Wesley So was shaving time off the clock and trimming down the execution of his game plan to make a clean and close game. At the end, he cut right through Levon's play and it was really smooth.

At 7:28, I found Rd6, which seems to set off a series that in the end exchanges a rook and pawn for Black's queen and taking both dark-square bishop's off the board. It goes like this: Rd6 Qc2 (Qa5 or Qb2 are also possible, but they don't seem to offer as much counter-play) Bf6 Qxd6 e7 At this point Black has two choices it seems: ...Qxf6 or ...Qxe7. Either way, White's response is to capture the queen, either with the queen (if ...Qxf6 was played) or the bishop (if ...Qxe7). I suppose the former scenario does leave Black's dark-squared bishop on the board, and a pawn, rook, and bishop is probably close to an even trade for a queen, but while it isn't the best scenario, it seems okay. Or am I overlooking something?

How much Chess has changed over the years, as players have followed the ground PLOWED by Bobby Fisher when he "reinvented" the game -- and took it away from the Russians. So many good players today with such a high level of dedication to EXCELLENCE !! Astounding to see just how "mainstream" and reputable Chess has become.

Great Channel! I've been watching for a couple years now. But I'd like to point out something as it certainly appears you don't mind people posting pointers about language to you. Monstrosity is either used in relation to a large building OR something really wrong or terrible.. I think the way it seems you use it doesn't fit with either of these definitions. It seems as though you are looking for the word 'monstrous' as in "This absolute monstrous attacking display from ____". We wouldn't really say a 'monstrosity of a game' when someone played well. I think this might help :) Take care and keep up the brilliant content!

#Suggestion I was exploring the f3 nimzo and found a game where Fischer (with the black pieces) lost pretty convincingly to a Romanian Grandmaster named Florin Gheorghiu. The game was in the 1966 Chess Olympiad in Havana, Cuba. Finals of board "A" linked here to chessgames.com www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1044607 Something else i found interesting from this same tournament, in a game between Gheorghiu with the white pieces and Najdorf with the black pieces, Gheorghiu blundered a queen AND mate in 1. 7.25 idk Rd6? if bishop takes theres mate, if queen takes bishop takes bishop takes, theres Rd1 (or Re1 is even better as stockfish says) and youre probably winning bc black's queen side is completely undevelopped and the king's position is busted, you have a queen and rook... as i said, probably winning edit: well apparently it wasnt the best move but i think it kinda works? edit2: no actually it WAS the best move lmao im better than super grandmasters
