The balance of elements... like ying and yang... earth, air, fire and water.... One race of air and water (humans) as their essentials to live... and one race made of earth and fire (Kirillians).... I couldn't imagine a more drastically large gap, yet a perfect match and balance...

It started well, but there was an awful lot of exposition in the second half. Well narrated, though.

A very idealistic Utopian story. Too bad the desire for dominance and power always topple naive ideologies in short order. Even among singular species there are dominance struggles. You sure as hell won't wipe it out between species. But the story isn't long enough to delve into that aspect of biological nature.

It's an interesting idea but could have been much better written. The idea that humans would just make an alliance with a galactic pariah out of a loose idea of "fairness" with nothing in return is deeply unrealistic, and that's just not how you establish a fair working relationship. It needs to be based on equal trade and equal acts of good will to build over time till the general population sees the other side as family. To do otherwise is not an act of kindness, it is an act of conceit. The idea that key diplomats would move off to high level military and scientific roles so quickly in such an important alliance is also very unrealistic. The story needed more characters and more time passing if it wanted to actually work.
