Because of the fact photography is your job I’m quite sure you can go out and shoot, unless the police can proof you can do your job from home and in that case to take a photo of the Lake District from your home that means you need a really long lens

It's basically the same situation for photography as for anglers. The specific guidance was it was OK to go fishing alone just not within angling group. Therefore any of us can go out for photography but not as part of a camera club event. I met a photographer today who reckoned the Police had told him he could run workshops still but I would have thought that was not within the Lockdown rules.

Looking forward to some mist/fog photography, you always do amazing stuff with it in your local areas. Plus... climate change. Never discount that where any one person lives there will always be a lot of people outside that location that find it exotic. I'm a great believer in shooting close to home and strongly advocate it. I often think of landscape photography as being like building a relationship.The more you get to know a place the more you get to know its intimate secrets; the changes in mood which come with the changes in time of day, weather or season and how the light interacts according to these things. I also think it encourage you to be more creative. If you travel to the iconic places, the temptation is to recreate the compositions which have been done countless times before. If you want to make your local shot 'pop' you really have to go hunting for those compositions, so helping you to develop your 'eye' for a good composition/image. Plus, in staying local, we're also been much kinder to the planet and in these strange times, when we are compelled to stay home, it provides light relief, or a place of sanctuary.

How did we live before weather sealing? Good occasion to play with taking the same photo over the period of many months, A local place that is. Maybe put a stake in the ground, and carry a printout in your camera bag to get the same framing each time. Then you could play with blending/editing/mixing them together. I always wanted to do this, but never had the patience/organization/time.

Like the Pep Ventosa technique? That would definitely be something different for Thomas to try. Having a project really makes a difference when you're working under tight constraints. It just gives your imagination/ ideas a kickstart, where as wandering aimlessly can lead to lots of frustration.

Never forget your lens hood, lad, and do put it on the right way!
@toejamr13 жыл бұрын
If you’re not worried about glare, the way he has the hood on is fine. Hoods often obstruct filters and their manipulation.
@d.robert9983 жыл бұрын
@@toejamr1 Hoods also protect the front lens element, and even without obvious risks of glare, there is often the stray light that ruins the photo, or makes you work pointless hours in Photoshop. Hoods designed by manufacturer never "obstruct" filters, unless maybe you stack 4 of those, but who would want to do that on a regular (and even not occasional!) basis? The only filter "manipulation" that hoods prevent is circular polarize manipulation, and obviously Thomas was not using one. When you use one, you should set it, then put the hood back one before you take the shot.

Sometimes, those short, sharp local trips can bring you little gems you might not have even considered, normally. With trees, you wan to check out everything about them. You may find taking pics of the roots interesting, especially if they're gnarly looking. You get all sorts of shapes and textures. Or, doing some macro shots in the forest. Chase the wildlife. Just so long as the wildlife doesn't take exception to you being there, like these two plovers (birds) just down the road from my house, in the park!!!! They're a nuisance!!!
