You look so beautiful, Katie! Thanks for posting this. I'm really glad to do your classes from home. From a young age I dreamed of being a professional ballerina, and I still would love to be, but unfortunately I was born with terrible genetics so I have the littlest turnout you've ever seen, haha. It's discouraging but your classes make it possible for me to continue doing ballet even as an adult now. Thank you!

Hi! I was wondering if you will be doing the KM Scholarship again? I saw the post about it on your blog last December, but it has always said that you will be opening up for more entries soon.

I never understand the tights on the OUTSIDE of a leotard. Can someone explain that logic? It seems one would do that if they forgot to put on their tights, then decided there was no time to fix the problem and said aw screw it, it looks aight. Lol 😑
@LouJordanEU3 жыл бұрын
Often the dancers change out of tights to dance contemporary (without tights) after doing a classical class. Quick change without peeling off the sweaty leotard just to take the tights off makes it easier. Also, many dancers simply prefer to wear it this way because the waistband on tights (i.e. Capezio) are very tight and creates a pinched waistline underneath the leotard. Muffin top effect if you know what I mean. Plus, the visible waistband allows a dancer to train their hips to stay squared and no tilting, just like a ballet belt worn in technique class in beginner/intermediate classes. If you watch a ton of company ballet classes with professional dancers, about almost half of the dancers will wear it this way and it’s a common practice. It’s something you get use to seeing if you dance a lot or watch a ton of ballet classes. We all do it, makes dance life easier and more effective. ~Annelise

I'm not a dancer, and don't understand everything involved in these movements, but even though I do like ballet, this all seems rather boring to me, especially with no breaks or commentary.
@samanthanovak73163 жыл бұрын
This video really isn't aimed at you, it is for someone who wants to dance along (and likely has already watched the one with breaks and talking).Barre is for practicing foundational skills and developing strength, not aimed at performance quality (there's a reason you don't see a lot of barres in performance).

@Cancer Survivor I don't think that's a necessary reply, there's lots of beautiful things for a person who likes ballet to enjoy on this channel. I'm sure Kathryn would want people to feel welcome on this channel, and its just a matter of knowing which content to check out.

Hi Sherry, Katie does two videos of her classes. First there is one that is like an actual class, where she teaches the exercises and offers tips throughout. She then follows that up with a version like this, so that once you've done the class a few times, you don't need to be taught the exercises each time and can just follow along without the need to skip ahead on the video. It's a brilliant resource for dancers (especially at the moment) but understandably isn't going to interest non dancers as much. However, if it's commentary you're after Katie has loads of those on her channel, I'd recommend checking them out. 👍🏻
