Now we all know that every on earth is DIFFERENT even when put in categories (4a, 3c, 4c ) in my opinion I will never stop using oil or butters because that is the only thing I have used for 7 plus year to keep my strands healthy, Different oils have different benefits and when you Reap the benefits of those oil in your hair strands your hair begins to act different, it begins to hold on and Moisture better ,it’s softer, you’re length is retained. Aloe Vera has been my staple as well as castor oil along with others and essential oils. My hair is the proof that oil and butters work. But look. Sometimes it’s not what u use , but how your using it... let’s stop following trends and movements and start learning about our own individual strands and focus on what our hair is telling is rather than what another person is telling us to convey to our strands, your hair is long history or ancestors, each strand even each section having its own identity ( different textures in different areas) learn them. How about love and learn my hair movement..... if it’s not broke my friends don’t fix it

Idk if you guys notice but lately there's this 'thing' with these women --and i really feel its whoever their sponsors are--that are going around on social media trying to tear down the natural hair trend as a whole. They are doing it by going bit by bit over everything that we all have learned over this almost 20 years of doing this(at least for me) and now you have all these "Divestor" videos, these videos from professional hairstylists talking against it, and all kinds of stuff. Attacking basically EVERYTHING that people were doing, which worked, to grow and put health into their hair. Now yes you do have some people who simply just don't know how to do their own hair right, very true. However that doesn't negate the products. Its about learning how to use them correctly. Anyway, hopefully others see what I am saying too because its an attack and goes against everything that the natural hair movement, before it went real mainstream, was about which was to love and accept YOUR natural hair and stop trying to force it to be and go in a way that it is not because those habits were destroying our hair.

@@marlak4203 I haven't noticed but I appreciate people like Whitney White (Naptural85) who still support DIYs and natural products even though she has her own hair care line. It says a lot about her values versus others who are just trying to push product. And her line is amazing

@@JazzyB9481 Yes. As it is good that she does. I use both also so it does make sense. She has been doing natural videos for almost 12 years or so now so she's been into doing this for a long time. That is enough time to try things out and test them as I have done for myself too. I have been natural longer than that and I remember times before all of these products and this "new mentality" going on now where you always used things DIY simply because we did NOT have anyone able to deal with our hair back then. There were no product lines for natural hair so you HAD to make your own. No choice. Most of the products were for straight hair and for textures of certain grades, i guess you could say. The hairstylists did not know how to deal with our natural hair so going go them was out. That is a big reason, along with poor actions from some stylists, as the reason so many women stopped going to the stylists. They weren't learning to do natural hair. Hair schools didn't teach it either. And some, if not many of us who have been natural before the Miss Jessie and TGIN stuff came out we STUCK to those tried and true methods for our hair. Spread the info about them and others took to it also and its has stuck. What these folks are doing now is trying to undo ALL of that knowledge. No. Now I don't feel they are lying about some women coming into their shop with messed up heads but in the past year I am sure that is the case for a LOT of their clients head since the pandemic. Have to keep that in mind too.

Similarly to the many white stylist complaining about struggling to colour their client's hair because of silicone build up. White clients - dry shampoo, cheap shampoo, sprays e.t.c - silicone build up, dehydrated hair. Black natural clients - heavy butters and oils, eco styler (plastic) wash once a month, use heavy butters and oils several times a month - cuticles struggle to open and close under products - dehydrated hair.

I've seen people doing tik tok videos saying shea butter and oil's is the reason your 4c hair is dry and they should be avoided at all cost. HOW ABOUT STOP APPLYING SEALANT TO DRY HAIR HUUUUUUH?! People keep saying use water only, if that works for you that's great. I however do not live in a vacuum so unfortunately just due to plain ol' laws of physics my hair will be a brillo pad after 1hr of water only life. There is a simple science project you can do. Get 2 test tubes, in one test tube put room temperature water. In another put room temperature water and add around 10ml of oil. Leave these test tubes chilling literally anywhere. If you come back after a week you will notice the one without the oil layer has significantly less water. Why? Surface Water molecules just love to fly into the air and break free into the atmosphere. That layer of oil is reducing that effect keeping all the water in the test tube. For me, that's the principle I use to keep my hair hydrated. Adding butter/oil to damp (sometimes wet if I'm laaaaazy) is the best way for my hair to retain moisture for DAYS.

@@maymunah4755 the point was it works for some people as demonstrated in the video, so there's no need to keep commenting about how her method doesn't work (ie how oil and water are ineffective like you said). There's another woman on KZbin who says she doesn't use much water on her hair at all and she has type 4 tailbone length hair...I wouldn't go on her page and say "hair needs water" because although it may be a fact, her hair is clearly thriving without it. The point is different things work for different people

@maymunah4755 3 жыл бұрын
@@JazzyB9481 maam clearly you didnt comprehend what I said in my other comments. When did I ever say her hair method doesn’t work? You’re literally proving my point right now 😭😭 my point is that on AVERAGE hair grows half an inch EVERY month. The woman in this video and whatever other woman you’re talking about are apart of the people whos hair grows according to the average rate. Their hair would grow tailbone length even if they didn’t use oils. You know why? Because oils and butters don’t grow hair. There’s no oil that can speed up hair growth rate. Their hair grows is tailbone length because of lot of factors including their genetics. Not because of any butter or oils lol. If oils and butters truly worked most naturals would have tailbone length hair since that’s what everyone has been using for years. Yet most naturals hair will be stuck at shoulder length for years. You can put oils and butters on i your hair if you want it’s YOUR hair. But they’re not going to speed up the growth rate of your hair. Other factors do.

Honestly it absolutely amazes me how unique our hair really is and how one minute we can wear a TWA usually its most natural shrunken state then the next day stretch it out and its like 4 or 5× as long as its natural state.. I just blew my hair out for the first time the other day with the "bougie" reviar dryer to give it a thorough trim because usually I work with it in its natural tight coily state and I was completely taken back by how long it really is blown out, like its funny even after 29 years of having it grow out of my scalp it still fascinates me every single day.. Like we have the MOST versatile, unique beautiful hair on this planet and I wouldn't change it for a million bucks. The illusion to most people including our selfs at times is that our doesn't grow long like other groups but shrinkage is a lie 🤣.. Like I just can't wrap my head around it.. See This is an example of what TLC will get you when you treat your hair like fine delicate silk vs alot of the damaging practices we have historically done with our hair collectively speaking.. And I'm sure the FIRST thing people think is that this is a weave but THIS is simply an example healthy natural hair.. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 a few people actually thought I had a wig on my head playing around because my hair is super long blown out and stretched but in its natural state how I usually wear its tightly coiled (4a) and gives the illusion of being super short as if it doesn't grow or something 😂😂. Its cool and amazes me.

It came from two hairstylists who've gained a following with their hair detox and curly hair program. Their focus to teach people how to have a wash hour not a wash day. I think people have to do what works best for their hair and their lifestyle. If oils and butters work, stick to them. If they don't, let them go. I stopped using oils and butters and I have a 1-2 hr routine now but I don't follow any program; I do what works for me.

It’s about the length retention of your own hair. If your hair is splitting and not keeping length or gaining inches, do something different. You won’t get the results you want doing the exact same thing. I’ve stopped using oils and love not having oily fingers when I touch my hair along with oily pillow cases and bonnets. Using 2 products and cutting my hair wash time has been divine. It feels so clean, not to mention I’m finally seeing my hair retain length. We are all still learning and in the newer phase of natural hair so alternative methods will continue to surface. Let’s continue to grow our beautiful strands and stick together on the beauty of our natural hair.

Not to mention that this isn't even new. They have been on the scene since 2015 I believe. "Trend' is always relative because we all catch on to ideas at different times and they all experience their 15 minutes. As someone who has been natural her whole life I also believe there is never a time when we cannot open ourselves to new information and learn new ways.

I use water only and a clarifying shampoo every now and then. I keep my hair in two long flat twists. If I have to step out I take them down for long loose waves. This works well for me mostly because it helps with my itchy scalp, and my hair is never dry. It's also just short of waist length. I don't knock oils and butters. I used them for a long time before I switched. My hair length definitely doesn't have anything to do with product. I've always had long hair. My scalp comfort and health does. Everyone's hair and scalp are different. You have to find what works for you and stick to it regardless of the trends.
