That the stuff is the bomb. I having been reviewing and touting this product for months and months. I have received so many questions about this product on Amazon, can’t even count. This stuff is the real deal and can stop a puncture up to a 1/2 in. The green goo and the tire inserts don’t perform as well as Flatout! For less than 20 bucks you can do four bike tires. The other products that are on the market just don’t hold a candle to this. I’ve used it I’ve tested it and I have not had a flat yet in over a year of riding my E bike over all kinds of terrain. Good job Chris. I think every bicyclist, motorcyclist, people who have small tractors or even RV trailers, should put this product in their tires. Can’t say enough about it! I have been other videos on it but I’m glad you did yours! You’re an honest guy and a lot of people respect your opinion. I know I do! Thanks again.

@EbikeProducts Жыл бұрын
@@bbessi3454 yes. Just know it depends on where the hole is and how big for it to work. If it is on the side of the tire/tube or from the valve then it’s less likely to work. If the hole is in the center tread area, it can fix it pretty easily as long as it’s not a tear and just a puncture.

If while squeezing flat out into the inner tube, and flow stops, you have an air-lock. Disconnect the tube from the air fill valve, hold the hose above the bottle of flat-out, and let the fluid flow back into the bottle. Then, raise the bottle upside down above the hose and squeeze bottle so it just starts to flow out of the end of the hose, and immediately attach the hose to the inner tube inlet and start squeezing the fluid into the tire. This works!

Thanks for the video. Have you seen Tannus Tire Armor? EDIT: I was going that route after we had a flat on a Harley. 4 bottles of slime didn't work. Then, we got it to hold air with FlatOut aerosol cans. His bike slung goo for 50 miles going home...! These knobby stock tires are thin and easily punctured. There is a flat protector tire liner like thick tape that looks promising. Uses stock inner tubes and then add flatout to that combination for optimum flat protection vs the weight of the Tannus liners...
@EbikeProducts8 ай бұрын
I have a bunch of Tannus liners that I never installed after I put it in 2 bikes (this was before I started using flat-out). I love the soft ride it gave me, but the liners are such a pain to install and they begin to flatten over time and lose their effectiveness to prevent flats. I’ve only had 2 flats since using flat-out due to the sidewalls getting gashes too big for flat out to stop and reach. Tannus would not have done any better. Since flatout has been super effective and the easiest to install, it’s all I ever use now.

I've gone tubeless wherever I could (three bikes with wider than 2.0 inch tubeless ready tires). The rims don't have to say "tubeless ready". My four other skinnier tire bikes all have have tubes that I patch once, and only once, in case of a flat. The interesting part is that sometimes my patch leaks slightly, so, instead of redoing the patch, I inject sealant into the tube, and, voila, the leak is sealed and stays sealed. This technic is something that comes in very handy when touring for weeks on the open road. I only take with me a plastic bottle of sealant and a length of tubing that fits over the valve stem; no need to remove the core.

I use Flatout on my wheelbarrows, lawnmowers and bikes. The tubes retain pressure much better too, in addition to the flat prevention feature. Great video for sharing this essential information. I recently got my first ebike. A fat tire version to boot. I was watching videos to learn more about ebikes and maintenance and came across someone testing various flat preventative measures and all videos point to FlatOut being the best option. I was putting off purchasing it till i had all the necessary gear like a new helmet, goggles, phone mount, proper tools, etc etc and flat prevention was an afterthought as i have patches and pumps with me at all times. It is kind of a pain getting a wheel off on electric bikes with hub motors, as i learned from a flat, that i put the FlatOut on top of the priority list. I had my ebike since 7/14 and have already put about 350 miles on it and have had a flat, so FlatOut is now in my tires. I have to install my torque arms now as they came in yesterday.

I should also include that with the FlatOut (8 ounces in each) it seems that there is more bump buffering as well as seemingly reduced road noise with the all terrain tires it came with.

When I first got my Sondors e-bike it was running well with no flats at all. Riding in NYC you run into a lot of construction sites and one day I picked up a small tack nail. I was hoping to make it to work before the wheel went flat but nope. Lucky my bike folds and I was able to put it in a cab and get home. I ordered Armor dilloz red for my rear tire and that worked extremely well. But the price was hefty for a 20 oz bottle. When I got my second flat I started to look up something else that didn't cost as much and worked as well or better. That when I saw a video from a guy testing the different brands and Flat-Out beat all of them even when the guy drilled a quarter size hole in the tire, it still sealed it shut. So I order a bottle from Amazon and the price was half the price less then the Armor Dilloz, and you got away more for the price in the bigger bottle. Haven't had any flats ever since and I even had my tires upgraded and there was no leaks in the tires. Works great and when ever I talk to anyone about flats, I tell them to order Flat-Out and you'll never get flats again.

I did have 1 flat from a wire that sliced the sidewall. Flatout repaired it for a few miles and a couple of days when I leaned the bike and allowed it to seal the tear. It was too big of a rip though and it inevitably tore larger when we took the bike off-road and bounced around on it too much. I have not had any other flats for a few years since using flatout on at least a dozen or more e-bikes. Seriously, the stuff is amazing. I no longer use liners since I started using flatout. I don’t find it necessary. The flat I got from the wire would’ve not been prevented with a liner either and that’s the only problem I’ve ever had.

Before you let the air out of the tire or just fixing a flat with a new tube when you install the new tube put a small WIRE TIRE around the stem to keep it from pushing inwards while inflating the tire or adding the liquid.

Good tip going to add flat out to my fat tires tomorrow
@burtonbufford Жыл бұрын
I definitely need something like this! I've gotten like two flats this year and with me not driving, the nearest bike shop that works on ebikes is like 30 miles away so I'm usually down until I get a ride up that way to get ot fixed. I'm not mechanically inclined nor do I want to be or mess with stuff so this video was helpful even for my level of expertise. I just wish it actually worked on already flat tires. My Lectric 2.0 got a flat (again) so I'm currently awaiting the right time to get it fixed.
@EbikeProducts Жыл бұрын
I’m planning on doing a video soon on how to repair an already flat tire using Flatout. Depending on what caused the flat, you can actually put Flatout in and it can fix it. Keep in mind, it’s not a guarantee and you could end up wasting 1/2 a bottle if it doesn’t work. My plan is to make 2 holes in a tire simulating a screw puncture, thorn puncture in a tire without Flatout. Then I’m going to add it in and see if it seals it. Then keep it the way it is and do a follow up a week later while doing daily rides in between. I’m quite sure it will work. But keep in mind big rips in a tube won’t work.

I don't know, I've gotten one flat since 2017 using 26in fat tires, had I replaced the tire a little sooner it may have been avoided. I don't use anything in my tires, the only thing that I can see that I'm doing differently than everybody else's I keep the PSI between 10 and 14 on an ebike. Sometimes I'll put a little bit of baby powder in the tires, but that's probably not doing much.

Great idea to use the FlatOut Tire Sealant with one's fat tire; I have one of the Lectric XP Premium that has the built in mid drive mount electric motor for $1,900 right now; now it has 20 inch by 4 inch fat bike tires and in addition to using the FlatOut Tire Sealant which is a great tire sealant idea to utilize; one can also optionally upgrade one's fat tire to a Shinko 244 Series Dual Sport Tires which are specified at 3.00"-16" size to be compatible to fit 20 inch by 4 inch fat bike tires; they are a truly great option since typical 20 inch by 4 inch fat bike tires typically get about like maybe 1,800 miles of tire mileage before fat tire replacement is needed; but with the Shinko 244 one typically get about like maybe 5,400 miles of tire mileage before ultimately needing fat tire replacement; and the tire itself goes for about $53.95 so it is a very affordable and rather long lasting mileage fat tire replacement for the money; it however is a much heavier duty tire carcass which will require one to use some tire some dish soap and water as a supplemental tire lubricant aid to mount the heavier duty Shinko fat tire; along with using a pair of Harborfreight Pittsburgh Automotive 24 inch general purpose tire iron($6.99 per tire iron), simply use the curved offset hood end to remove tire bead and the curved spoon end to pull the last remaining section of tire bead over the rim; at $6.99 apiece one will need to buy two of them so it will still cost only $14 but it will make installing tires quite literally like child's play and; then one will be finally able to enjoy puncture and flat free tire performance for about the next 5,400 miles of tire mileage; though one might have a bit slower acceleration and one might have a one or two mph loss of maximum top speed mph but other than that the Shinko 244 3.00" by 16" fat tire combination when filled with the Flat Out tire sealant will be nearly impervious to flats while out on the road for at least 5,400 miles or so tire mileage; now since the Shinko 244 tire carcass is much heavier it is also capable of potentially actually sealed by using a conventional auto tire plug kit to get oneself back home in just five minutes after one locates the source of one's air leak on the leaking tire; by using one's handy trusty all purpose automotive tire plug kit also as well; without hardly ever needing to remove one Shinko 244 fat tire from one's wheel; I definitely love the idea of a potential five minute conventional tire plug fix especially if its raining or it its cold outside in particular.

Yes it works up to three eighth of an inch so long as its not to close to the sidewall; one can also use utilize a dual layer of the Thornbuster tire liner(s) also as well; also if one uses the Shinko 244 Series moto bmx fat tires the tire carcass design is much more substantial and robut; so much that one can actually potentially realize repairing ones Shinko 244 Series moto bmx fat tire with a conventional automotive tire plug using ordinary tire plug tools to seal up even a larger sized leak with two or three tire plugs in the tire carcass along with an additional sixteen ounces of additional Flat Out tire sealant should help to seal the puncture in the air tube leak all without even taking the fat tire off the rim whatsoever right on the rim itself within twenty minutes or so tops max.

Because some tire don't seat correctly when airing up you should always turn bike upside down to get weight off tire to seat properly , air up half way or a littel at a time , move tire around and look that its seating evenly around, you can also add some soapy water on both side of tire seat so that it pops in correctly to seat. if all even continue to air up tire.after spin tire a look to see its evenly seated. if not you can ruin tire.

Thanks. I was trying to find the vid on here that I've already watched, but couldn't find it. Think he said to take it for a several mile ride after using, to distribute it evenly. Just used it on my new E-Bike before it touched pavement the first time, then bedded my brakes for 3.5 miles. So that should be enough to get it nice & distributed throughout the tire, huh.

Take the E-bike tires for an eight mile fat e-bike ride out on the road in the field should get it evenly distributed during that ride quite thoroughly and completely.

@EbikeProducts Жыл бұрын
If you run tubeless, you will need to be prepared to work on it keeping in mind that the sealant is in the tire and you will want to work in a way to catch the liquid. If it is in a tube, it's really not that messy at all the sealant will stay in the tube. Believe it or not, but I've heard that some people will empty out the sealant from old tubes and tires and will reuse it again. I think it would be easier to just put new stuff in a new tire, but since it lasts 10 years anyway, I can understand why they'd reuse it.

Have you considered going fully tubeless? Then you won’t have to worry about pinch flats plus you get much lower rolling resistance.

I’ve definitely thought about it, but since all my ebikes came with tubes, I’ve stuck with them rather than changing them out. I don’t get pinch flats (yet). I usually ride with my tires decently inflated and I don’t ride in ways that would cause pinches to happen anymore. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned what kind of riding to avoid pinches (meaning I kinda ride a LOT more gentle than when I was younger).

What's a pinch flat I'm waiting on my Lectric 2.0 supposed to be here tomorrow?
@EbikeProducts2 жыл бұрын
@@harrywrigleyjr2634 a pinch flat is when the tube gets pinched between the rim and something solid (like the top of a curb) and the force of the hit makes a hole in the tube. It often happens when he tire pressure is too low, but it can happen if on any tire if you hit something too hard in general at just the right force (especially on a fat tire). @@EbikeProducts Now if one wanted to potentially help to prevent one from getting a potential pinch flat one can install a exercise foam matting material between the tire casing and the rim edge that would be wide enough to effectively help prevent the tire tube from becoming pinched against the rim to the extent that one would potentially experience a pinch flat; the exercise foam matting material can be brought at one's local walmart store and cut up to fit one's particular tire tube and rim combination application quite easily and readily.

So you can let air out of the tire with "flat out" in it through the valve? I suspect the valve might need to be in position near the top to let air out?
@EbikeProducts Жыл бұрын
Yes. You’re right. The valve stem core should be removed and the stem near the top. I’ve done it a few of times, especially when the tire bead doesn’t get seated evenly all the way around. Doing a standard air release by just pushing on the core valve center would probably get clogged by the sealant.

I will be putting this in my Mokwheel 26" x 4" tires tomorrow. The only question I have is: With the Flat out in the tubes, are you able to let the air out to replace the tire or for other maintenance? In other words, will it seal up the valve stem hole?
@EbikeProducts Жыл бұрын
It could seal up the valve stem, but a stiff paperclip or some similar could be used to clear it. I think the key would be to make sure to remove the center valve piece while the liquid is away from it, so make sure to have the stem at the top of the tire for a minute or two to let the liquid move away, then take out the valve piece.

Just so I'm clear, does the tire tube have to be repaired before doing this? Or can this be used to repair the tire tube?
@EbikeProducts Жыл бұрын
Disclaimer, I am speaking from experience only, but not sure what flatout would say. I have repaired flats using flatout and other sealants in the past, AND recently I had a tear in the tube so bad (in the sidewall) that flatout found the hole only after leaning the bike and putting more air in it. Most other sealants would not have worked at all. The tear ended up ripping more 5 days later and leaking after we took it off roading and forgot it was damaged. BUT we again leaned the bike and put more air to get us home but won't do that again. I would say yes, but you may want to ask their customer service directly for an official answer. They have a web form on their website to ask questions as it may depend what kind of leak you have.

I posted this next part of my reply on another commenter who asked about Flat-out. _"About 4 months ago I actually got a flat tire on a 26" Fat tire ebike that had Flat-out sealant in it! I ran over the middle of a stiff wire that made the sharp end of it curl and puncture the side wall. Nothing could have prevented the flat (other than me not running over the wire). Interesting thing that later happened when I pumped the tire up again to find the hole, I rotated the tire and leaned the bike to let the sealant find it and it completely sealed the sidewall tear! I needed to take a 2 day trip so I left the bike to see if it would hold and it did! We made a review video and took it off-road and our bouncing around tore the hole bigger so inevitably I needed to change the tube out. All that being said, Flat-out worked like a champ even for a tear. I do not ever recommend anyone continue to ride a bike that has a tear on the sidewall, but I was impressed on how well the sealant worked on a hole that any of its competitors would not have been able to make rideable."_ I continue to put flat out in all my ebikes and still believe its the best thing out there to prevent flats. The tear was about 5mm wide and I am still in disbelief that it sealed it so well where we could go off road with the ebike before the tear got bigger and the air leaked out and needed to be leaned over again to be resealed. I have footage of that day and hope to find a good way to make a story for youtube about it soon. Seriously, if Flatout ever becomes a publicly traded company, I'd buy a ton of stock just for the fact that I believe in it so much. I know I'd have had at least 6-10 more flats over the last year if I didn't use it.

Hi, thank you for your video and for your time! Why did you only put 8 Oz per wheel (I have a Rad Bike and I use the same fat tires) if the Flat Out site recommends 16 Oz per wheel? Were they enough for you? Because the difference is remarkable. I just ordered Flat Out and I'm undecided on the quantity, as 16 Oz seems like a lot to me. Thanks again and have a nice life!
@EbikeProducts2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and question! I actually do put the full 16oz per tire (which is half the bottle) on a 26” fat tire bike. It really is a lot of fluid, but since the tire is so big, it helps the liquid to find the holes. Also, if the thorn or nail is a little higher on the sidewall, the more liquid there is the better chance it will reach up higher on the sides.

@krazyfire1013 4oz may not be able to reach a hole fast enough or cover enough surface area to in general unless you have a tire that is a lot smaller than a fat bike. As you ride the liquid spreads throughout the tire due to the rotation and force so it thins out quite a bit.
@EbikeProducts Жыл бұрын
@@EricJaakkola I thought so too, but I don’t notice a difference. I think it’s because the rotation makes the liquid spread out while riding, but I really don’t know if it does or not. I’m sure the added weight and time it takes for the liquid to spread out from a dead stop makes a little inefficient drag, but it’s so minimal that I feel it’s totally worth it not to get flats.

They work, AS LONG AS YOU STOP IMMEDIATLY OF SUCH FLATS OF NAILS STABBING TIRE. even JUST 20 FEET STILL RIDING, THE NAIL WILL SHRED THE TIRE AS IT GOES AND THE NEED TO LISTEN AND FEEL FOR SUCH CHANGES OF RIDING. I caught a nail riding fast at 30mph for 20 feet but just slowed down of trying to make it home without changing, . Its best to stop IMMEDIATLY, pull out the nail and re pump air so the lubricant can fil it in. I didnt have a pump on me so I had to walk bike home to later find the nail but too deep and was cutting tube while walking home.

@EbikeProducts8 ай бұрын
In my opinion, slime is good, but flatout is incredible. It lasts a long time in the tire without breaking down and will work effectively. I think they said it was still working in a tire up to 10 years long (you may need to check their website for exactly how long that was). I’ve heard slime is really messy, but I’ve not have Flatout be hard to clean. I’ve never bought slime to add in my tires, Lectric does add them in all their bikes now. Flatout sent me a couple of bottles a few years ago and I continue to buy the gallon bottles for the last few months since so I have their sealant in all my bikes. I’ve had punctures seal completely and even rips seal enough to get me home that I don’t think slime could’ve helped.

This added alot of weight to my bike! I only added 1/2 a bag, my tire feels like there is cement in it , I have 26 X 4 fat tire same as you , did you experience this extra weight?
@EbikeProducts Жыл бұрын
I believe that size of a tire should take 1/2 a bag (which should be 16 ounces) in each tire, so whatever the weight of the bag is what weight will be added to the ebike. Due to the rotation of the tires, I don't feel the weight at all and if you do lift your ebike you really should feel that much difference. I just did a Google search and found out 32 ounces of water weighs about 2 pounds, so I guess 1 pound per tire added is quite a bit for a bike to have added. The protection you get will be worth it and when you ride you won't really feel it (or at least I don't).
