by moving the mouse with right stick movement? If so, then is your only issue that L1 is not preventing you from looking around? Or is there more going wrong than just that?
