I appreciate the feedback and will try to communicate more clearly what the challenge is about in the future. The Goal is to win within a certain set of restrictions, in this case the restrictions were to not micro my army except with amoving and precasting certain spells (guardian shield, dropping from a prism), I think I did a poor job explaining the exact restrictions because they were so clear in my head. The reason I didn't wanna watch the fight in the middle was because I was trying to mimick a common advice given to worse players which is " Dont look at your army just a-move and focus on macro" . I realise a lot of these thoughts on how the challenge should play out were never really communicated to the audience so I am sorry for that. I will try to be more clear on that in the future. did you do any comparison if your macro was better, even at the highest level, just because you could only focus on that? something like workers total produced going up, resources not spent going down, etc. And there also things that could be improved if you do no micro, like making sure to never getting supply blocked and building pylons vision around the map to get vision, so that could be improved with no micro. So even with no micro there are still things to improve on. I enjoyed this challenge. GG. LE: the mine drop defense was totally micro, but I get it why you did it, if you didn't you'd be just dead and it would be a useless game, even so, I don't think you target fired so no problems from my side.

Vibe's bronze to GM series is him never even looking at armies in the metal leagues to illustrate how macro is way more important than micro. Watch an episode of bronze or silver, it's pretty funny. He just maxes out and sent massive waves against his opponents lol

How about Lord of the Rings' "Ghost Army". Start normally- defend only, gather bunch of resources while secretly building an army of cloaked units. Minimum 50 supply army to launch a "ghost ball of death" attack

I love how far Harstem takes challenges, like way past what I would expect him to do. Can't micro so just leave the entire probe line besides these hellions, can't micro so just have to watch this zealot die to a cannon instead of going home. I'm sure metal leaguers have right click figured out my friend.

The runby setup challenge: You're only allowed to build 1 gateway in your bases (2 against protoss) and all your other gateways must be at different locations in the map (only 1 gateway for every proxy pylon). This is gonna give you a lot of runbys potential and map vision. If this is too easy, you're also only allowed to warp in units at proxy locations or with war prisms.

This video is hilarious and underrated. Would love to see a series of "selling the art" macro only play style. Rules could be: -A move for all attacks, preferably on the mini map -Scouting is OK -OK to defend the probe line / pull probes, but it has the be the entire line per base, which I would consider a macro move. This could be an amazing series... if you're willing to do it... I realize it will be somewhat painful compared to the normal way 😂

This was painful. I could tell you felt the same. Lmao @ the art gallery metaphor though. Okay, here's something I've been thinking about: use warp prisms to supply probes to all of your expansions, except the natural. Why walk when you can FLY?? Get the speed upgrade. Send the probes out in the black hawks, because they're faster and the shortest path between two points is a straight line :P

Some ideas for challenges: 1. The proxy Tech Challenge: You cannot build any tech or upgrade structures in the main or natural or any base that has already a Nexus. They can all be built in the same place or in different places. The only structures allowed in the main or natural and bases already taken are Gateway, Robotics Facility, Stargate, and 1 cannon or battery per base 2. The hallucination army: Create a full hallucinated army and a real one, then try to confuse the opponent to move their army to engage the hallucinated one, while the real one wins the game :D 3. The 'All Army' Challenge, inline with the A move challenge.... You can only use the select all army hotkey to control the army. Or maybe if that is not possible, the no control group challenge, only green box selection...

I have been binge watching all these challenge videos and I love it! Do you take suggestions for challenges? I have a silly silly build idea and if you try it just once I would be so happy! First step is you use hallucination to create a unit that is threatening an all in, like an immortal sentry push but its just hallucinated immortals. You walk up with your army and your opponent will be smart and say "Hah those are hallucinations! Your mindgame wont work on me!". Next you then back off and try to sell that your expanding/teching/transitioning or whatever, but your actually just massing immortals for a delayed all in. The same all in you were hallucinate bluffing earlier!!!! It definitely doesnt have to be immortals, just any reasonable hallucinated unit that would force a serious reaction from your opponent. Does that make sense to anyone? Anyways peace and love

Hi Harstem, I would like to propose a challenge. Not sure if this was done before but I would like to see all units only being allowed to move in the pylon power field. Scouting with probe and one early oracle will be allowed but that is it, apart from your first base probes EVERYTHING else can only move between the power field (That means a pylon will be needed at other bases for probes). A probe will be allowed to move outside the field and can be rebuilt if it dies. Good luck and thanks for the great content.

This is close to what I suggested in an earlier video. Although my suggestion was a bit more strict. And technical. I suggested to simply not allow "screening", that is, moving the screen, to the opposite half of the map. So, in a technical sense, you wouldn't be able to micro on that side, because you wouldn't be able to really see what's going on. But it would also limit scouting, since at most you'd see dots on the minimap.

Challenge, you can ONLY use all army hotkey, no control groups. You can micro units in a fight, but you can't have multiple groups attacking from different areas.

I like the idea of only being able to attack if you have a warp prism with your army. To attack in two places, a warp prism with each army, etc. if they kill warp prism that army has to retreat.

Build Batteries and Cannons before or during every engagement, power them up with Warp Prisms so you don't need t buld pylons first. The idea is to mimick the wall of Medivacs behind Terran armies that permanently heal up during engagements.

Have you done a "Legacy of the Void Cinematic" challenge? We all love the trailers that Blizzard puts out for Starcraft, but they often face criticism for completely disregarding game balance (since when does a pylon take 90 seconds to warp in?). Prove all the reddit armchair analysts wrong by winning only using Protoss units which are shown in the Legacy of the Void opening cinematic. That means: - Zealots - Probes - High Templar - Archons (PS: if you think this is too easy, then you can add further restrictions if you want, like max. 2 HT per game, because only 2 are present in the cinematic but there is a huge chargelot warp in)

Could a suggestion be 'x strat to high gm' i know people have done these already but most of them arent at your level, and for a 4.3k player like me its really interesting to see and hear why certain strats are good/arent good against variant strats at variant points in the game. I.e. often casters say 'oh you cant do x strat here' and i just think "mate i die to it on ladder all the time.. why cant you?" So its really good to see why exactly certain things are ir are not viable in variant scenarios. Which is pretty much what youre doing here.. but if you was to do a serious tryhard: 'only build blink stalkers.' With all micro upgrades etc allowed.. it would be really interesting to her you explain the ins and outs of how the blink engages vs other strats and comps

I feel like 'macro microing' would've been fine. What I mean is, things like stutter stepping the entire control group a little bit. That's something even mid-level players can do fairly well. Or, target firing down specific units with the whole group (but not splitting units to different attacks). I appreciate that harstem took the challenge to a crazy level, but I think that sorta defeats the point too. Maybe it's entertaining for some, but I actually found it a little aggravating heh.

I play random. The amount of salt you get from players who just know one strat is amazing. Today a zerg built analworm tunnels into my base, saw my phoenix and started building mutas. Count the wasted gas on that shit alone. My plan was to start off with some phoenixes, attack with zealot/archon in the midgame, and then take more stargates, make a bunch of carriers, and do the old A-movearooni. I did NOT get that far, my midgame pressure just annihilated him. People do weird stuff and get salty when it doesn't work. Hell, I do that too. But I don't say so in chat at least...... ;)

How about a GERMAN Challenge ? Rule: You have to fight like the modern germany military. This means you can not attack anyone without getting shot at first and if the enemy stops attacking you need to cease fire as well.

Challenge: you may not use controlgroups. If thats too hard use just 1, 2, .... controlgroups. You may set cameras. If its too easy you may now not set any cameras. Pro challenge: dont use hotkeys
