Full heating system clean and how to use a Adey magnacleanse.
I'm sure as plumbers we have seen bad installs or systems not up to scratch that get took off warranty by the manufactures but this one i wasn't convinced it was the right decision. We got called up to a system that had been taken off warranty due to the system water quality and was asked to clean it out, sure enough the water looked terrible and needed a full heating system clean but you be the judge as to how bad it actually was.
We will be doing a full Adey magnacleanse showing you the best way to clean the system, set up the equipment and the results at the end of the full heating system clean.
Also thank you to everyone that recommended a thermal imaging camera we have been sent one out and gave it a try on this job, it really helped out so I'm going to give it a test for a few weeks and report back.
Thank you all for your support if you haven't subscribed please look at subscribing it really helps me out as a channel.

On the filter, when you take the filter off, don't remove the two black clips. They are designed to be pushed against as you unscrew the filter allowing for easier removal. Try that next time, its much easier. And grease the filter thread when putting back on.

When doing a pwr flush or a magnacleanse risk access the rads first and get a disclaimer signed, especially when using aggressive chemicals like x800, I’ve seen old rads pinhole while the pwr flush is in progress.💦

Used to be an accredited installer for Worcester, but I’ve now switched sides and install Vaillant and Glowworm, so much easier to work on for your future repairs and servicing, plus the customer service is so much better, had a few customers who have had Worcester out and they’ve picked up small install faults, to be honest three years after the install you could have dirty system water again even if it was flushed correctly to start with, the customers could now end up paying out for a flush every three or four years now to keep a warranty.

Worcester customer service I’ve always found great but was a little disappointed on this occasion, could of been a strong advisory or final warning but to take them off contract was little harsh

How can it if the water quality is being monitored and installed correctly. I agree that if open vented systems are flushed that can happen if not installed correctly in the first place but on a sealed system this cannot happen if the ph, limescale, tds etc is correct after flushing.

I would of expected a lot to be picked up from that magnet from the colour of that water if it was all magnetite, I don’t the same on a video not long ago and it picked up loads. I think taking them off contract was harsh, final warning would of been fair to give them time to sort the issues out

Mate, great video as always. Love following you. Question if i may: i have just done 3 of these clean and followed exactly the same procedure but I am pretty sure that the return coming off the rads should be connected to the bottom the the right cylinder in the Magna Cleanse, around the filters then out the top exit of the left cylinder of the Magna Cleanse, to then go back into the boiler. I’m sure that the difference might be minimal but wanted to check with mate.

I used to fit Worcester boilers just because the after care from them was the best out there.the rep himself once told me that they would clean a dirty plate heat exchanger twice under warranty if the system was a bit dirty then they would contact the installer to recommend they clean it but would never say anything to the customer about it let alone void the warranty🤷‍♂️ that filter didn’t have much on it really their engineer just must have been a bit of a pr#£k🤷‍♂️ which is a shame the bloke who fitted it probably chose a Worcester boiler for that customer giving them another sale

Looking at the amount of contamination picked up by the Magnacleanse, Worcester were bang on! They look for a PH level of 8 or lower. Original installer should have done a proper powerflush and installed decent inhibitor. Why should the customer pay you for what should have been done with the boiler change!
@Richard-ct4ok
@Richard-ct4ok 5 ай бұрын
Most of the time customer doesn’t want to pay for a powerflush so a basic flush to the British standard it is. Like you say it’s an extra day + chemicals to do it properly
@bluebulldog_uk
@bluebulldog_uk 5 ай бұрын
I think a final warning would of been fairer, it isn’t the customers fault and it would if given her time to sort it out, fair enough if they have been out a few times to water faults but they had a issue with stat they wouldn’t cover…it isn’t fair on customer I agree to have to pay for it to be flushed when it should of been done on install but they wasn’t going to get them back in they wanted to make sure it was done this time to a better standard
@johnward5006
@johnward5006 5 ай бұрын
@@Richard-ct4ok there is no such thing as a "basic" flush to BS7593! You either do a proffessional job that meets the requirements of Part L or you break the Law. Bear in mind the installer has to PROVE compliance.
@Richard-ct4ok
@Richard-ct4ok 5 ай бұрын
@@johnward5006 To clarify my remarks; How to comply with BS 7593:2019 Step 1 - Clean: add a cleaner and allow it to circulate, so it lifts up all of the debris within the heating system. Step 2 - System Flush: Flush the dirty water out. You can do that using products such as the MagnaCleanse or power flush. Step 3 - Install Magnetic Filter: Make sure you’ve got an in-line filter fitted and this is a good time to clean and maintain it, such as Magnaclean or TF1. Step 4 - Protect: Add your inhibitor and allow it to circulate. Step 5 - Test: Test the inhibitor level using a standard inhibitor test such as ProCheck or inhibitor quick test. Step 6 - Maintain: You need to maintain the system and you can do that with an annual inhibitor test, and every five years, either a full laboratory test, or a re-dose of the inhibitor. There’s No mention of a power flush in the regulations. Hence why I call it a basic flush to the British standard; I.e it’s basic, and what we’ve we all should have been doing for years . I offer 2 types of flush to make it easy for my customers on my quotes, a basic flush which is included in the quote price (as detailed above) and a power flush at extra cost.

No system should have water that colour after three years of running. Im not saying every system should be powerflushed, but that looks like the boiler is the high point in the system and they didnt drain it properly when they did the boiler swap. Even a half arsed mains flush on the day would have left the water a better colour than that on the install. Ive drained hundreds of sealed systems that havent been dropped out for years and the water isnt that colour. Still think Worcester were being a bit harsh there though. But I dont blame the engineer, you never know whos following you in afterwards, and every company has got the self appointed Gas Police officer who goes weaselling off to the bosses if you havent follwed the company policy to the letter.
